My only regret is that I didn't discover Smith.ai sooner. In the last week, I've received more leads that in the previous 2 months. What I appreciate most about Smith.ai is the exceptional customer service and the meticulous attention to detail, specially when scheduling new leads. The onboarding support was perfect, they ensured that all my instructions were followed to the letter.

Smith AI was not our first answering…

Smith AI was not our first answering service that we employed. In fact, we were afraid to take on another answering service due to our previous experiences, but Smith AI came so highly recommended. We could not be happier! They are prompt, courteous and professional, even in the face of our stressed-out and often frustrated clients who are dealing with life-changing events!

Good Experience

They have taken such a load off of me

They have taken such a load off of me. They handle all of the calls they email and text me details for each call. And they go ahead and schedule them for what they need right through our calendly. Its such a great investment.

Buyer beware

Our experience with Smith.ai was extremely disappointing and frustrating. The first thing we encountered was issues with billing. During the sale, we were told we wouldn’t be charged for our second month until one month after going live. They did not communicate that to billing and we were charged again.

The dashboard setup was a letdown. Despite repeated requests to remove my personal cell phone number from the dashboard and assurances that it would be removed, it remained, with the excuse that it didn't matter since only we could see it. This negligence in addressing our concerns added to our growing dissatisfaction.

The HubSpot integration that was promised during sales calls turned out to be incompatible with our needs (which we had discussed during the sale). This lack of transparency about the limitations of their service was concerning.

The RingCentral setup instructions provided were inadequate (just a link to a generic RingCentral page that did not address what we were looking for), and when seeking support, we were met with unanswered emails as well as conflicting information. The support staff seemed uncoordinated, and it was incredibly frustrating to be told that Smith.ai didn't actually integrate with RingCentral, despite crystal clear marketing claims to the contrary.

Ultimately, our experience with Smith.ai fell far short of their promises and our expectations and was not at all worth $2800/month. We encountered multiple issues, including billing errors, unaddressed concerns, and misleading information about their integrations. We would have had to make too many concessions to continue with their service, and their lack of reimbursement for our poor experience only further exacerbated our disappointment.

It is shocking when their Head of Client Operations says “the service you have received is far below what we strive to provide, and that is unacceptable” and “never should a client experience what you have” yet they still felt they had delivered what was paid for and did not refund a dime beyond the mistaken second charge. They only offered a credit for the future, which after this experience, we obviously would not use since I cannot recommend them at all.

Smith.ai bills clients monthly with no annual commitment. Per our terms of service, your payment is due on the same day every month from the start of your first billing cycle. As soon as it was brought to our attention that there was miscommunication during the sales process about the start of your account, our team took immediate action to ensure that this was handled to your satisfaction. To confirm, this charge was fully refunded.

Your feedback about our call dashboard is greatly appreciated, and we have shared it with the relevant teams to improve our customers' experiences with it. We want to reiterate that your personal contact information listed on your dashboard was for internal communication only as we need to keep an alternate phone number on file to contact clients directly in case any urgent issues arise.

Our native HubSpot integration has standard, fixed features that nearly all of our clients make use of. This standard integration creates “Contacts” within our clients’ HubSpot instances, and this is well documented on our website and help docs. However, you wanted us to create “Tickets” instead of “Contacts.” This is not a trivial change, but we are capable of making this adjustment using other tools available. As that would require some customization, we offered to schedule a time to iron out all the details with our Solutions team, but you emailed us on October 11th letting us know you already had an established workflow. So, we didn’t pursue it further out of respect for your time and understanding there was no longer a need.

We do integrate with RingCentral and work with many customers who forward their calls to us. Our integration here simply means businesses can forward any call they receive in RingCentral to our receptionists to answer. However, you were asking if we’re able to log in and access your RingCentral account. We do not have this capability for liability reasons of how personal information and data are stored. We shared this with you, however there remained a discrepancy in how you wanted us to interact with your RingCentral account.

As we communicated to you multiple times, our contact email changed. You continued to send correspondence to an old, unmonitored inbox. If you email support@smith.ai, responses are typically sent within two hours.

Again, we regret the overall experience you encountered. Unfortunately, you were outside of our 14-day money-back guarantee window. This is why we offered you credit. We would love the opportunity to see this through and show you how capable we are of exceeding your expectations.

HORRIBLE!!!

HORRIBLE!!!! Probably the worst company I have ever interacted with. I'm not a scorned customer - there is no event where they rubbed me the wrong way. I've worked with them for over a year and it's been a parade of incompetence the entire time. They have wasted our ad budget, lost customers for us, and wasted hours of our time. Please do not make the mistake of selecting them, as once you do there are real switching costs. We've been so busy with our business we haven't had time to switch, but I promise you we will. Stay away!!!

Jason, we have worked tirelessly with you to make the corrections you requested to your call handling instructions, despite your continued verbal abuse and miscommunication issues.

When we have made mistakes in the past regarding instruction updates, we have done our best to offer you substantial discounts to compensate for those errors. Recently, we assigned one of our most tenured account managers to your account to help get things back on track. However, you chose to belittle our team by calling us “idiots,” and worse, including profanity.

As you know and as we’ve reminded you, we cannot make changes to your instructions without your explicit approval. As recently as October 25th, our team immediately leapt into action to implement the changes that you requested to be made after your discussion with your account manager. Unfortunately, it appears that there was information that you wanted to be updated that you did not include on the shared Google doc that we were working from, together.

Some of your most recent complaints reference terminology and instructions that you provided yourself, included in a shared instruction document you edited — in place since January 10, 2023.

And while we would have liked to continue working with you to resolve these challenges and prove our value, we ended our work engagement due to your unprofessional and derogatory comments to and about our team. We hope you find another service better suited to your style.

Continuous Billing After Cancellation

(SEE EDIT BELOW) Generally an okay company, but one star for questionable billing practices. Company continues to bill us even though our service was canceled. We were promised refunds, but this never happened. We had to dispute the charges with our credit card company and Smith.ai asked us to withdraw our dispute or they wouldn't refund us. We have called but can never reach anybody. Only generic email responses that offer no insight or solutions. Very disappointed. (EDIT 10/05/23: After leaving this review, the VP of Operations, called me to discuss. He apologized for the error, but couldn't offer a logical reason as to what happened other than it was his fault and it was missed. He admitted that refunding is an easy process and couldn't explain what happened other than it did. He stated that he couldn't refund now that the payment was in a dispute status with our bank, but did offer free months of service with his company for the inconvenience. We declined. I asked why nobody would take my calls before or respond to my messages before when I was asking about my refund and there was no reason offered. There was no action taken until after I submitted a chargeback and posted this negative review. If I had not done either of these things, nothing would have happened. He apologized, which is appreciated. But offered no explanation or assurance about what happened. ***** He asked us to remove our Trustpilot review as it was hurting the business. I advised him that I WOULD *update* the review to show that he responded, but that I would tell the truth. He offered to compensate us for the removal with free services, but we declined as we don't need them. We're glad he responded to the review, but we wish he would have responded to our request for a refund after we were incorrectly billed after cancellation instead of doing nothing.

Been through a lot of call centers and this is the one to keep

As a business we have used several call centers. After being referred to smith ai, we don’t ever have to worry about call centers failing us. We are beyond happy and have seen an increase in our show rate and appointment setting. They are quick, thorough, and responsive.

Tony Calvario is the best!

Our account manager Tony Calvario is always on top of our needs! Smith is always willing to work with us on whatever we need. If something isn't going right, they fix it. We love that they have bilingual reception and can take payments and make appointments. It's a huge help for our busy office.

Smith.ai is a 5-star company

There are several things that make Smith.ai a 5-star company. One - they do not charge for sales, robo, etc. calls, and they automatically block the caller, unless I instruct otherwise. Two - their customer service is top notch. Anytime I have had a question or concern, they get back to me immediately. Three - they let me know immediately about appointments they have scheduled. Four - My phone is always answered, so no calls are ever missed. Five - I have received compliments from clients regarding their professionalism.

Great Service

The receptionists are pleasant, follow a script but don't make it sound scripted. They make good intake decisions about whether a prospect is a good fit for our practice area. They can send scheduling links which reduces calls and work in the office while getting clients scheduled for appointments.
I have been using them for 6 months and it has really helped reduce interruptions in the office and increased client acquisition.

I really didn't have high expectations…

I really didn't have high expectations when we were looking for a new call center. I just wanted someone better than what we had… I have been blown away with the level of professionalism from Smith.AI.

Necessity for Every Solo Practitioner

I have been with Smith.ai for a few years now. They have been invaluable to my law firm, especially as a solo practitioner. No matter how large my firm grows, it will always be part of my BLF family. They provide detailed call notes, include a transcription of the call, and collect all of the information we need to nurture our leads and handle client calls. Their customer service is super fast and always on hand to help with any issues and to help you make any changes to your firm's call policies. What I love most about them is the integration with my Microsoft Teams to accept calls and with MyCase Call Logs. As a firm that prides itself on systemized processes with the help of SaaS, Smith.ai fit perfectly right into our systemized process.
