Supportive Counselling Ltd offers a compassionate and safe therapeutic space for adults, children, and young people (from age 9+) who are experiencing challenges with specialisms in neurodivergence, trauma, emotional overwhelm, and sleep difficulties.
Our work is centred on helping people feel understood rather than fixed, supporting each individual to make sense of what they are going through at a pace that feels right for them.
Many people come to counselling feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure how to move forward. Therapy with us offers a space to slow things down, feel heard, and begin to understand what is happening beneath the surface. We work in a calm, supportive, and non‑judgemental way, creating an environment where there is no pressure to have the right words or to know where to start. Sessions are shaped around what feels manageable and supportive for each person.
We specialise in neurodivergence and trauma and work in a neuro‑affirming and trauma‑informed way. We understand how long‑term stress, masking, and past experiences can impact emotional wellbeing, relationships, self‑esteem, and sleep. Therapy is collaborative and tailored, guided by curiosity, compassion, and honesty, and adapted to suit different ways of thinking, feeling, and communicating.
We work with experiences including anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, low self‑esteem, stress, burnout, sleep difficulties, bereavement, family and relationship issues, work‑related challenges, and trauma. Alongside talking therapy, we also offer Rewind Trauma Therapy, a structured and gentle approach that can help reduce intrusive memories and involuntary recall without repeatedly revisiting traumatic experiences.
A free 20‑minute consultation is available to allow time for questions and to check whether our approach feels like the right fit.
Our aim is to offer a steady, compassionate space where understanding and meaningful change can take place, focusing on what matters most right now.

I strongly recommend Supportive Counselling as the best counselling service in York by a considerable margin.
