Although I've never used Spike, I was very pleased when they responded to my report of a scammer sending emails via their system, to colleagues on my domain, and blocked the rogue user. It makes a pleasant change when a company lives up to its claims about taking security seriously.

For me, as a light email user, Spike is a mail app that's easy to use and navigate. I really like the 'Messenger'-like interface.
With other more standard / generic email apps, I have always tended to get bogged down trying to find the feature I want, and have had to navigate around the many features which I either don't want or don't understand. With Spike, for me, the experience is not at all stressful.
