My son has enjoyed online science lessons with Amanda for some years. And now is doing GCSE Biology through her HUB . Amanda is a fun and engaging teacher, ever so warm and clear. I think she is one of the best online teachers out there. She has practicalities of the whole online teaching really well thought out to minimise distraction and she keeps students really engaged. I feel so lucky to have found her.

My daughter has been in various Sparking Stem groups for several years - online Stem, Practical Science and Outdoor Stem, and they have been a real highlight of her home education. Amanda is a passionate educator, and has a fantastic gift of making science accessible, practical, fun and engaging, and explaining complex theory and concepts in concrete ways. Her manner is always calm, clear, kind and enthusiastic. She has been so helpful in supporting my daughter with her specific learning needs, providing additional supports for some over-learning and take-home explanations / reminders. Amanda is always thoroughly prepared and equipped, and her outdoor classes are never deterred by the weather - she is just even more prepared! Her website and email communication about the classes is also by far the most thorough of any home ed groups we have been part of. I would highly recommend Sparking Stem to anyone - just make sure you book quickly before spaces go!

My child is always excited to attend Sparking STEM Practical Science sessions. Amanda has extensive subject knowledge; every session is meticulously planned and prepared. The sessions are as suitable as a detailed first introduction to a scientific idea, as for hands on practical experimentation of concepts already studied. Amanda’s warmth and enthusiasm inspire young people to take part, and her creativity ensures that all sessions are interactive and accessible for those with varied learning styles to learn together. We cannot recommend Sparking STEM highly enough!

We've tried both outdoor stem and indoor practical classes and my son, who is quite particular about classes in general, has had a blast. He's been able to engage in depth in subjects that he enjoys and as a result, the topics he's less focused on have had a good look in as well. Amanda is very engaged, experienced and really develops sessions that bring out the best in the young people she works with. I don't think my son realises the amount of work that goes into these sessions, it's all quite seamless and fun for him! I recommended them to another parent in person today and will continue to do so with anyone who even vaguely mentions science and kids.

My son has SENeeds and Amanda has been great in working with us to help him get the most out of the sessions. She clearly cares a lot and the activities are really engaging.

My daughter loves her necklace and really loved that she could watch the video of the snake that provided the shed. She has not stopped wearing it since she got it. My messages were answered really quickly, I would definitely buy from sparking stem again.

What a fantastic experience my son had attending Sparking Stem! Amanda is knowledgeable, professional and has an amazing teacher manner. She put me at ease regarding my sons SENs, and my son throughly enjoyed the sessions.

Everything Amanda does is fantastic! The online sessions are just the right mix of theory and practical. They are very interactive and because the class size is perfect children can join in however they are most comfortable. Amanda is always inclusive and thoughtful and can answer almost any random question she gets. My kids have been involved in her sessions for years and they keep asking for more.

My child loves attending these sessions. Interesting and varied.

Amanda tutored my daughter for GCSE biology. She made such fantastic progress under Amanda’s tutorship that she went from a grade 3 to a grade 5 in just 3 months. More importantly she learnt to love biology! Amanda enthuses and educates in equal measure and is gentle and kind in her approach. Cannot recommend highly enough.

All three of my children have regularly attended Amanda's STEM classes- outdoors, online and GCSE practicals. We have never been disappointed. Amanda's enthusiasm and knowledge as an educator is inspiring. The children love her classes and learn so much. The learning environment she created is so happy and positive. If you're thinking of booking a class don't hesitate.

Outdoor Stem was the favourite part of our then eleven-year-old daughter’s home-schooled education, attending weekly sessions in all weathers at Forge Dam. She has since enrolled at secondary school and was fast-tracked into the top set for Key Stage 3 Science as she had already covered everything the teacher was planning on teaching!
We both heartily recommend to anyone planning a home-schooled timetable...
