As a very disgruntled customer of Space…

As a very disgruntled customer of Space Healthcare, I would urge you to look elsewhere if you want customer service with somebody that gives a damn, as you won’t find it here. I’m sure Mark Wevill is a fine surgeon, but his bedside manner stinks.
I went in with in my opinion was quite good distance vision, I was only starting to struggle with near vision and squinting to read. Having undergone lens replacement surgery, I now need to wear glasses permanently to have blur free vision, ironically with the exception of reading.
I raised concerns within weeks of the surgery, stating that I had blurred vision in my right eye & that my real-world distance vision was poor, especially in comparison to pre-op levels. I fully believed that my prescription was incorrect.
Mark Wevill, retort was “that there was nothing I could do about it” i.e. he believed that he was fully covered by the terms & conditions of the contract & that I had no recourse to complain. I attempted further discussion & I voiced my discontent at his attitude & the situation. I had only raised a concern over my vision, I had made no mention of recourse and so the fact that his immediate reaction was to push the contract as any sort of defence highlighted that he had no deference to me as a paying customer.
I have found throughout the process that when any push-back or questioning occurs he is immediately defensive, he is not at all open to discussion. I have found him to lack any genuine empathy, to quote him he generally states, “that he’s sorry that I’m disappointed with the result”, not that he himself is in any way disappointed, or indeed that he sees anything wrong or concerning despite he himself stating on numerous occasions that “he can’t see what I can see”.
My reading of his persona, if somewhat flippant with my remarks, is that he’s done everything that the book says should work, the machine says everything is good & dandy and therefore my opinion as the customer, despite being the one that can see the result of his handywork is completely & utterly irrelevant.
I requested a copy of my notes from Space Healthcare, my notes were inaccurate, it was therefore no wonder that I believed Mark Wevill was not listening to me, given that the recorded verbatim did not reflect what I had stated to him.
I told him of my visits to Specsavers & Boots & their opinion of my prescription. I asked him to comment as to why they would believe that I was short sighted in my right eye. His immediate reaction was to discredit them. I then asked him again why they would believe that I was short sighted, he stated “that he didn’t know why”.
I then challenged him regarding my experiments with contact lenses, I stated that with a corrective lens fitted to my right eye my vision was no longer blurred, my vision was well balanced, I saw no detriment to my near vision. I asked him as to why would my vision be improved by wearing a corrective lens, once again he stated, “I don’t know”.
o Mark Wevill as a professional ophthalmic surgeon, apparently doesn’t know why or how a corrective lens could improve & restore my vision?
Quite frankly, I find Mark Wevill a horrible little man, as I have found to my cost.

Professional and personal care.

A very professional operation with highly qualified and experienced staff.
You will find a very different experience here when compared to other similar optical and dental practices.
