Horrible experience in getting paid
Have been using this app for 3 years. I find it mostly easy to use. It is NOT the most intuitive, but you can figure out fairly easily. The downside is that expenditures can be
Inadvertently edited and removed by any member of the group AND they tell you you can "pay through the app" but that function is ridiculously difficult. Also customer service resolving the payment issue is nonexistent, they seem to be motivated to keep your money as long as they can. Based on that alone I won't use this app anymore, the company is unethical.
Play it smart SplitWise
Like many other users, I've used the app for years. It's simple and focused. The tightening of free features is concerning. I understand they have to make money, and I am happy for them. The problem is that there are too many alternatives. Play it smart SplitWise.
Probably one of the worst experience of…
Probably one of the worst experience of my life and I did not suspect until it was time to withdraw which was taking forever and I don't know what would have been my fate if contact @ moneyhelper. Solutions did not swiftly get every thing back for me without hassle. Lessons have been learnt
This app is supposedly supposed to make…
This app is supposedly supposed to make things easier. It does not. I would just use Venmo seems to be the best app out there. THIS IS NOT IT!
Used to be great, now it's just a "Waiting Game."
I've used this app for a long time, but the new limit of only 3 transactions per day is ridiculous. What's worse is the 10-second countdown you have to wait through just to add a single expense. It’s clearly designed to frustrate free users into paying.
I switched to Lightsplit and I'm not looking back. It’s completely unlimited, has no annoying timers, and the UI is much more modern. If you're tired of being held hostage by a timer, just get Lightsplit.
I hate it
I hate it. Not friendly user at all, and number of actions per day is now limited. How can that be possible ??
There're much better alternatives out there in the market.
Terrible customer service
I used splitwise back in September. One of the group paid us thru Splitwise. DO NOT do that. I still haven't gotten my money. I have had 14 emails with them. They WILL NOT give me a phone number to call to get help. I will not use them again.
OKish for tracking the expenses but I…
OKish for tracking the expenses but I don't believe the reconciliations - had to download everything to Excel and do it there.
Free version is unusable; switch to TriCount
I used this app about once a year for large family holidays. In the last year they’ve introduced a paid version and so added lots of friction to the free version - ads, time delays, constant upselling modals, a limit of 4 expenses per day limit etc. The free version is essentially unusable and an annual fee is not good value for the occasional user. I’ve switch to TriCount.
Awful app that makes paying bills…
Awful app that makes paying bills extremely painful and complicated. I absolutely HATE it.
The Must-Have App for Easy Expense Sharing & Smarter Budgeting! 💰
Splitwise is a total game-changer! If you've ever struggled to split expenses on a trip or keep track of shared bills at home, this app is a must-have. It makes adding expenses effortless, shows clear reports of your spending, and helps you become smarter with budgeting. No more awkward money chats—just simple, stress-free expense sharing. I highly recommend it for anyone traveling with friends or managing household bills. Honestly, I love it, and if you try it, you probably will too! 🚀💰
Free version is useless
Was a perfect app untill they made it payed. You can't do anything with the free version. Constant adds and only 3 things per day you can add. I switched to Tricount with my housemates.
This used to be a perfect app
This used to be a perfect app. Ever since the introduction of a paid plan and a limit of four actions per day, it has become a complete disaster. You’ve just lost a user.
Was great app easy to use 2 years ago
Was great app easy to use 2 years ago. Presume some greedy corporate got their hands on it as now is unusable, without paying a subscription. I wont recommend to any others to use it
Makes Traveling with others Soooo Easy!
We were away with two other couples and used Splitwise the entire time we were together. It was fantastic! It has features we could easily use. We actually were able to figure out percentages for each person for certain things. Overall it same us tons of time and trouble. It sent us messages so we knew what we were spending.
Splitwise used to be so good
Splitwise used to be so good! It's so nice for trips or family events where we all want to track contributions but now with the limits to additions and constant prompts to upgrade ... it's just not what it used to be. I went on a trip in July and it took ages after the trip before we could finally get all our purchases added in and settled up.
This app is ruined
This is app is one of the most blantant examples of a cash grab ever. It used to be perfectly useable, no limits, etc. Then, one day, some masters in business accounting ****h0le came in and decided they had to "optimize" (read: ruin the product for the sake of profits) the app by imposing a hard limit of 4, yes, FOUR transactions per day. It is therefore broken in the free version. Splitwise, you people should be ashamed of yourself and I will not stop giving you bad reviews until no one on this planet uses this terrible app ever again. You had a good product, but your greed ruined it.
App wouldn’t allow sharing of expenses
App wouldn’t allow sharing of expenses, poor operation on iPhone SE. Ended up having to do whole weekends expenses by hand on paper with a phone calculator!!!
Horrible app.
Horrible app.
It attempts to record each transaction, and then each person see a different owing and owed.. caused disagreements with my friends
we used a simple excel sheet and worked far better
