The platform is the best I have used as…

The platform is the best I have used as a tutor. I didn't have to pay to get students unlike some sites that receive payments even without guarantee of students. I also got connected to a couple of students in my vicinity for one on one lessons. I strongly recommend Superprof to get competent tutors in a wide variety of subjects.

They do not allow deletion of card details. This directly violates terms set out by the ICO in the UK. Reported to the ICO.

Edit, yes - I can see that page, but there is no way to delete my payment method.

Should have read other reviews, this is a dreadful company. Your card details are taken up front and they say they will only take your £39 if a tutor accepts your request to teach your child. So someone accepted my request, the money was taken from my account, and now they have completely stopped responding to my messages! I have also emailed the company directly twice and no reply. I've been absolutely ripped off, please don't make the same mistake!
To add, I have also discovered that no DBS or any other type of checks are carried out on tutors, anyone can just sign up! Slightly worrying to say the least.

Scammers, Thiefs!!! DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!! These people are unethical Tutors never reply etc, You have to pay a subscription which they take out evey month which is stupid. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE

As you’ve mentioned, we do charge a non-binding subscription fee of £39 - cancellable at any time- to connect you to any of the thousands of registered tutors that offer their services across the UK. The pass gives unlimited opportunity to search for as many tutors as you wish.

Across our site and in our emails, we indicate that this is a rolling monthly subscription and we actively encourage members of our student community to cancel their Student Pass if they've found the right tutor for their needs.

The option to cancel is available to all site-users on their profile dashboard, giving you complete control over if/when you cancel, which will also mean no further money would be debited thereafter.

Waste of money

I paid my £39 to contract a tutor and said I was looking for urgent tutoring for my son. They said they were available and could help but then had no availability due to their courier driving job. Complete was of money. I wasted days messaging and waiting. I’ve now been charged £39 renewal fee that I didn’t know I’d signed up for. Cancelling my subscription is proving tricky as I can find how to cancel on the app. It might work for some but not for me.

I miss you, old Superprof

1. The massively priced opt-in subscription/student-pass for my students blunts the number of offers I can get. I explicit PSA my students in my intro session.
2. Payment system of late has been bonkers. The mobile app reports higher pack prices when I have discounted them. Multiple single payments can get stuck. It's become a nightmare.

I am the same person who wrote about how I made a living off of this platform, breaking even and even 9–10x-ing my earnings, but it's a shame that this is happening after Superprof UK bumped up its premium annual subscription for tutors (which is a different price, mind you!) from £79 to £99. They started adding AI slop into the app. I sincerely hope they haven't been replacing their programmers with slop generators too.

Premium support used to mean something, but they have been observantly silent about the payment failures, bloviating and sidestepping actual dialogue. I must drop this review.

3 years and counting. Can't believe my ship is finally sinking.

These guys will take money from your…

These guys will take money from your account without letting you know. No notifications, no emails. Nothing. They just come in and take it. I had stopped the subscription but maintained the membership. I should have cancelled and deleted the account to ensure they couldn't take money. They will take your money, then argue the small print and refuse to refund you even though you do not intend to and have no intention to use their services. Very Bad Show indeed!!

This is a scam

This is a scam. Do not sign up for Student Pass. I attempted to contact a tutor (who accepted the assignment but later said he could not carry out the work). As soon as this had happened I had been charged. Approaching the date, there was no suitable contact. The lesson did not take place and no further tutors were available in the local area. I have requested a refund which has been refused. I have a call scheduled with Citizen's advice regarding a referral to Trading Standards under the following failiures:

they scammed you - for example, you paid for something online that you didn’t receive

they tried to stop you using your legal rights - for example, they said you can’t return faulty goods

they didn’t carry out work properly

I have been met with insufficient customer service despite testimony from the tutor concerned (who could not carry out the work). A simple refund would have solved this issue but the strong-arm tactics employed so far are reflected in their poor Trust Pilot score of 3.5 in UK. I shall be pursuing this strongly.

Superprof's stock response (see below), as usual, fails to address the issue, here. The issue of goods of the required quality not being recieved and the consumer's right to a refund under these circumstances (protected by law). I have not received any benefit from the company, have requested a refund and been refused. I have provided evidence, been open to a solution (involving a refund) and have only recieved one email from them refusing the refund. This is not customer service and is another example of how I have been failed in this transaction. My next recourse, should my legal rights not be respected is to complete the suggested referral to trading standards.
