I bought a "Never expires" license from…

I bought a "Never expires" license from Malwarebytes in January 2020 and used it without issue, until a recent update in February 2026, when my login details no longer worked. I contacted Malwarebytes customer support where they asked me for a copy of the original email to confirm purchase. I explained that this email no longer existed but I had the license ID and the license key. They replied next day, again asking for the original email and once again I told them I didn't have it as that email address no longer existed. That was on the 24th of February and have heard nothing since. So a never expires license from Malwarebytes is not worth the paper I printed it on.

Support not helpful

I've used this product for ver 3 years - all good - but then I tried adding the VPN software - no matter what I do can't get to to work and support is via AI bot and then email with tedious downloading and uploading of files - all for a standard config MacBook - Terrible

Unable to contact the company

Unable to contact the company. Tried to contact them with a suggestion. Fobbed off to a so-called AI chatbot. Useless. Passed to an agent. No agent replied. Everything clearly designed to keep customers at arms-length.

This is the worst company with customer service

This is the worst company when it comes to customer service help. “Nomer” the customer service rep lies about trying to call me and was of no help at all. I did manage to delete auto pay on my PayPal. When on “chat” with Nomer, he would NOT tell me if I had a subscription and said he would have to schedule a phone call to me 5 days later. What the heck!! Then on the 5th day I get no phone call. So, besides cancelling auto pay on PayPal I also emailed Malwarebytes to make sure my subscription which is good till June 2026 is cancelled. When I emailed Nomer back I told him how he lied about calling me and he emails me back with no response to that but says he he waiting for a escalation to get my new email on my account. Why he can’t just change my email is insane. I have given him my phone number TWICE since he asked for it again and still no call from him. DO NOT trust this company or even think your computers/laptops are safe. If their customer service is so bad if just reflects how bad the software is to protect you. They are just a bunch of idiots who are taking your money and laughing.

The only reason I use Malwarebytes is…

The only reason I use Malwarebytes is because I have a perpetual license. I have been using this service for 15 years and it used to be great (10 years ago) when the company listened and responded to their customers, and back when prices were reasonable, and they weren't constantly trying to bribe you. Malwarebytes is one of the best antivirus software around when it works. I have had many experiences throughout the past few years when it conflicts with windows, or completely breaks it. The "add recent detection to my allow list" feature has NEVER worked and there is no way to feasibly report bugs. Not to mention despite you paying for premium at an extortionate price that is not enough for this company, they have baked so much telemetry into this software you can completely forget about any sort of PRIVACY whatsoever. Though I have my own way of getting around this hurdle and as someone who is very privacy focused, it's the only reason why I allow Malwarebytes to even run. Because god forbid I'd trust Microsoft more with my data, then some shady company that doesn't seem to care about its customers.

Avoid this software - you could end up out of pocket like me

There was a glitch with the update server on the Android app - unrelated to anything I had done, and confirmed by MalwareBytes support. As I had MWB installed on my phone, this caused it to use up all of my phone mobile data, despite the fact the in-app settings were set to only update over Wifi. This left me with no mobile data for the rest of the month, and I was lucky I had a cap on my mobile spending so it did not cost me any more than that. It used 4gb of mobile data and 28gb of Wifi data in a few hours, running in the background, without my notice until the mobile data warnings showed up. Despite admitting fault, MalwareBytes will not reimburse me anything towards cost to buy more mobile data to make up for what I have lost to get through the month.

I am a paid Premium user, and I will not being using this software again ever - I can't risk it, and I would advise everyone who reads this not to either. If you ever have the same problem you are on your own, and you could be worse off than me.

Malwarebytes is the worst software I've…

Malwarebytes is the worst software I've ever seen. After installation, the software will start scanning automatically and will find Iobit ASC and Iobit Driver Booster. Malwarebytes will quarantine this software without asking. Restoring is very complicated. Did it after 3 days. Only the registration was gone. I had to re-register these programs. At my expense. I hope that many people read this. Malwarebytes is absolute crap

They do not respond to email

They do not respond to email. Trying to cancel auto-renew has not worked for three days and tech support will not help. I had to call the credit card company to tell them to reject the charge. Do not buy a subscription with this company.

Very slow Support response

I have had a Malwarebytes premium subscription for 5 years.

The antivirus program is great.

The customer support is abysmal.

Recently my premium subscription somehow reverted to the free version.

I have contacted Malwarebytes support 4 times, initially I received an automated response acknowledging my contact and giving me a support ticket number and an assurance that support personnel would be in contact.
This did not happen and they closed my support ticket without doing anything to resolve my problem.
Subsequent attempts to contact them have produced no response.

I am now without the protection I have paid for.

Shortly after posting this review I received the support I had been asking for.

My premium subscription is now reinstated.

I don't know if it was the review or if it normally takes 4 plus attempts, but I now have the excellent protection that the premium version provides.

Weird licensing issues. 0 support

As many users have reported here as well, licenses keep getting reset thus disabling the protection on all machines. Support is not responding and in the mean time all registered devices stay unprotected. Makes you wonder what you're paying for.

Absolutely zero customer service

Absolutely zero customer service. Pity as the sotware is good. They do not provide any contact email address on their site. They do not answer messages left on their Facebook page. Just an auto response. They ignore the negative comments left in the body on the page. Their VPN keeps breaking my WIFI and I want my money back.

Ruined my Win10 computer

Ruined my Win10 computer! I signed up for a 7-day free trial of the Malwarebytes VPN...and of course I had to give my credit card number. I installed it on my Win 10 computer and it completely messed up my network. I uninstalled it, but still no internet on my Win10 computer. Win10 will not load! I tried doing a system restore. It was not successful. I've tried reinstalling Win10 and that is not working either! I tried to contact malwarebytes with my Win7 computer, which is almost impossible. After numerous minutes with their "virtual assistant" I finally received an email that someone would contact me. I replied to the email DO NOT BILL ME! I'm suspecting that they will, however, and I'll have to file a dispute with my credit card company. Malwarebytes VPN has completely destroyed my Win10 Pro computer!

Ghastly Malwarebytes.

I hope and pray that I have finally stopped any payments to this ghastly company.
I have found that payments shows up as to Avangate a Dutch company. Who process payments for other companies
I am continually being advised that my items are NOT .activated.
Trying to activate nothing happens.
If any body is interested get in touch.
I am not holding my breath

I have deleted my bitter comments which I posted about 2 weeks ago because even though I repaired my Premium program by myself, as I had waited for more than was reasonable for a reply, today I received a very polite response which reminded me of the good old days of Malwarebytes. I have been a customer since RogueRemover you see.! I guess we all have our busy times. :) Keep up the good work and thank you.

Misleading

I have been using the Malwarebytes personal premium package which has done its job since I installed it.

However, my gripe is on renewal. They send an email saying to "Renew now to lock in your lowest price". This is very misleading as it is exactly the same as the advertised price on their website, surely "lowest" implies more than one price and one that is lower than the standard. Why such a company chooses to be dishonest is beyond me and on those grounds I won't be renewing.
