Villa Rafalet

We returned last week from a lovely 2 weeks in Javea, Spain. Villa Rafalet was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The villa has plenty of separate seating areas all with wonderful views. It was particularly hot during our visit, we enjoyed and very much appreciated the pool. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was very much needed for sleeping, unfortunately the lounge did not have air conditioning although the ceiling fan was a help.
We have booked through Solivillas for the past couple of holiday rentals and their service has been exceptional.

Great week at Las Pinas in Javea

We have just returned from a wonderful week at villa Las Pinas.
The villa is bright and modern with so many places to eat or relax. It is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. We spent a lot of time during the day relaxing round the gorgeous pool but did a bit of exploring locally.
Javea and Arenal beach were reachable by car (it was too hot to walk!) and there were plenty of supermarkets in the area.
Cala Blanca beach is about 20 minutes stroll away and is lovely to visit early in the morning.
We also booked a kayak trip to Cala Tango which was great value and good fun.
We drove to Arenal in the evenings for food as there is so much choice but we had a really lovely meal at the Oasis restaurant at the bottom of the hill which was was walkable.
The owners and management are very easy to contact and very responsive. Directions were very clear and the journey was just over an hour from Alicante.
Would definitely recommend.

Villa Felicia Javea

In general our opinion of villa Felicia (Javea) was that it was scruffy and poorly maintained; and looked as though it had been through a particularly heavy rental period (although it was still early in the rental season!!!). Some of the issues we found had a Health & Safety impact and present a hazard in particular to children.
Outside......the garden is overgrown and needs cutting back especially around the patio areas. On our arrival there was a lot of tree debris surrounding the pool which we spent over an hour sweeping and clearing up (appreciate its a rural area however should have been ready for our arrival). We found loose and broken tiles on the steps to the pool, and an unusable pool net with several tears & holes. The parasols are in a poor condition, as are the bases (one particularly rusty) and the sun beds are old and worn with no cushions. Two large areas in the external bar wall are rotting and damaged and there are exposed live electrics both in the bar and in the garden area. There is a need for a light above the rear outside steps for safe evening use. After a week we had to request pool cleaning and bizarrely was asked why we wanted it. From previous experience at other villas, pools are normally cleaned at least once a week.
Inside.....There were exposed live electrics in a socket in the downstairs master bedroom and no aerial / coax connection to the TV, also a non-working electric socket in the second downstairs bedroom. No back rest cushions on the blue settee and unbelievably, no oven in the kitchen. One reason for booking a villa is to have the option to self cater...... absolutely impossible to cook a family meal in the small portable "oven" provided on one of the work surfaces (looks like a microwave in the villa description photos)! A sideboard drawer in the lounge had no base in it and the coffee table had a large glass surface top which was unstable. Some of the windows looked as though they hadn't been cleaned for a while, mosquito nets were torn, and the smoke alarm in the lounge area wasn't working. We only discovered after paying our deposit and final payment that a linen and towel change was not included (our fault for not reading the T&Cs), and that we were required to wash the pool towels at the end of our stay for the next occupants or face a £50 laundry charge; which we considered to be a rather unhygienic process (unknown whether previous occupants comply!) The photos and descriptions of the two downstairs bedrooms are quite misleading and led us to believe that they were actually of a reasonable size which just wasn't the case (room for a bed only)! The "winter sun room" is a green house which partially blocks path access to the car port! One positive however is the superb 10m x 5m swimming pool with jaccuzi. Photos are available to support these issues if necessary.
For the rental asking price of this villa one might reasonably expect some niceties such as a linen change, cushions on the sunbeds and a normal sized oven at the very least! The villa does not live up to the description and was a disappointment. Certainly not a villa for a family with small children or the older client!

Amazingly Chris Gosling spent two full weeks at our beautiful Casa Felicia and did not contact Solivillas once. He had all our contact details and we always respond very quickly so I was shocked to see this review.
We always respond to any issues if we are given the opportunity which we weren’t on this occasion.
I dispute his allegations - Casa Felicia is a lovely well maintained villa in Javea and if you check our website you will see it’s excellent reviews. This is the link to Casa Felicia https://solivillas.com/property/detail/Casa-Felicia
Chris was well aware that he could request a linen change but didn’t. The beach towels are offered as a courtesy as many guests say they can’t fit them
in their luggage. If guests don’t want them they don’t have to use them.
Best Regards

Highly recommended stay in Javea.

Highly recommended stay in Javea.

We booked a short break in Javea through Solivillas and had a wonderful time. The booking process was straightforward and any queries we had prior to our arrival were answered quickly. We were reassured to know that if we encountered any issues or needed advice there would be someone available locally from Solivillas that would be able to help. The villa was perfect with stunning views and excellent facilities. Solivillas exceeded our expectations, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to family and friends.

Solivillas-Javea

I have used this company many times for holiday rentals in Javea I have found them professional and very easy to work with.
Liz who runs the company with her team are always on hand if needed-I find it comforting to know there is someone there to help me should anything go wrong.
We have rented 4 villas through Liz and each one has been exactly to the specification advertised. The photos on their website are a true reflection of the villa you will be staying in.
I would not hesitate to recommend Solivillas and in fact, we have just booked again through them for summer 2023 😊

Happy holidays in Javea

Late review from a stay in Javea last summer with the wonderful Solivillas!

On booking, I was initially hesitant due to the lack of recent reviews but I was thoroughly reassured from Elizabeth, who guided me through the entire booking process whilst answering any concerns we had.

On arrival the property was clean, described accurately as per the listing and had all the amenities as promised.

The pool was simply 'amazing' and the ability to prepare our own food was aided by the abundance of homely equipment available in the kitchen.

A couple of days into our stay, one of the main lights outside 'went', potentially creating a trip risk. After a quick phone call, a member of Elizabeth's team arrived within the hour to change the bulb! Talk about service!

Overall we've had a wonderful stay in Javea, mainly down to Soli Villas and their seamless management. Nothing seemed too much trouble and we are already in the process of booking again this summer.

Happy holidays 😎

Misleading and very disappointing

This company operates in a very misleading manner.
I enquired about a villa on a site called SimplyOwners and received this reply by email:
'Here is a copy of the enquiry you sent to Elizabeth Kershaw our Holiday Home Owner. The homeowner has been sent your enquiry and should reply directly to your email address provided, or contact you on your phone number if you provided one.'
As my enquiry progressed it became more and more confusing. My next email came from a company called Solivillas but I was still under the impression the villa I'd enquired about belonged to a woman called Elizabeth Kershaw. This was not true. Elizabeth Kershaw appears to be the owner of a villa rental company based in Manchester. I discovered when I arrived that the villa I booked belonged to a German woman named Martina. The villa was full of the family's personal items, with no room in the kitchen to store groceries. Although the fridge was clean and empty the rest of the kitchen was grubby, particularly the cupboard door handles and the cutlery tray ( which I'd go so far as to call filthy). The sink was dirty and there were food spatters on the tiles below the serving hatch and the wall tiles between the hob and microwave.
The TV, which had been advertised, wasn't working on our arrival. Someone called Sam came with her partner to look at it for us and, almost a week later, fixed it, only for us to discover that it had German channels, not English as one would expect when booking with an Englishwoman.
The smell from the ensuite was truly awful. This was mentioned to Sam the first time we met her but nothing was done about it. If the door to the ensuite wasn't kept closed, the smell of drains permeated the bedroom, hall and shower room. It was horrible! Something else that was horrible was the excrement all over the unkempt gravel 'garden' at the front of the property. We were told by Sam that this was due to dog walkers letting their dogs foul on there but later discovered it was due to the dog next door, who was kept outside all the time and she was able to escape from their garden.
Positives? A couple. The view from this property is beautiful and the side road it's on is quiet. Sadly though, these by no means outweighed the negatives and I would not recommend, nor would I ever again use, Solivillas.
When I texted Elizabeth to discuss my concerns with her she told me Sam was my point of contact then ignored me. Unprofessional and very disappointing.
Having just read the company's reply, I'll add disingenuous to my observations. The fact that Sam didn't mention the smell doesn't mean I didn't tell her about it on our first meeting. It didn't happen while I was there; it was clearly an ongoing issue from before we arrived. As for telling the gardener about the garden...are you kidding? That front area hasn't been attended to by a gardener for goodness knows how long! Perhaps that's why no-one has noticed, or repaired, the missing piece of stone from the centre of one of the front steps which is actually a trip hazard. If you're endeavouring for excellence you have a long way to go, including not ignoring a client when she's expressly asked to speak to you personally, not Sam.

Dear Angie
Thank you for taking the time to review Casa Martina.
I am sorry that you had not realised that I wasn’t the villa owner. I thought I had been transparent that Solivillas was a holiday rental company and that we managed the property on the owners behalf. I did send you all the details about our company before any money exchanged hands.
Regarding the cleaning I am surprised by your comments as we use an external company to carry this out. If anything had been over looked they would have returned until you were happy with the standard of the clean. I was not aware that you had an issue with the cleaning or lack of cupboard space.
On checking your booking I see that the local representative attended to the TV and there was no mention of a bad smell. The cleaning company hadn’t noticed any bad smells either so I’m sorry if something occurred whilst you were there.
As for the gravel at the front we will ask the gardener to attend to this more frequently.

At the time of your stay you were directed to our resort manager as she was best placed to assist you.

All your additional comments have been noted.

I’m pleased that you enjoyed the view and the quiet location of the villa.
We do strive to offer excellent accommodation and service to all our customers.

Sadly not a great stay at this villa

Sadly not a great stay at this villa - Villa Rafalet.
I could see there were stairs when i booked but i wasn't aware of how many steps and stairs to get to the villa from the car.
However it was more the state of the villa itself. The list of broken things - a window - this had a sign on it that it was waiting to be replaces - this meant that for the duration of our stay the villa was not secure as it was open.
The rotary dryer - broken and on the floor outside.
The tap by the car for washing off sandy stuff from the beach - not working.
A dead rotting rat in the back garden that had been there for days clearly when we arrived.
Buttons to operate the electric gate - broken
Lock box to secure the keys to the villa - broken and open
Constant power cuts - not Spanish ones - inside the villa. Trip switch kept going.
Whilst we were there there was a huge electrical storm. It blew through the broken window and soaked the lounge and sofa. We cleaned up, washed the covers etc. It also blew over one of the parasols (which we had not used, touched or moved) and the owners deducted this cost from our deposit even though i emailed the next day to explain about the storm etc and that this wasn't our fault.
I did not expect perfection, but the villa is very tired and has lots wrong with it. I wouldn't recommend this villa for anyone with a family or children or anyone over the age of 50.

Also check the weather is going to be perfect because if anything happens (tiles falling off a roof in a storm?) it seems you may be charged for it...

In my opinion - give it a wide berth.

Thank you for your review. I’m sorry that Villa Rafalet didn’t meet your expectations. I was very surprised to read your review as you had emailed me on two occasions during your stay telling me how lovely the villa was and what a nice time you were having.
We have always had excellent reviews from previous guests. The villa is in pristine condition and very well maintained.
There was quite a lot of damage caused during your stay which has now been fixed.
Many Thanks
