Awful builders

Awful builders, used cheap materials and subcontractors of low quality service. Weve had constant issues since building their newbuild with faulty heating systems, pipes in kitchen and entrance hall (mains) needing repairs, windows not corrected sealed, faulty electrical wiring for the sockets. Endless nightmare with poor customer service.

Avoid Springfield Properties

Bought a property last year. Still waiting on faults with house to be fixed. The road is not completed and they have ignored the emails from all the neighbours asking if and when they are going to complete the road. People here have sustained injuries including a young child broke his arm. These houses are thrown up very quickly and cheaply. Its been stressful dealing with Springfield either by phone or email. Very rude and unhelpful. The last house here got finished back in May and now its November and the roads are still not finished. I have loss confidence completly on the roads being completed.

Roofs not fit for purpose

I have lived in a Springfield property for 16 months and had roof repairs done 3 times now. Roofs are not fit for purpose. Slates are the lightest, cheapest ones available and many neighbours have had problems too. Buyers beware!

This is my personal experience and…

This is my personal experience and personal opinion, however I would strongly discourage people from dealing with this company. Take your hard earned money and spend it elsewhere would be my warning. We bought our property in 2021. We have had extensive issues, most of which have never been repaired or resolved. Currently, I am having to fork out for a drainage report with the view to making an NHBC claim due to parts of the driveway sinking around a sub standardly installed manhole drain. The company and its workers seem totally disinterested - which has been my experience every time I have had to contact them regarding an issue. You are made to feel you are the problem.

Time after time after time

Time after time after time. Springfield have been back and forward, saying they will fix the issues and not doing it.
You couldn't play a game of 5-a-side in the garden without at least one ankle being broken, its horrendous, said they would come and fix it, subsequently came and made it worse.
The flooring down stairs must have been done by cowboys; lifting all over the place, with gaps between pieces of flooring, and the sealant round the edge can been seen from space! Again when they come to fix it, it's like they can't be bothered. I have one day off mid-week every week and that day is spent in the house for people to come round and not fix the issues they have made.
They aren't interested in listening, helping, or trying to resolve the problems that they create. I wouldn't buy from them again if they paid me. For anyone wondering how long this has been ongoing, we moved in August 2023.

Before the pandemic

Before the pandemic, I had phoned Springfield in Elgin asking him to look at my boiler as it was wired wrong.
Not a thing was heard from them and I’ve just paid 3 1/2 thousand pounds to get it fixed. The wiring was dangerous and the boiler wasn’t fit for purpose.

Terrible

Terrible - ongoing issues with house since the day I moved in. They send out Colin who doesn’t have a clue. Lack of communication, lack of compassion and their factor company who coincidentally use the same font for their logo are just as bad. Donna who works in their main office has no people skills either and has such a patronising attitude.

Now associated with Mactaggart

These are the jokers that have just taken over the absolutely dreadful MacTaggart and Mickel. Pairing the worst with the worst, it’s an unholy patrimony of utter sh@it.

I would avoid any company associated with MacTaggart.

Bad seller with an awful web page. Had problem assembling a device and now they won't take it back despite offering a free 60 day returns policy. Customer support does not give support and even had the gall to tell me to go on YouTube for assembly instructions as the ones supplied are totally useless. Feel completely ripped off and just before xmas. We will never buy from here again.

Really disappointed potential purchasers

We had hoped to buy a new Springfield home in Dornoch but were so disappointed with the approach of the company. We left with the impression from the company that we should feel privileged to be buying their house rather than working with us to help. Whether we needed plugs moved or new sockets everything seemed to be an additional cost( and we did check out the costs with friends who are electricians and tilers and their opinion was that the costs were way above the norm). There was only around a £13,000 budget put aside for a
Large kitchen and when we went to choose it, it cost approximately an extra £15,000 ( although we did add an island in fairness to the company) and so the woeful story goes on for flooring, etc etc. So sad, because we loved the home and the town but eventually had to back out as our costs mounted.

Don't get me wrong I love my…

Don't get me wrong I love my springfeild home and the choices your given is fantastic. Yes there has been the usual snagging issues but they have usually responded well to this. The score on this is entirely because I bought this to be a family home but currently it is not safe to have my kids outside. First the street I'm on has no pavement (drumossie development) but there is also nothing to stop cars speeding that road. Since the day we moved in there has been cars using our street as a short cut to the top tier of houses and the speed they go at is so horrendous our kids now can't play outside. The fact that they didn't put pavements but allowed it to be a main access road isn't thought through. It's enough to make us consider moving. Initially the kids all played outside but more of the street has said they are now against this. Someone is going to get hurt. If this was dealt with I'd happily change my review because we actually love the house its just not the family friendly home we hoped for.

Happy first time buyers at Kinross

We’ve had a good experience at Kinross. The usual snagging that comes with a new build and a slight issue after a joiner forgot to add half our door handle parts but springfield have been really good at communicating and getting tradesman out to fix any snags, fixed 3 panes of scratched glass and when our door handle fell off someone was out within an hour to fix it. We are very happy with our home and can’t fault the staff we have spoken too. The drainage issues have been a pain but at least it’s getting fixed. Overall a lovely house and a good experience for our first home purchase! I’d consider a future property with springfield.

Shockingly bad attitude to any issues

Shockingly bad attitude to any issues. The builder has thrown these properties together. Multiple issues from the start with all the people on my Phase. Brought in cowboy workmen to get the job done and the MD Dave claims if I complain on social media then he will contact the Police for harassment. Very bullying and uncaring. Wish wish wish I had seen this before completion. Please don't buy from these people they are cowboys with a licence to print money by the council.

5 years in… an honest review.

5 years in. 2 years of near incessant snagging and problems ever since. Every room with a water source has leaked. Including those with a vent axia. Freezing en-suite, despite triple glazed windows.

The boiler was fitted with a broken condensate pipe which was only discovered this year owing to the unit being boxed in and physically sealed to the wall. Completely inaccessible unless I ripped it off the wall, we couldn’t access it in anyway, at least until it swelled up so badly that it snapped itself owing to the pressure from warping from damp and being sealed in place for the last 5 years so it was installed damaged, the pipe was literally sheared clean in half right through the middle. It’s been leaking for 5 years every time the boiler was running. Ruined worktops. Ruined walls. Ruined flooring. This is after they had to rip out and redo the utility already owing to a previous leak!!

Wrote to springfield given it was clearly an installation issue and should be covered under professional negligence. Even just as a gesture of goodwill - The response I got was literally they couldn’t care less. Not their problem. And to basically suck it up. I didn’t report a leak, I couldn’t have known we had, within the 2 years, because it was inaccessible, but I should have known about it to report it. Give me a break.

We now have another leak in the utility. Owing to poor pipework. 3 leaks in one room?!?

We also have cracked shower tiles, gappy grout, leaking vent axia systems. The waste disposal pipe for our bath was leaking from the day we moved in but went undiscovered until it swelled up our doorframes and started to smell. We bore that cost. Amongst all the others Springfield refuse to touch despite it being their installing sub contracted staff causing the issues. I mean half the pipework we’ve discovered through having to call independent plumbers was only hand tight. Come on.

We had missing door facings wobbly bannisters, missing switches and a control panel plonked in the centre of our kitchen wall, rather than in the utility where it belonged.

We have damaged render from them removing scaffolding. Poor mastic work. Uneven doors off by an inch in some cases. The en-suite is absolutely lacking in insulation being above the garage and with two velux windows really poorly designed to minimise heat loss. It’s freezing.

And todays topper, when having our washing machine looked at, (integrated), it’s been propped up on slivers of softwood because it’s obviously been dropped on installation and the stabilising leg is shunted up inside the machine. Instead of replacing it theyve just shoved wood ends underneath it to balance the missing leg and left it. I paid for that appliance. And it’s now ruined. The chassis of the machine is now warped and cannot be repaired. All due to the absolute berks who installed it. Appalling.

We had scratched glass and damaged units, we had dead grass and loose carpets. We had ripped vinyl and unpainted skirtings, the whole house needed repainted because the place was flashing more than Katie Price.

They were just ok during snagging, sometimes the girls in the office were really good and quick and we appreciated that, as theirs can’t be an easy job. But not great, you were always made to feel like they were doing you a favour rather than fixing mistakes made to the biggest investment you ever make. Springfield really do just take your money and run. The bare minimum. Zero aftercare. No consistency either. Neighbours got three front door keys. We got two. Radiators and switches all in different places depths of wardrobes all different. Just random.

The place is a leaky hellhole and we spent almost £250k on it 5 years ago. Finishings are so poor, every grub screw in every door handle just popped out. Handy with small children around to swallow them. Windowsills sealed in the worst way and just look shabby as hell. Cracked lintel outside the window. Should never have been put in that way. Every window creaks and groans. Panel blown in bed 2, pendant lights left hanging with wires exposed, woodwork absolutely not treated and wood oils starting to show horrible yellow nicotine type stains, taping and plaster boarding absolutely pathetic, cracks round every window and door. Just honestly appalling.

Crisp packets and drink cans found in carcassing when taking off plinths, 3m plinths supported by one bracket I really could go on and on and on.

Sub contractors stood slagging me off in my own home when I could hear them, and just having an absolute lack of respect.

Would I buy another? Absolutely not. Especially now they’ve downgraded to double glazing and the fittings and finishes are even worse. I’m over it. They’re honestly terrible.

It doesn’t give Nairn as an option. But that’s where I am. Bought 2017. Would not recommend.

Shitefield

Bought a house 18/12/20. Two years and two days later one of the central heating pipes is leaking and the water is dripping through my living room ceiling (one month after getting the place painted).

Called Springfield. The person on the phone was more like a robot. Completely disinterested and kept repeating to me that we were out of warranty.

I tried to explain to her that the leak must be minimal as we have only just noticed the water damage.... However, the pressure in our heating system had been dropping for the week leading up to in. We put this down to the extreme shift in temperature outside.

The mere fact that we first noticed the issue a week previously means that the fault began whilst still in Warranty. Still, they were not interested.

It seems utterly diabolical that one can expect a 3year warranty on new car but one year less for a £200k house.

Springfield have since failed to respond to our email correspondence.

They have basically washed their hands of it.

Disgusted.

Malfunctioning Heating System

Snagging list only partially completed but that didn't really bother me. What has truly hacked me off is the repeated failure of the heating system and the inept way in which Springfield have dealt with the issue. They sent out an electrician three times who achieved nothing other than damage a wall trying to unscrew a switch. No troubleshooting, no RCA, nothing except to shrug his shoulders and say "I dunno". When the system failed again on the first freezing weekend of the year (20/11/22), Springfield emergency response did nothing. No electrician, no visit, nothing. We then had to phone repeatedly to get some action. Which has been....to pass it on to Daikin. Ten days later and we've not heard from Daikin. Phone Springfield and they've washed their hands of it because they've passed it to Daikin. Winter starts tomorrow and no hot water or heating. The problem is, once you've bought, your stuck having to deal with these people.

Taking legal action due to glass failing within 30 days of installation. Not one email, not one acknowledgment from any member. The 2 ladies that are on the end of the phone keep assuring us that their mystical managers will be in contact but nothing.

Spent over £800 for 2 thermal glass door panels one with a cat flap and beside ourselves as they failed/blew in less than 30 days of being fitted.

Ordered 11th March 2022, messed us around with delivery date quoted 4 to 6 weeks turned into fitting date 27th May 2022.

Glass failed by 22nd June 2022.

Still chasing our tails.
