I wanted some replacement vintage doors & they provided exactly what I needed. Great service, explained all my options & gave me lots of advice.
Poor Service no communication and doors were a mess when I collected shocking.
I recently decided to upgrade the 1960's doors in my period home, with the original style, pine doors. My first port of call was with Ebay, but due to location issues and quality (I bought one, had it delivered and it now sits in the garden to stop the rabbits getting into next door, it was that shoddy and misdescribed) I decided to have a look around strippadoor's showroom. A couple of years back, Strippadoor dipped and stripped my front door on a same day service, and I was happy with the service. So, over a number of trips to get the correct sizes and see the progress of my chosen doors, I dealt with Ben, Dan and Andy - all of whom were really helpful and obliging in the various queries and requests I had about the doors.
I ended up with 5 period internal doors, 1 vestibule door and an internal kitchen door with the original Victorian glass. Within Strippadoor's office is an Aladdin's Cave of period doors of all shapes and sizes. I cherry picked the ones that I wanted over a few visits, (Ben kept me posted when new doors had come in for me to look at) and hey presto, I had my doors. Here's the special bit. The doors I wanted weren't the 'perfect' size for my frames, of course. Andy, who has 18 odd years with the company, and who I would consider being a Master Carpenter after seeing the results, then went about reshaping, cutting, sanding and adding original wood to the doors where needed. I was a little unsure of how this would turn out, but went with Andy's advice of being able to marry up the grain with additional suitable period door wood. I'm really pleased the I did, as the result is almost seamless, unnoticeable when hung. The smoothness of the sanded wood is as smooth as a polished table, and the smell of wood still remains when you come into the house. I went for the option of having the doors sanded, which was worthwhile. Oiling the doors was also an additional option at a cost, but I decided to get a feel for them in the house before I decide what to do with them. Still deciding!
I'm seriously happy with the doors, and the service I received from Strippadoor. I've told Ben, Dan and Andy they can take photos, or use me as a reference. Dan also popped over the bathroom door for me as he was passing, which again was above and beyond what they needed to do, considering I'd only asked that morning if it was ready for collection. Also, they put me in contact with Mark, who then hung them for me. Overall, I'd have full confidence in recommending their products and service. If you own a period home, seriously consider restoring or replacing for original period doors - it makes a huge difference. Being an Estate Agent, I know that period features will add value to your home as well. Regards, Tim@YOPA
