Once upon a time, before Sobeys was bought out and moved to Ontario, the stores were pretty good. Big business took hold and amongst their foul ups is the Scene app. The software doesn't always work... See more

Amanda made my day

Today I was at Sobeys Timberlea and had the pleasure to be served by a wonderfully pleasant cashier named Amanda. The term speed, accuracy and coordination defiantly apply as I was in the longest line but was served very quickly and with a smile that made me feel like we were old friends. Please pass on my sincere thanks to Amanda her attitude really made my day.

I went into Freshco today with my…

I went into Freshco today with my shopping list and a couple of my items were going to be price matched. However as of a couple of weeks ago they only price match now with a few stores which does not include Fortinos, metro etc ((+ most of the other larger stores no more) . I was price matching an item for Fortinos butter but when told I couldn't I asked the cashier why. All she could do was stare at me like I had 2 heads and point to the new list of stores they could price match with. I told her that as far as I am concerned that spells bad customer service and a lost customer. I took one item from my cart that was under 5.00, paid for it and told her she can put everything else from my cart back on the shelf. I am a senior and know a LOT of people that shop Freshco because of the price matching. But no more - why bother?? I called their head office in Brampton and asked about the new price matching rules and she told me "I cant give you an answer why, but I can give you a list of stores that we can price match with" . Told her I already saw it posted in the store and the main grocery stores were not listed - like Fortinos, Metro, etc. She then told me that "some stores do still match the bigger stores and I was to go and take a look as they are all different and I would know which store to go in" . In other words, go all over the place just to find a Freshco that price matches with one of my items then go to another Freshco miles away to match another item.... !! So Freshco head office was no help at all - couldn't even tell me the reason why the price matching changes- but OK to lose customers I guess. The only reason I can think of is money and greed, or the stock phrase everyone uses for bad customer service "it's because of Covid ". Will never shop in Freshco or their head office Sobeys again, and you lost a 50.00 grocery order!

I am a bit disappointed at Sobeys

I am a bit disappointed at Sobeys. My wife purchased a compliments product yesterday. It was the wrong item and wanted to return it. It was not opened
and could be resold. She was told that Sobeys does not accept returns on any products. I don't understand why. There is no signage in the store, the
receipt does not state no returns and your website does not state they do not accept returns. This is totally unacceptable. Here is what is stated on
your website:

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What is your product return policy?
A: Sobeys has a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Promising 100% satisfaction and “no excuses,” the guarantee ensures money back or a free replacement on any item that left a customer unsatisfied for any reason.

Compliments/Signal: If ever one of our products does not meet your expectations, please feel free to return it to the store on your next visit. Your purchase will gladly be replaced or refunded, and your comments, with complete product information, will be forwarded to the Compliments Customer Care Team.

I understand the difficulties you…

I understand the difficulties you experience with sending people up the trees and handpicking the berries. Everything has its price. It is simply fantastic that you worried so much about health and wellbeing of Canadians posting warnings and incorporating measures to fight the bad virus. However it way beyond hipocricy if your verbal approach is in disagreement with your action. To fight any virus successfully human immune system must work properly. Vitamins are received from vegetables and fruits. When at the end of June standard cherries are sold at 6.99CAD/lbs (that is 15.72CAD per kg) your worries about human health are overshadowed by worries for your profits. You are thiefs, liars and crooks. (especially given the fact, that your sister Superstore is more than twice cheaper). Shame on you!

Dear Sobeys

Dear Sobeys, entering your store its very clean and I appreciate that! When leaving the store it is very difficult! When you have a lot of groceries for a full family and you're Beggin your own stuff. You feel rushed as they call the next person up to stand there as you have barely payed and started bagging yet! And then I had another guy behind the other till asking to me to move twice, when they can fully see that I am struggling to pack all of my groceries for my family, I ended up throwing my groceries in the cart & begging them at my car! I can not Imagine a senior having to do this as everyone sits and looks at you to be finished already! Horrible experience lack of consideration not the first time!

The staff is excellent

The staff is excellent, by problem is with their products. Purchased some extra lean hamburger today and it was very greasy and disgusting. Made one hamburger which sat in a puddle of grease. poured the grease out ( about 3 or 4 TBSP ) but still tasted gross so threw it out. Not sure what your definition of extra lean is but that was not it. I think this is the standard should have known better. Will not buy it there again

No Baskets/ trolleys

Went to Sobeys Store on a Friday night to do my weekly grocery shopping only find that there were no trolleys or baskets available At front door! Apparently they were all stacked up at the tills! Pretty shocking that you walk into a store to only have to go searching for a basket/ trolley!! When I approached a staff member explaining the situation I was handed a basket and told they were very busy! I totally understand that at times staff members can be totally run of their feet, but not keeping a check on this basic item is pretty bad! Wasn't impressed with the response so left basket down and went to Atlantic Superstore instead!

The store manager at Sobeys on Scott…

The store manager at Sobeys on Scott St. in St. Catharines has directed all of his cashiers to ask for ID from any and all customers who wish to purchase wine. This is not very smart (i.e. if the LCBO doesn't ask seniors for ID - why should Sobeys??) - and it discriminates against seniors and makes cashiers feel uncomfortable. This store should rethink their policy - or the store manager should be replaced.

What are they hiding?

I love bread and defy current "low carb" trends (quoting numerous nutritional facts and digestive needs; all my own opinion of course, but backed up by my choice of citations). Sobey's artisan breads are excellent. Tasty, chewy ... pretty much perfect in every way as far as I'm concerned. However, the Sobeys chain isn't remotely intersted in providing nutritional information or even a complete list of ingredients. I wrote to inquire. Twice. To no avail. "Silence" isn't always the best answer.

My question and concern (given that I like to know the sugar, salt and fat content of everything I ingest)? How do they get away with circumventing labelling laws? (Check the packaging and you'll see what I mean.) Perhaps more importantly, WHY are they not providing ingredients and nutritional information?
