Avoid at all costs
This is an extremely two-faced company. I have been renting cars from Stevens for several years now. I have paid over the odds for very old cars in the past but accepted it because I the service was good and there were no hidden charges. I believed that I would be covered and looked after if I were to have an accident. Unfortunately, on this occasion, I had my first motoring accident in my 40 years of driving. I felt bad and was embarrassed because, for the first time, the car was new instead of old. I reported the accident to Stevens and I was surprised by their response. They were rude, arrogant and did not even ask if I was okay or injured. All they spoke and cared about was the cost of repairing the car. I always thought that was the job of the insurance company and their job was to look after the customer. They refused to replace the car and offered me a refund instead. I refused the refund, thinking that this may appease them. However, their stance and rudeness remained. They didn’t even have the decency to return my personal belongings which had been left in the car. Everybody can smile when you’re filling their pockets but their true colours show when things don’t go as planned. Therefore, I can only advise you to avoid hiring a car from this company. I went on to hire a car from Avis for the rest of my holiday and the car was €16 a day cheaper and I wish I had done this years ago. Avoid them.
