I recently visited Action Sod Landscape…

I recently visited Action Sod Landscape to purchase grass and stepping stones. I ended up buying 45 stepping stones, and the staff helped load them into my car. However, once I got home, I realized that two of the stones were broken.

The following morning, I returned to the store with the two broken stones while planning to buy additional items. I explained to the cashier that I had received the stones in that condition and asked if I could get a replacement or store credit.

The cashier contacted her supervisor, Rosario, who said there was nothing they could do because the items should have been checked before leaving the premises. I asked to speak directly with Rosario and explained that I’m a regular customer and wasn’t aware that I was responsible for checking the items before leaving—especially when their staff loaded them for me.

Rosario reiterated that she could not offer a refund or replacement, claiming there was no way to prove the stones were broken before they left the store. I pointed out that as a customer, I rely on their team to ensure the items are in good condition. I also expressed my disappointment that they would rather lose a loyal customer than stand behind the products they sell.

Rosario simply responded, “There’s nothing I can do about it.”

Unfortunately, based on this experience and the lack of customer support, I won’t be returning to this business again. Customer service matters—especially when you’ve supported a place consistently—and this response was unacceptable.

I sent the below review as an email 2X to Sod Solutions. Since they have not responded to either email, I am posting it as a review for others to know of their work.

I’ve purchased sod pods from Sod Solutions for the past two years. This year the quality of Citra Blue was very disappointing.

The grass pods were received with the two packages looking as if the boxes were previously opened and then re-tapped poorly. That was not the case, the issue was the pods had grown so tall and overgrown that they did not fit the height of the box container

While the installation information says it is good if the grass pods grow together. In my situation by the time I was able to separate the pods. The multiple layers of grass runners all ran together. Which choked out most of the grass growing out of each pod. Leaving me with grass stubs and no green grass. Even the runners were leggy with no grass showing except at the very ends.

The 2025 pod quality is poor and not what I was use to based on previous experiences.

I’m following up to Sod Solutions response to my initial review.
I ordered Citra Blue, but was sent a different product. The two correspondents on 3/15 and 3/18 were informing you of the error and asking when a new flat of Citra Blue would be sent.
As of the 4/2//2025
No one has ever responded back to me regarding the poor quality of the Citra Blue

BEWARE!!! Shady Practices and They Remove All 3⭐ and Below Reviews on Their Site!

This company is shady and appears to remove all 3⭐ or below (definitely the 1⭐ and 2⭐) reviews from their web site! Mine never showed up for anyone except me, and now is completely gone. Last year, SodSolutions had posted on every social media site and via several e-mails an offer stating that orders over $200 would get a free New Lawn Starter Box (4-Pack of fertilizer) if you ordered sod or plugs by March 11th. So, I ordered $259.96 of CitraZoy plugs on March 11th. I didn't get the free New Lawn Starter Box, so I e-mailed them about it but didn't receive anything back the first day (you are supposed to fertilize right after planting the plugs), so I filled out the e-mail form and said:

"I sent an e-mail to the e-mail address on this page, but have not received a response. I received my plugs yesterday, but the free New Lawn Starter Box Fertilizer that I was supposed to receive with it for ordering $200+ by 03/11/2024 was not included. When should I receive it? I am planning to plant the plugs tomorrow, so I was really hoping to have it by then so I could do the first application of Grow afterwards, like your web site recommends.

You sent me multiple e-mails with the offer for the free New Lawn Starter Box and you posted the offer several times on your social media accounts, so I don't understand why it was not sent with my order when I did exactly what it said had to be done to get it. Plus, I never received a tracking # for my order and didn't even receive an e-mail confirmation until the day I received the plugs."

Then, they removed only every social media post that mentioned the offer, and after that they responded to my e-mail saying the offer ended on March 8th. So, I blew up in my response and even though they removed all the social media posts, luckily still had the e-mails that also said March 11th, so I included those. They responded saying that there was a date mismatch and all the posts and all the e-mails had the wrong date, but said they would send it since it was their error (more like because I had proof of it), and they did finally send it. I had left a bad review on their site after their first response and only I could see it when logged in at first and now it is completely gone, even though I see good reviews from years ago...

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY! SCAMMERS. TRIED TO HIGH JACK ME FOR A "DELIVERY INSURANCE FEE" OF $120. I knew these guys were too good to be true. They stiffed me on an order and left me high and dry.

Not even 1 star

Not even 1 star. Pallet had many dead pieces. Contacted them to let them know good was looking even worse and they sent an email of what it might be with no suggested solutions. Emailed a video of the completely browned out sod and got no response! Today my husband and I had to remove all the dead sod which did not root at all - not one piece. We did everything as we were told to including the starter kit. Now we have to purchase another pallet from anyone but this rip off company. Bad look UF, bad look. Shame on you for claiming this is some miracle sod. It’s literally the worst I’ve ever seen.

6 pallets - half of one was dead & grubs too

I ordered 6 pallets of the new (and expensive) CitraBlue St. Augustine, that you can only get from Sod Solutions. Three weeks prior to ordering, I killed 2,400 sq ft of weeds via burning and some weed killer. Any remaining dead weeds were then removed by hand. Three soil samples were taken and the appropriate nutrients added to the soil. Then soil was tilled and watered down a few days before the pallets arrived. I asked if I could get the pallets delivered late on a Friday because it was getting laid Saturday morning. No communication and the 6 pallets show up at 10:00 am Friday. It was nearing record heat in S Florida so I flipped over any top pieces that were upside down, and then watered every pallet multiple times throughout the day and into the evening. As the sod is getting laid, I'm noticing pieces that already nearly, or completely, dead. I assumed these were the top pieces on the pallets, but they were not. The grass was watered about 3-4 inches deep that evening and again the next morning due to the extreme heat. After that, the grass was watered 7 inches deep every day for two weeks. In total, I received about a half a pallet (200 sq ft) of dead grass. And to boot, when I moved a few pieces in the first few days, I noticed they provided me with grubs too. The grass that did take root looks fantastic and is thriving, not to mention the rest of my lawn that is pristine. That's how I know it wasn't anything I did.

Update 7/11/24 Customer service reached out to me after I left the above review on their website. They said they would send me 2 trays of plugs to fill in the dead spots, but they only sent 1 tray. In the meantime, more of the new grass continued to die and that's when I learned there were chinch bugs. So not only did I get some dead grass, some of the grass I did get had grubs and chinch bugs. And when I went back to update my review on their website, I couldn't find it. I guess they can just delete bad reviews.

The plugs were tiny

The plugs were tiny. Supposed to be 3" by 3", they were 3/4 by 3/4. 72 plugs in a tray that is normally used for 16 plugs. These plugs are a joke.

I ordered a flat of St

I ordered a flat of St. Augustine Grass plugs to place in my yard in So. Carolina. Within a week of ordering, I received them in GREAT SHAPE, I held off a week before planting since I did not want to put them in shock, keeping them watered every other day. They have been in the ground now for about a week and EVERY PLUG is thriving. I plan on ordering another flat in the near future.

I bought two trays of Bermuda grass…

I bought two trays of Bermuda grass plugs and they arrived dead. Contacted SOS Solutions and thay told me that they would replace them. The plugs never were delivered as promised. After I emailed and called them several times they stopped all communications. Complete rip off. Don’t buy anything from them.

Waste of Money

Unfortunately, it looked good but was a total waste of money. I ordered two trays of sod and the grass was so grown together through its runners that I had to cut them apart and tear some up just to get them out of the tray. I planted them, watered them, but some (the top tray) were already whitish in color, not vibrant green (I have photos). I will NEVER try this grass or company again.

Horrible service - buyer beware

Horrible service - twice. Below is the note I wrote to Sod Solutions the first time in 2019. I didn't learn my lesson and ordered from them again in February 2021. Same non existent service - they don't return phone calls or emails and definitely don't manage service or delivery with the farm. And this time, the lawn was infested with Grubs, which apparently happened after delivery; I explained to them why that wasn't possible after raising my yard 8 inches with a new soil mix. Well, here is my first note in 2019, which sums up all of my experiences with Sod Solutions.

To whom it might concern,

I wanted to express my disappointment over the extremely poor management of my sod delivery. Although at a significantly higher price point per pallet, I specifically contracted with sod solutions because of the option to pick my delivery date.

The ordering process was easy and efficient. I immediately received a delivery date confirmation email. Although the email only included the date, I assumed a morning delivery, especially after the emphasis of getting the sod installed within 24 hours.

I decided to call around 10 am EST when the sod hadn’t been delivered for an estimated delivery time. After several calls and leaving messages, it was confirmed that the sod would be delivered between 12p and 1pm.

At 1pm, I called again and left messages. It’s was another hour before I learned that the sod wouldn’t be delivered as promised because of “truck mechanical problems”. I talked directly to Action Sod around 2.45pm.

I had to pay the sod the installers for the day, although there was limited work they could do. The installers couldn’t return until Saturday due to other commitments.

Since my installers could be at my home until Saturday morning, I very specifically asked Action Sod for a ~12pm delivery so the the sod wouldn’t sit in my driveway for a day.

Action Sod knocked on my front door at 7.45am with the sod delivery. After receiving the sod, it was apparent that the sod was the sod that should have been delivered the previous day and I couldn’t wait 24 hours to install the sod. It was already very dry and would be in extremely poor condition if I waited.

I cancelled my appointments for the day and then individually loaded the sod, transported it 100 feet by wheelbarrow to the back yard, leveled the ground, installed the sod, and then watered it.

I installed approximately 850 sq ft over the next 9 hours in the Florida sun. It was absolute nonsense for me to have to do this type of work, by myself, because of such poor planning and communication on your part.

I received an email to confirm delivery with a request to complete a survey. After such a failure to deliver, I would have expected a personal note apologizing for such poor service.

Ripped off.

I ordered 72 sod plugs. I was very careful with them. I planted them with pot soil so the would have a good start. They turned brown and I contacted the company and was told that they may have been over watered and I should use nitrogen rich fertilizer, which i did, Still no growth I pulled several plug and the roots never rooted. I contacted Sod Solutions again and again I was told that I had 24 hours to report a problem. They don't care about delivering a quality product or their costomers. Don't waste your money.

I ordered the "New Lawn Starter Box" a few days before my new sod was installed. I received no tracking information until emailing them. I will receive the product 14 days after initial order, completely voiding the purpose of this product. I recommend you go elsewhere for lawn products.

IT'S A SCAM

This company appears to be a scam. I placed an order with them for $84. They never shipped the items or contacted me about shipments or any delays. I emailed them weeks later about my order and they also never even responded or refunded my money. Beware and careful!
