Ruined by Bots and Ignored by Support

As a translator with over 15 years of experience, I expect a professional and fair working environment. Unfortunately, Smartling’s project distribution system is completely broken and vulnerable to API abuse.

The platform is currently exploited by users running automated scripts (bots) that instantly snatch up all available translation tasks the exact second they are published. Honest linguists have absolutely zero chance to claim jobs manually.

What is worse is the total inaction from Smartling’s technical support. Despite providing them with clear logs, timestamps, and evidence of this blatant violation of their own Terms of Service, they simply close the tickets and look the other way. By refusing to implement basic anti-bot protection, Smartling compromises its own security and creates a deeply unfair environment. I strongly advise both freelancers and enterprise clients to reconsider using a platform that ignores such obvious vulnerabilities.

STAY AWAY - SCAM

I was contacted by laurapaker64@gm...
asking for an urgent translation (so well paid). Turns out "she" only has an account on Threads, communicates only via Whatsapp and Telegram...
Workd 30+hrs only to find out it was a complete scam. AVOID

One of the most annoying error messages…

One of the most annoying error messages is: "An action is in progress; please try again later". It is practically impossible to update translations in the TM - you have to do the same thing over and over and over again and are wasting precious minutes, if not hours, before a changed sentence is finally saved in the TM. This is the year 2025 - not 1995!
