Scaffolding problems

Solar bureau were used via the solar together scheme. Encountered the same issues as the review dated the 6th of February 2026. I had a good experience during the installation phase and the system appears to work well. Staff were helpful until the system was installed. However, is it over three weeks since installation and I still have scaffolding across the back of my house, the scaffolders have failed to turn up on two occasions and solar bureau whilst polite have been ineffective and have not returned calls or followed up. I can’t open bedroom windows ,back door or the lounge by-folds , as well as the patio being unusable. Solar bureau cannot provide a date when this will be resolved. On this basis cannot recommend this company. Will be notifying the solar together team as well as procurement leads in local authorities as this appears to be where they get a lot of their business.

Solar bureau used via solar together…

Solar bureau used via solar together setup with local authorities. Had major issues with the scaffolding - they were planning to leave it up for over a month which was blocking a main exit to the house and showed little interest when I explained we had two young children, one of whom had already run into it. Spoke to them about 20 times on the issue and also had to speak directly with the scaffolder to try and get it taken down.

Also had major issues with the system in that the app didn’t work … spoke to them daily for nearly a month to try and get resolved. Unbelievably poor service, such little interest in trying to get things resolved. Requested escalation and complaint process - essentially told there was no one to speak to. Avoid at all costs.

Very disappointing after-sales support…

Very disappointing after-sales support and unresolved system fault with my 13 panel solar system which is only a year old.

I reported a fault in my solar/battery system on 6 Nov 2025, as it was charging/discharging at the wrong times, costing me £3 extra per day. I’ve emailed 16 times, provided photos, and called nearly every day. While their staff member Adil Certel has been polite and tried to help, there’s been no effective resolution and a booked engineer visit for 12th Dec was cancelled. I was even asked to fit a CT clamp myself, which I raised was unsafe to do as it required wiring into the fuse box.

My request to speak to a manager and ask about compensation for extra costs has still not been acknowledged or answered. I cannot recommend The Solar Bureau without significant improvements to their support and responsiveness.

Solar Bureau had good communication…

Solar Bureau had good communication from start to finish Scaffolding and installation were as planned.Scaffolding team very friendly and professional.The two man installation team did a great job worked hard all day to complete and friendly, helpful and tidy Could not fault the experience from start to finish.

Solar Bureau experience.

Two surveyors came out with a drone, inspected the barn roof and took pictures. SB sent out a quote with plans, the amount of panels the roof could take along with fitting time.

Once the quote was accepted, all online, third party scaffolders came out then a few days later the fitting team arrived and were fast and efficient.

SB electricians followed, plugged everything in and checked it all. They also gave me general advice on the panels and usage.

SB office set me up on the app and website so can track usage etc. Also advised the grid on the feed in to the grid. Pretty good communication with the office who looked into my queries.

Only issue i have is in summer the panels over produce and can stop the hybrid inverter until it goes back/cools down to within parameters. SB electricians came out and checked everything but it still happens.

Overall happy, though not sure how much i saved as it was a collective thing with the local mayor.

Poor communication but good now

This started through Bedfordshire Solar Together initiative and The Solar Bureau winning the contract.

£150 deposit and the process started.

A survey was arranged. This was generally poor. Gents came out - took some photos and left. System requirements were not discussed and I had no idea what to go for.

A design was then sent through. This was good, but nothing explained at all. I could only read the information sheet.

Having paid a deposit the paperwork was done very efficiently and a date for scaffolding & fitting was agreed. This was excellent.

Scaffolders came and smashed a roof tile. They called me straight away to say. I really appreciated this call, and the tile was fixed with a new tile when the scaffolding came down.

On the day a two man non English team turned up eventually. They were absolute grafters and very tidily fitted £10K worth of kit. Problem is - they couldn’t explain anything - and when I asked if they could program it - they said “no - your house”.
They left.

My PodPoint charger didn’t work. The team didn’t care about that. Managed to adjust app settings and got that working.

I paid the remainder so the system ownership comes to me.

Got an email with an app link promising it was set up. It didn’t work.
I have no control over the charging and no control over battery charging. No customer service from Fox to call and just a stupid AI Bot. I’ve emailed them.

Overall - I’ve been left to fumble my way through this. I have no idea what to do next.

Eventually it’s a; set up and I’ve got all the paperwork. The Fox app is good. I would say compared to the big brand electric car batteries, mine look big and very clunky. If you can use the T company - I would.

Overall and after time, it was good, but I could have had better comms.

Couldn't be happier

Soar Bureau fitted our solar panels in January and we have been really impressed with how well they have worked so far and the service received. All the information we needed to complete our decision to fit the panels was received quickly and explained well. The fitters were brilliant, explaining how the system worked, completing a neat job and tidying up after themselves. All the relevant documentation and guarantess were received very shortly after the fitting and the system reduced our bills from day one. Thank you Solar Bureau
