*Avoid Summer House Interiors*
We strongly advise against using Summer House Interiors, run by Stuart Thorner. Our experience with his services was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. When we questioned the inflated bill he presented, he became uncooperative and refused to provide an itemised breakdown. Rather than engaging reasonably, he escalated the situation with aggressive and intimidating tactics — including threats to remove our kitchen, bring the police to our home, and take us to court.
His conduct was not only aggressive but also misleading. He submitted inaccurate claims in his legal evidence, including a false allegation that we had gone to Howdens and placed orders on his account without his knowledge — something we have since proven to be untrue and, in fact, not even possible. He also provided random receipts and documents unrelated to our property. At every stage, he refused to offer transparency.
Despite all of this, they ultimately accepted a reduced settlement — but only after a judge strongly encouraged them to do so, which speaks to the strength of our position and the weakness of theirs.
The quality of their work and that of their contractors was equally poor. For example, they failed to install a waste pipe in the shower, which caused a significant leak and led to the ceiling collapsing. Our new render and paintwork were damaged, and a boiler was wrongly installed. We had to spend additional time and thousands of pounds to rectify the issues they left behind — all after paying well over the odds.
The entire ordeal was unnecessarily stressful, dragged on far longer than it should have, and showed a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. We strongly caution anyone considering their services. If you choose to hire them, keep a detailed paper trail — you may need it.
This review reflects our personal experience and is supported by documented evidence. We hope it helps others make a more informed decision before working with them.
