A horrible experience with SBK Moving - AVOID THEM!
I would advise anyone to avoid this moving company - we have had a terrible experience, which has not yet ended since they are holding our car hostage (!!) for a month now, in order to make us pay extra money.
We hired them to move our belongings and our car from Sweden (Malmö) to France. The price was based on the volume of the goods which we measured carefully, and therefore know took up no more then 26 m3. We paid everything in advance, as they requested (invoice for 84 675 SEK). Once they had taken our stuff in their truck and driven away they slammed us with an extra invoice of 37 400 SEK falsely claiming that our goods took up 38 m3 "in the truck". The owner and CEO of the company even called us twice and demanded that we pay immediately, otherwise they will refuse to unload our property.
We, of course, contested the additional surprise-invoice. As a result this moving company is now holding our car hostage (a quite new car which we paid 130 000 SEK for), demanding that we pay or else the car will be sold to cover their demands!
We are completely shocked that any moving company can operate in such a way - and now we have found on the internet that this is not the first time that Stadsbudskontoret/SBK Moving/Globus (one company/owner, but many names) acts in such a underhanded way. From other people's comments on the web I can see that coming up with a surprise last-minute extra invoice and baseless doubling of the volume to get more money is a procedure regularly practiced by this highly questionable company.

Örnsköldsviks Stadsbudskontor AB (Stadsbudskontoret) and its subsidiaries perform nearly 4000 international moves annually. Stadsbudskontoret is one of only two Swedish companies who is a member to the prestigious organisation of international movers, FIDI (www.fide.org). We are also members to removal organisations like International Association of Movers (iamovers.org) and the Sveriges Möbeltransportörers Förbund (www.smf-flytt.se).
We continuously measure our quality in order to improve our quality and communication with our clients. The feed back from our European quality reports tells us that 98 % of our customers would recommend Stadsbudskontoret to other people or indeed move with us again.
We have never experienced such a discrepancy of the volume informed by you prior to the move as to the actual volume loaded on our removal van.
We estimate the moving volume each time we make a quote, in many cases to also offer the physical survey free of charge to calculate the correct volume. Our estimation considers the final volume of the household goods when it is loaded safely on our removal van.
However, you declined a physical survey and informed us you had given us the correct volume which in the end turns out to be incorrect.
We informed your representative verbally at origin the final volume when loaded onto our removal van. We also contacted you prior to delivery to discuss our revised rate to allow for the increase of volume compared to the informed and quoted volume.
You were not willing to pay the additional costs for the increase in volume and since our terms of payment for private accounts are payment prior to delivery, we had to keep our car, which we estimate to a value of around sek 30 000, as security
We have also recommended that you contact ARN (The National Board for Consumer Disputes) and informed you that we will follow the recommendation of ARN – we still recommend you to do so but it seems that you are not interested in using an impartial body to solve this unfortunate issue.
We cannot see how you solve any differences we might have by misinforming social media of your moving experience. We rather have an honest talk with your and still think that ARN would be the best option for you.
Safe loading, transport and delivery of the household goods entrusted to Stadsbudskontoret / SBK Moving and Globus are always of our highest priority. Your move is not different from any other international move we do and the positive feedback from 98% of our customers tells us that we are delivering high quality moves.
