Excellent, supportive communication from the outset with quick appointment access for women only. We have used The Somerville Clinic as Dr Catherine Durkin practices here. She is exceptionally knowledgeable in her field, leading in many areas, whilst providing a warm and genuine experience for individuals and their families. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She works closely with her clients to ensure the best possible care and outcomes and we trust her judgement and opinions.

From our first meeting two years ago, it was evident that Dr Durkin is a highly experienced Psychiatrist whose insight and patience has been invaluable in managing my ADHD journey. Whilst her academic knowledge, qualifications and practical experience speak for themselves, it is her kindness and patience that put her at the top of her profession. I had been in denial of any neurodiversity, but Dr Durkin's skilled coupling of compassion and being candid has made me feel safe and supported at all times, empowering me to accept the obvious!

When I moved to London from New Zealand I was not expecting to find it so difficult to get my repeat prescriptions for my ADHD. After quite a few ‘dead-ends’ I came upon The Somerville Clinic and it was a life saver.

Catherine Durkin is an incredible individual, so kind, understanding and knowledgeable. I’ve been a patient of hers for almost 12 months and I could not recommend her more!

Catherine Durkin did my original ADHD assessment two years ago and I transferred my care to the Somerville Clinic after discovering she had moved. I cannot recommend her highly enough. She is kind, empathetic, listens and truly understands her patients’ daily struggles, especially female patients. My shared care agreement reviews have all been processed promptly by Somerville. Her admin support (Rosie) is everything you wish your GP receptionists were - polite, efficient and understanding.

It is a private clinic but you will not be given the hard sell on services, something I dislike about private providers in general and which makes me reluctant to use them. I am very happy with the standard of my care here. My review appointments are often the only time I can discuss connections between health problems and my ADHD so I would certainly be worse off without them.

Catherine completed my ADHD Assessment and diagnosis in 2024 and has supported me with medication over the past few months which has improved my mental health dramatically at age 40. Meeting Catherine has changed my life and I feel truly grateful to have had the support of someone so highly skilled, who is warm, empathetic and has a wonderful uplifting energy.

I appreciate how Catherine has taken a holistic approach during our consultations and has also considered my experiences of hormonal changes and trauma and how they interrelate with ADHD.

I have also had a great experience with Rosie who has been really efficient and friendly when organising appointments.

I am highly recommending the clinic to other people I know who are looking for mental health support.

I went for an assessment with Catherine after she was recommended by a trusted colleague and experienced mental health professional. I am incredibly grateful that she was recommended to me, as she is clearly outstanding at what she does.

What I personally found valuable, is that she can work with complexity. As someone with ADHD, alongside a history of trauma and mental health challenges, it's been difficult to find clinicians that have a good understanding of how those things can present together- which has been surprising, considering how common the link is! Catherine not only has a nuanced awareness of how they can interact and overlap, but also really took the time to understand how they uniquely presented in my life.

As a result of the understanding I gained about myself from the process, as well as some incredibly thoughtful recommendations she gave me at the follow-up appointment, I've seen a genuine improvement in my life that has held up three months down the line.

I have had both Autism and ADHD assessments (separate assessments) with Dr Durkin and would highly recommend booking with her if you are looking to be assessed. I have already recommended her to a number of my (not yet diagnosed) ND friends and those who have gone ahead with an assessment with her have also been incredibly positive about the experience.

She is compassionate, understanding and incredibly efficient in her email responses/report writing. The booking process is also relatively simple, which is important for those who difficulties with executive function!

The diagnoses have been absolutely life changing for me, and I have no doubt in my mind that had I seen someone who doesn't understand the presentation in women so well I may have left my assessments feeling very differently about the experience.

I had an extended psychiatric assessment with Dr Catherine Durkin in August 2024 and I have continued to see her for reviews at a frequency that suited me best. I found her to be very understanding and validating of my struggles with CPTSD, ADHD, potential autism and potential PMDD. It feels rare to find a psychiatrist experienced in these areas, especially with women as neurodiversity can look different to common stereotypes and be difficult to spot. During my assessment I felt like I could say anything and I wouldn’t be judged or spoken to differently. This acceptance and understanding were similarly reflected in the report sent to me afterwards, where I felt my difficulties were summarised accurately but without any sense of superiority or dismissiveness as I have sometimes found with other professionals.

I felt reassured and hopeful following my assessment, as the issues I described struggling with for a long time which were not fully resolved with extensive prior treatment and effort were not only understood, but I was reassured that my experiences were not so uncommon. I came out with a treatment plan I was really happy with. It felt like a relief to be understood when explaining how hormones affect my mood and medication, for example, or how strange and misunderstood I have felt sometimes.

I found Dr Catherine Durkin to be attentive to details both during the assessment and in emails before and after this; I am someone who really appreciates details and found her responses to my lengthy emails kind, validating, helpful and professional. My prescription and report were sent quickly and any questions I had afterwards were answered quickly too. She is quite clearly an expert in her field and identified some subtle symptoms that other psychiatrists had not picked up on and that I hadn't considered, which had a positive and quite revolutionary effect on my treatment.

I would really recommend Dr Catherine Durkin as a psychiatrist if you have similar conditions or experiences.

I cannot recommend Dr Catherine Durkin and Somerville Clinic enough. As someone who was very anxious in the lead up to the appointment (and conveniently forgot my bag in a cafe beforehand!), she immediately put me at ease with her friendly and professional demeanour. I opted for an in-person assessment and I was very worried that the session would feel like a tick-box exercise which I know a lot of people report in other clinics. This was not at all the case with Somerville Clinic. Some forms are filled out in detail ahead of time by myself and a family member. Then on the day, I had a very natural and flowing conversation about my history to date. I felt we covered my entire life story in depth, it felt like we had lots of time and I didn’t feel rushed at all, and above all, I felt totally heard and understood, especially with regards to my experience as a woman and the impact around my cycle. The detailed report was turned around within a day and I was on a treatment plan the next day. Dr Catherine Durkin and Somerville Clinic exceeded my expectations in every way. At 30 years old, I am finally beginning to understand myself and hold more compassion for myself. 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

I recently had the privilege of undergoing both an ASD and ADHD assessment with Dr. Catherine Durkin, and I cannot express enough how transformative this experience has been.
