Poor customer support and product experience:
I have found product support poor via their website which seems designed to be as unhelpful as possible, as other customers have also alluded, in that links that are supposed to take you somewhere to obtain help in connection with problems do not work or take you anywhere useful, and you find yourself going round in circles and find yourself getting nowhere! I have been a customer of theirs as manufacturer, regarding four of one of their particular products, a Sumvision Cyclone Primus V.2 Media Player Enclosure, and have found these to be problematic from purchase, having installed the maximum, per the manufacturers written specification, of 2 Tb hard disk drives in each of them, with the supplied mains power adapter I have found being insufficiently rated for reliable operation! There are also apparently serious operating system bugs affecting all of them which I came to be aware of from a first purchase of these secondhand, which caused me to become aware of their unreliability, and I went on to buy three more new ones in an attempt to provide some insurance against the unreliability aspect, there being only one other manufacturer of this type of product I could find, and I had deemed the other manufacturer's product to be less suitable, so leaving me personally feeling I had no choice but follow the path I have taken! I am aware the manufacturer previously increased the power supply rating of this item, presumably because of unreliability with an even lower rated power supply than it subsequently ended up with before eventually being discontinued! Other buyers and users have remarked on this inability to achieve reliable operation with the supplied external mains power supply in connection with use, as well as similar operational software issues encountered using this product to the ones I have found, and also using this product with the maximum 2 Tb hard disk drives installed in them as I have tried to do! Unfortunately I purchased 2 Tb drives for mine based on the manufacturers written specification giving this as the maximum which can be installed, on the assumption they had themselves checked this to be the maximum for reliable operation! Buying uprated external power supplies at my own additional expense has solved that particular problem, but one obviously should not have to do that! So based on my own experience concerning repeated problems of unreliability with this product, freezing, disconnecting and refusal to play the files they are supposed to play, etc., their products seem to be of rather poor quality with rather poor customer support! Other customers have alluded to the same problems using this particular product with the manufacturers stated maximum 2 Tb hard disk drives, and also difficulty otherwise trying to get satisfactory product support from Sumvision as I have said! (Update today 03/12/21: Received a reply to my emails referred to above today, but that is over a fortnight later! I think anyone else would agree that is an excessive time to have to wait for a reply to emails submitted on 18/11/21!)
