Terrie was absolutely outstanding throughout the whole purchase of our property from start to finish, which unfortunately did take a while at no fault to sowerbys. She was constantly in contact keeping us up to date and really made us feel like valued customers! Thank you so much for your hard work Terrie I don’t think we could’ve asked for a better estate agent to buy through :)

We have not bought a house for 20 years, so it has been really helpful to have the team at Sowerbys guiding us. Jessica, was very professional and informative and Terie was helpful guiding us through each step, keeping us informed. We were grateful for the more personal service Sowerbys offers.
It wasn’t easy buying a house rented privately through a member of staff of Sowerbys. It was a very unusual situation.
We were happy with the service we received from Sowerbys and the goodie bag was a nice touch.

I’m currently purchasing a property through Sowerby’s and Katie Huggins has been such a huge help! Communication is bang on and they really do just crack on with it.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Sowerby’s for anyone selling or purchasing a property!
Thank you Katie and co!

Buying a property with Sowerbys was an excellent experience. As a young couple going through a sale and a purchase it is bound to be an extremely stressful process, however, Sowerbys Dereham went above and beyond, utilising the time we had, professionally. They are productive and respectful, kind and attentive!
When we come around to going through this wonderful process again, Sowerbys would be our number one pick.
A special thank you to the amazing Terie at the Dereham office for her determination throughout. She is great at her job and an incredibly supportive person. She answered all our queries successfully and continued to be knowledgeable to any questions raised up until the very end. It was a pleasure to meet Terie on our collection day, I hope anyone going through the process of buying or selling a house gets the pleasure of having a Terie.
Thank you all! The lovely ladies who showed us the property were again superb. An absolute treat and made us feel so welcome and at ease.
Choose Sowerbys, without a doubt! As someone who sends multiple emails a day, I can assure you, they always had the answer, and always acted quick.
Thank you all!

Louis and Katie, in the Dereham office, have been amazing. So friendly, quick to respond to every query and supportive throughout this experience. They seem to be on the ball at all times (even when our solicitor isn’t).
We originally listed our property with another company out of greed (🫣), as they valued our property £25k higher than the other agents, but even though they got us a sale at that higher amount, which we subsequently lost due to a neighbouring property’s actions, the work from that agents was poor.
We can’t fault Sowebys. Great staff, good customer communication and top rate service. We would highly recommend them.

Super impressed with the professional but empathetic service here. Buying our home was made as smooth as possible by the wonderful Terie who anticipated our questions before we’d even thought of them. She was utterly fabulous; a genuine fountain of knowledge but made us feel as if nothing was a silly question. She made such a difference, chivvying along the right people at the right time to get the results we needed.

Moving from Herts to Norfolk has been a daunting experience, looking for a suitable area and property was an equal challenge. After several trips and viewings we made our choice to settle in Dereham and have been dealing with Katie throughout the process. Her thoughtful, professional and communicative approach has made a very stressful process feel manageable and, at times, even enjoyable. Katie has been incredibly supportive from start to finish, always willing to answer questions, provide updates, and offer reassurance when needed. Her knowledge, patience, and genuine care have given us confidence throughout the entire journey. We are extremely grateful for her help and would not hesitate to recommend Katie and the team to anyone looking to move home. Thank you for helping us begin this exciting new chapter in Dereham.

Really reccomend their service. Didn’t end up buying a property through them in the end as my circumstances changed but their service along the way was so helpful. My agent, Honor, knew exactly how to find what was best for me from what I wanted and the day-to-day service was very welcoming. Will definitely check in with them again in the future.

We are using Sowerbys, Dereham for the first time and I would definitely never recommend any other estate agent!
Katie updates us on a weekly basis, more if required, but she isn’t just chasing our house sale, she chases the entire chain! She is amazing!
Thank you so much 🙏

I have just completed the sale of my house which was marketed by Sowerbys. It became somewhat protracted owing to difficulties down the chain. The sales staff remained focused and equable through the process and I was apprised of developments at each stage most efficiently. Honor, Louie and Terie were the main protagonists with Terie in the latter weeks becoming my main contact. She was admirably prompt in responding to the changing scenario and faultless in keeping all informed and committed; somehow contriving to remain positive and tolerant. I compliment her and those in the entire team at Dereham. I commend them all.

I can’t recommend highly enough!
The service that was provided by Sowerbys. Made the entire process streamlined. From constantly chasing things up to keep us in the loop.
We were assisted by Louie W, who went above and beyond to answer all our questions and help us understand the local area. I would recommend speaking to him for any of your needs!
Thanks again Sowerbys!!

Do not rent through Sowerbys!
As much as they are pleasant, helpful and the tenancy went through ok, when there is a problem they are less than helpful. My landlord told me he pays for the highest service but unfortunately they use cowboys for repairs and never check works when completed to see if quality workmanship. Ive had a water leak for a week now, they failed to get someone out immediately even though they told me electric and water is an urgent problem. Took them two days. Then when they did the fault was then left a further 4 days leaving me without hot water everywhere, or cold water upstairs (unable to flush toilet). I only have one toilet.
Then when plumbers came to fix, I found they had left something leaking into my airing cupboard.
During an i section the same week, they told me they use the cheapest services they can find. Im guessing that value is not passed on to the landlord. I had to have guttering replaced, and conservatory roof replaced but again took a few years to get done and then they used companies they admitted where poor. Problems not resolved there either and they had to get others back to look into.
Many fence panels and posts removed and on the last occasion the odd job man dug a hole inside the fence line rather than removing the old post/concrete. Again Sowerbys not bothered.
Staff are always pleasant and sound concerns but actions, follow ups and suitable resolves are very poor.

Thank you to Louie at the Watton Office for everything he did to help us secure our new home. He worked hard to get our purchase agreed and kept us informed every step of the way. He is approchable, honest and genuinely wanted to help us get the purchase done. Thank you for your hard work. We appreciate all that you have done.

Something has gone seriously wrong at Sowerbys. Paying around 2.7% in fees for the level of service I received represents exceptionally poor value for money.
I only wish I had read reviews like these before entrusting them with the sale of my successful holiday cottage.
Initially, communication was prompt and professional. We had several early viewings, although no offers. However, as activity slowed, the standard of service deteriorated noticeably. The sales app would notify me that a viewing had taken place, yet days would pass without any feedback. Even if there was no offer, providing a few lines of feedback after each viewing is surely the bare minimum an estate agent should do.
Several months into the process we accepted an offer, only for the buyers' "financial position" to change almost three months later. That inevitably raises questions about the quality of the financial checks carried out before the offer was accepted.
The most disappointing part came after a second buyer was found and, thankfully, the sale eventually completed.
This was not a standard residential sale. I was selling a busy, profitable holiday let, and the buyer intended to continue operating it. It was in both our interests to communicate so we could coordinate future bookings and maximise the summer season.
Despite repeated requests, Sowerbys' post-sales team either ignored my emails or gave excuses as to why they would not facilitate contact. On one occasion I was explicitly told that "the buyer does not wish to communicate until just before completion."
That statement turned out to be completely untrue.
I eventually obtained the buyer's details through our respective solicitors. She was genuinely shocked to hear what I had been told because she had been trying to contact me for exactly the same reason. As a direct consequence, the business missed opportunities to secure additional bookings for the season, and a member of staff at Sowerbys, my estate agent, had actually lied to me.
There are some pleasant and courteous people in the Hunstanton office, but that cannot disguise what was, in my experience, a poorly managed operation with weak communication, inadequate follow-up and a post-sales process that actively hindered, rather than helped, a successful transition.
I would not use Sowerbys again and cannot recommend them.
PS. The below response from Sowerbys did make me wonder if it was more for the readers in an attempt to impart an image of actually caring about the experience of their customers.
I wondered why they didn't just call me, as they have phone numbers, email and home address. Surely there weren't more customers who had experienced the utter cluster of a sale that week, and they couldn't work out which one had reviewed them?
But I thought I should play along and send my details so we could speak, and they could possibly try and do better for the next poor soul. Guess what..... Nearly two weeks later and I haven't been contacted, pretty much says it all!

Sowerbys sent me a letter as they saw I was advertising my property with another agent, saying I should trust them to sell my home. And so we visted their Fakenham office (featured on their letter) and checked their own website first to see they were open until 3 pm on Saturdays. We arrived at 1 pm, and the office was closed. On phoning, I was told their Fakenham office is permanently closed and has been shut for 6 weeks. I am just ASTOUNDED at how uncaring, misleading and unprofessional Sowerbys are!

A really poor experience with Sowerbys.
We had a nightmare of a time selling our house and buying a new home, largely because of chains breaking down and none of that was the fault of Sowerbys. But the whole experience could have been made a little more bearable if we had been dealing with staff who bothered to return phone calls, who came back to us with answers to our queries when they had promised to do so, who wrote polite courteous emails instead of short, curt updates and replies.
Max Sowerby claims he wants every client to feel they have received a first-class service.
Dream on Mr Sowerby. Readers of this review would be far better off dealing with any other high street estate agent or, better still, an online agency. Save your money and save your stress levels.
