About Sub Zero Technology Ltd

Written by the company

During a cold and wet scramble along the Lake Districts Helvellyn mountain in 1967, Derek Laxton hit upon inspiration for a technical range of thermal underwear.

With a trained mechanical engineer background and a lust to run his own company, in 1969 Sub Zero Technology was created. From their original Leicester Textile Mill, the Sub Zero Factor 1 range of thermal base layers was born to worldwide acclaim.

In the five decades since, Sub Zero have expanded their range to include heavy weight thermal mid layers through to insulating down jackets. Never a company to stand still, Sub Zero have adopted new manufacturing processes, such as seamless knitting technology and body mapping, to produce garments that are at the pinnacle of performance.

Sub Zero today is still family owned, with the third generation of Laxtons running the company. The factory and offices now reside in rural Leicestershire, with the workforce coming from the local communities. Sub Zeros work ethos is still true today as it was form its interception - to design and manufacture technical outdoor clothing using the finest technical textiles for the words most extreme conditions.

Thermals

Fab products - great service - we bought a range of merino, factor 1 and factor 2 products - can't praise highly enough!

Great gift

Dad loved the gloves, great quality. Medium comes up quite small so I had to get large instead. He is very pleased with the gloves though and they are very resilient, perfect for rambles.

Not windproof !

Nothing wrong with the delivery or service, but the fleece jacket was advertised as windproof and sadly it's not. I have kept the fleece because it fits well and probably will get some use out of it on warmer days. Disappointed in general.

We were a little surprised to see your comments as the fleece jackets are not advertised as being windproof. The listing does state that it is wind resistant but this is totally different. If you would like to send it back to us then i will happily exchange it for our windproof soft shell jackets or process a full refund to your account.

Sub zero gilet

Nice and warm slight criticism? The back could be a bit longer when I bend over it rides up and my back becomes exposed.

We are currently in the process of finalising new down jacket designs for the 2016/2017 winter season - hence the reduced price of the current down jackets - and have taken on a number of points raised by our customers and distributors. One of these is the jacket length at the waist which we are extending by two inches. Regards Darrell

all run smoothly

I ordered some items and discovered that I overestimated my size. So I have requested for an exchange. So they did as I asked them.

Fantastic range of products.

Having tried many different ranges of thermals / undergarments in the past I was so pleased to find a range of upper and lower body thermals through sub-zero that not only kept me continuously warm (living in a caravan at the moment) but that were also extremelly comfortable, non restrictive and that effectively drew sweat away from the body exceptionally fast keeping me dry when laboring. I would highly recommend sub-zero and their range of products and will be looking to extend my wardrobe with them further in the near future.

Excellent quality and fast delivery

Items were dispatched in the same day I placed the order. I received them in five working days although I lived overseas.

I cannot find any defects in sub standard thermal underwear. Their quality is excellent in terms of material and workmanship. Highly recommended.

When people see sub standard they get an impression that there will be gaping holes or an arm missing. It couldn't be further from the truth with our products. A lot of the time there are very small imperfections that we do not let through our thorough quality control procedures - such as a dropped stitch or a small stain. I'm glad you like them and they should last you a very long time.

Thermal Mug

The mug arrived in 2 days from my order. It does everything claimed. I use it in the home, so my drinks dont go cold when I forget to drink them. ( too busy) If you do that, take a mug as well, because the drink is too hot. It pours nicely so using it like that is no problem. Its easy to wash, I cant find anything bad to say about it.

Excellent products and service

I've bought a number of things from Sub Zero recently ranging from sub standard thermal layers to fleeces and down jackets. My son manages an outdoor education centre in the north of England so we have tried a variety of products from a wide range of companies over the years, but the Sub Zero gear is, quite frankly, the best we have ever tried. On top of that the service has been impeccable - personal and helpful, and the one item we needed to change because of size was swapped promptly without fuss. We can't recommend them highly enough.
