While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

To protect platform integrity, every review on our platform—verified or not—is screened by our 24/7 automated software. Stenobox is transcript production software for court reporters and legal transcriptionists. You upload the recording of a deposition, hearing, examination under oath, or statement, and Stenobox gives you back a court-formatted verbatim transcript draft — not a wall of raw text. You review it against the audio and certify it as the officer of the record. The draft comes back already laid out the way a transcript is supposed to look: Q. and A. with speaker labels, examination headers, colloquy indentation, parentheticals, court-standard number and date formatting, quotation rules, and interpreted-proceeding formatting when an interpreter is on the record. You choose the verbatim standard your work calls for — court standard, true verbatim, or clean verbatim — before the job runs. Reviewing is the part Stenobox is built around. The transcript is laid out on real 25-line numbered pages, exactly as it will print. Click any word to hear that moment in the recording. Spots worth a second listen are flagged for you, so you spend your time on the places that actually need an ear rather than reading every line twice. Foot pedals are supported, along with keyboard shortcuts, quiet-voice boost, find and replace, and one-click speaker fixes. When the transcript is finished, you get a court-formatted Word (.docx) file, a Court ASCII text file with line and page numbers typed in, or a plain text copy to paste straight into Word or your CAT software. Title page, index, and certificate pages are generated for you, and you can save your own pages as a reusable template so you type them once instead of every job. Federal, state-statutory, and custom page formats are all supported. Stenobox takes the files reporters actually have. Audio and video files, recordings from a phone or a digital recorder, Zoom recordings, and FTR court-recorder folders (.trm) all upload directly. You can also record a proceeding straight from your browser and watch a rough draft appear live while it runs. Pricing is one flat plan: $149 a month, including 100 audio hours. There is no per-minute meter, no per-page charge, and no annual contract. New accounts get a 7-day free trial, and you can cancel any time from your own account page. Your work stays yours. Uploaded audio is deleted automatically after 30 days unless you choose to keep a job, recordings you make in the app are kept until you delete them, and nothing you upload is ever reused to build or improve any other product or sold to anyone. Stenobox was built by a working court reporter who was tired of typing transcripts from scratch and wanted the machine to do the production so the reporter could do the certifying. Stenobox LLC is a small, independent US company — when you email support, you reach the person who builds it. Questions, or want to see a finished sample transcript before you sign up? Email hello@stenobox.com.

Excellent Legal ASR Software

Stenobox is on the cutting edge with their ASR. I run a small legal transcription agency. Stenobox intelligently assigns speaker IDs and formats the transcript properly. Primarily I run court trials through the system, and they come out very clean. The company is responsive to my suggestions. The rate is very fair. Highly recommend.
