IRRESPONSIBLE BANK! No professional manners! Was good in past years, now grew and opening a 2nd Business account seems impossible. One month now blowing us off with a short attitude, " It is under review". Who takes a month and gives ZERO updates. I can only think they are SO UNORGANIZED due to managements failure to replace unsuitable employees. Just waiting for FED's to take action against the bank for something or another yet to be revealed.
The first application was denied…
The first application was denied because they needed an IRS letter with my EIN. The second application was denied because it had taken too long to arrive.
Before I started the third application, I asked them if they were going to approve OPENING A BANK ACCOUNT (not a loan). They assured me they would. I submitted the information from the second application because they claimed they didn't have it. This went on for 3 months before they ultimately denied opening a business bank account. Go elsewhere! Chain yankers.

HOWEVER, UNKNOWINGLY THIS WAS LEADING ME TO A DEADLY NIGHTMARE BEHIND THIS. WHICH I HAVE FACED TODAY UPON I SPOKE TO A RUDE GUY NAMED GEORGE FROM THEIR RISK REVIEW DEPARTMENT. EVEN TODAY I REALISED, BEING A LEGIT CUSTOMER IF YOU DO NOT GIVE ANY TROUBLE TO THE BANK INEED. THE BANK WILL STARTS TO GIVE YOU A REALLY HARD SH***TT ON YOUR FACE. I WILL TELL MY WHOLE STORY IN SHORT. THE GUY NAMED GEORGE, I SPOKE WITH HIM TODAY. HE STARTED ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT MY BUISNESS AFTER 6 MONTHS SUCCESFULL COMPLETION AND PROVIDED GOOD REVEVNUE. NOW HAVING SAID SO, I WAS GETTING MY DEPOSITS FROM MY CREDIT CARD PROCESSING MERCHANT COMPANY ALMOST EVERY OTHER DAY . SO ON, MY BUSINESS HAS EXPENSES TOO. SO MOSTLY NEW BUSINESSES DOES BUSINESS WITH ONE OR TWO VENDORS. I WAS DOING BUSINESS WITH ONE SPECIFIC COMPANY AND A VENDOR WHAT EVER. I WAS PAYING THEM EVERY MONTH ON TIME AS TRANSFER FUNDS FROM THIS BANK. THIS TIME WHEN THIS BANK SAW HUGE DEPOSIT CAME IN FOR UPTO $22 K INTO MY ACCOUNT. THEY STOPPED MY REGULAR MONTHLY TRANSFERS TO THAT VENDOR COMPANY AND REVERSED THE ONLINE TRASFER TWO TIMES TO MY ONE & ONLY VENDOR BASED OUT IN USA ONLY DOMESTICALLY. THEY ASKED ME GIVE THEM A CALL ON A CHAT. WHICH I DID TODAY AND THEY ASKED ME COUPLE OF QUESTIONS BASED ON MY PUBLIC RECORDS. WHICH I ANSWERED AND THEN GEORGE STARTED CONNECTING MY BUSINESS WITH MONEY LAUDERING FOR NO REASON HAD IT BEEN THERE CASH WITHDRAWLS BEEN DONE. WOULD HAVE UNDERSTOOD THAT MONEY LAUDERING IS GETTING DONE OR BUYING CRYPTO ETC ONLINE. HE ASKED THE NATURE OF MY BSUINESS , WHICH I PROVIDED. WHICH WAS NOT A SENSIBLE QUESTION AS IT WAS PROVIDED WHEN I HAVE OPENED UP MY ACCOUNT WITH THEM. THEY ALLOWED ME TO BSUINESS WITH THEM FOR UPTO 6 MONTHS. NOW TODAY THEY FROZEN MY ACCOUNT AND GEORGE HUNG UP ON ME TWO TIMES AND WAS REPEATEDLY SAYING THE ACCOUNT UNDER REVIEW. I EVEN OFFERED THEM IF YOU WANTED TO CLOSE DOWN MY ACCOUNT CLOSE IT BUT BEFORE THAT LET ME TRANSFER MY FUNDS AND OVE MY FUNDS. I HAVE HAD REFUND SCHEDULED TO MY CREDIT CARD PROCESSING MERCAHNT ACCOUNT. WHICH CAN BE TAKEN OUT TODAY OR BY MONDAY ANYTIME . NOW ACCOUNT IS FROZEN IT WILL BE REJECTED AND THE CREDIT CARD PROCESSING MERCHANT COMPANY WILL GET SUSPICIOUS ON MY ACTIVITIES WITH THEM . I DID TELL EVERYTHING TO GEORGE OVER THE PHONE BUT HE WAS LEAST INTERESTED. IT WILL NOW PUT MY BUSINESS ON STAKE.BEING A SMALL BUSINESS BUSINESS BANK THEY DON'T RESPECT SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS IN PERSON AND AS WELL AS THEIR FINANCIAL EMATIONS TOWARDS THEIR BUSINESSES. NOW THEY HELD $22K WITH THEM WITHOUT ANY PRIOR NOTICE NOR GIVEN ANY A WEEK DEADLINE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS. TOP OF THAT GIVING ME AN UNNECESSARY ARROGANCE. WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW WITH EMPTY HANDS AND EMPTY POCKETS AS THEY HAVE MADE ME TO STAND AT A BLIND SPOT . I HAVE SENT AN EMAIL TO THEIR COMPLIANCE TEAM AS well today on - COMPLIANCE@SMALLBUSINESSBANK REQUESTING TO RESUME MY ACCOUNT FOR COUPLE OF DAYS ONLY. FURTHER I WILL CLOSE MY ACCOUNT WITH THEM BY MY SELF OR THEY SHUT IT DOWN EITHER. GEORGE SAID REVIEW CAN GO UPTO 2 WEEKS WITH HELDING MY FUNDS FOR $22 K . HE FINALLY HUNG UP AGAIN. NEVER GO WITH SMALL BANKS AS THERE ARE BUNCH OF UNEXPERIENCED AND ARROGANT PEOPLE. EVEN I WAS USING THEIR ACCOUNT AS A DEPOSIT ACCOUNT THEN ALSO THEY HAD A PROBLEM WITH THAT. I WOULD STRONGLY URGE THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS BANK OR ANY OMBUDSMAN EITHER TO GET INTO THIS MATTER ON A PRIORITY BASIS AND GET ME SOME BREATH FOR THE SURVIVAL OF MY SMALL BUSINESS.
Unreliable and Unresponsive Banking Services at Small Business Bank
As a small business owner, I have encountered numerous challenges along the way. However, I never imagined that my choice of a banking partner would lead to such a disastrous outcome. Unfortunately, my experience with Small Business Bank has been nothing short of awful, with their unreliable banking services resulting in the termination of my merchant account.
The issues began when Small Business Bank unexpectedly returned my deposited funds without any prior notice or explanation. As a business owner, this sudden reduction in my account balance was deeply concerning and disruptive to my daily operations.
To add insult to injury, Small Business Bank proceeded to freeze my account, leaving me unable to access my funds or conduct essential transactions. This action, coupled with the unexplained return of my deposited funds, led my merchant account provider to flag my account for suspicious activity. Consequently, my merchant account was terminated, causing even more harm to my business.
In a desperate attempt to resolve these issues, I contacted Small Business Bank's customer support. They requested a series of documents, including a selfie, tax return documents, and other relevant information. Although I promptly provided the requested information, I have yet to receive a response from the bank. Their unresponsiveness has only added to my frustration and further delayed my ability to remedy the situation.
While I understand the importance of security and compliance for financial institutions, Small Business Bank's lack of communication and transparency in handling my case has been nothing short of disappointing. Their actions have not only inconvenienced me, but they have also resulted in significant harm to my business.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Small Business Bank as a reliable partner for small businesses. Their poor communication, unresponsiveness, and questionable account management practices have led to the termination of my merchant account, leaving me in a precarious position. Entrepreneurs and small business owners would be wise to explore alternative banking options that provide the support and stability necessary for success.

Having read all the negative reviews I want to share my own, so far VERY positive, experience. I was able to get connected to the right person in less than 3 minutes (almost unheard of in these post-Covid times!), she was able to access my long-dormant account and fix all the outdated info, then also helped me with other questions I had. So far, so very good. Fingers crossed.

This bank will steal your money and not tell you about it. They closed my account without my knowledge and took all of my funds as an dormant account fee.

Horrible and similar to northone bank. Northone have even give me an answer for my dispute and they had over a month! Sbb here been days trying get my pin is on me thing another reason they shouldn’t be operating is when you charge your card it doesn’t show until next day for example you have 1000 you bought a gum 5 dollars the active isn’t shown so if you have 20 transactions after within the day on a working day it don’t show nothing later tomorrow bam all is shown. In my case had 105.00 use my card expect to have 40 then next day it show -39. Robbers straight out and this is with no overdraft protection. Come on now a days which new bank worth no history give you overdraft protect some do as in dont pay for you but then charges fees

Horrible customer service left me without my money
Earlier this year SBB migrated to a new banking website. For weeks their system was down and I could not access my statements or the bill pay service. Then they shut off access to the mobile app and I have no way to access my funds. I am unable to log in on the new website or the new mobile app, and I can't even re-register my account. I have called customer service numerous times but no one answers the phone. Absolutely horrible customer service; borderline criminal since they have hijacked my funds and are not giving me access to my account for 4 months.

Was steered to this bank in 2014 by a private SBA loan "facilitator" that I now suspect probably was getting a commission. I have had nothing but problems with this so-called "bank" - poor overall performance doesn't even describe my experience.
I had a business loan wi th them. Through the COVID pandeminc I was the one to find out the details of SBA loan foreberance/help programs.I was th eone sending them the links to SBA.org and pointing out what programs I qualified for. Then they interpreted the directives from SBA and failed to communicate the changes to me. Never call when they sey they are going to; emails take a while to be returned, when they are. I got fed off and paid off the loan on the phone, something I didn't want to do because I would have no paper trail. Couldn't do it online as I was used to since access to my account, like that of so many others who are leaving reviews, could not and STILL cannot be accessed as of the writing of this review. Having received no communications since, I checked my account and see that the payment has not being withdrawn. Now I am tryinig to reaxch the bank and I am being sent to voicemail any time I try to reach the loan department or the bank president. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK - they underperform, you will have a hard time reaching anyone to help you past the "customer service" rep (read "switchboard operator") and you will waste precious time from your life doing heir work for them. JUST. DON'T. TRUST. YOUR. FINANCES. TO. THEM.

HORRIBLE. I can no longer access my account (since early May). I have called a dozen or more times during the past few weeks and the call is not or cannot be answered. There so called upgrade "mobile app" apparently accessible only via cell phone replaced their previous computer based interface. I DON"T use a cell phone for my banking! Now I am locked out of any access to my business accounts.

Business Owners Beware
I started a new small business from scratch, and my friend recommended SBB because their requirements were simple and I was on a small budget to get started and didn't want to get hit with fees and minimums from the larger multinational banks.
I have had an account with them for about a year or so, if memory serves.
The website can be described as nothing more than terrible. It looks and feels as though it was designed to be accessed using Netscape Navigator on Windows 98 via a dial up connection. The pages are plain, and the user interface is cumbersome, slow, and difficult to navigate.
The process to login is just ridiculous. Most banks offer multi-factor authentication, but SBB requires what feels like a 47 step process just to login. Enter your username, then select your security image, then enter your security question, then your password... I've worked in IT for 8 years and I can't imagine handing an interface like this to my end users. Oh, and if you mistype your password, you have to start all over from the beginning. Not helpful when you are short on time.
The mobile app is just as bad as the website. It is glitchy, and loves to crash when you submit images of checks for mobile check deposit. I just had a check denied because the top of the check image was cut off somehow. I've been cashing checks using mobile deposit for a year, so I know better than to let that happen. Yet somehow this check was missing half of the top of it when it was submitted. I would be quick to acknowledge my mistake if I felt I screwed it up, but I take extra care when cashing checks on mobile deposit specifically to avoid this delay.
Some of the other reviewers complained about phone support. I have called once or twice before, and I didn't have any issues. The service was reasonable and friendly. I don't think they are bad people. Perhaps they are understaffed.
Overall, logging in to check my account feels like a chore, and it is a process that really shouldn't be that complicated.
One last thing--I had a client in Italy send me a deposit for some voice over work, and I got hit with an unexpected incoming wire transfer fee. I believe it was like $30. I'm sure it is covered somewhere in the account sign up, but I guess I missed it. That was a little upsetting, considering I am the recipient of the wire, not the sender. None of my other banks do that.
If you need a bare bones, no frills bank account, SBB is fine. But if you are going to have more regular account activity, I personally don't recommend it and I'll be looking elsewhere.
UPDATE 5/7/2021:
SBB called and asked me if I'd revisit this review once I got to check out their "amazing" new system they were raving about. I never got any email or communication from SBB explaining when the new system would be fully operational. I can't even imagine what it would be like trying to operate my business with no access to my accounts for this long and things were busy. It has been several days, and I just tried to log in to check my account. The old site still says "Under Maintenance." Well, I managed to find the link to the new system, and now it wants me to re-enroll my account and re-register as if I didn't have an account with them already. Seriously? You want me to do the work for you? Well, I tried to re-register, and it said it couldn't find my account. So I just called to close out my account permanently. The representative I spoke to doesn't even work for SBB, and it is blatantly obvious that SBB has farmed out their customer service to another organization that has literally no function in their business other than to answer the phone. They could not provide any actual assistance to me other than to "leave a message for the bankers" since they were leaving for the day as I called in. This type of behavior is not indicative of an organization that aligns with my standards in business, so that was certainly helpful in making my decision. I'm supposed to expect a phone call from someone at SBB next week. We will see whether or not they follow through with that. Very disappointing.
UPDATE:
I never got a call or anything from anyone at SBB. No call back, no email, and no secure message. It is almost as if my call never happened. So I went online and into my account, I sent a "secure message" and I got no response after two business days. I followed up with yet another message. No response. Finally, I found out from someone else that you can request your account be closed via the mobile app. So I had to download and set up their mobile app just to close my account. Only then did I get an automated confirmation that my account would be closed. I just cut myself a check for the remaining balance left in the account because I knew if I waited around for SBB to ask me where I wanted the money, it would never happen.
Overall, don't waste your time. Take a look at NBKC Bank instead.

I have requested a debit card multiple times. Multiple times over the past 3 months they confirmed the debit card has been shipped out. They can't issue a tracking number but say that their processor Shazam will. I call Shazam and they claim they don't have a tracking number and to contact SmallBusinessBank. Simply passing the bucket. Find another free business account. This company SmallBusinessBank.com is a headache.
Closing my account ASAP!
The chat communication on the app continues to have errors and it takes forever to actually speak to someone during business hours. They said one day the hold was 3 days for a check to clear and now 7 days for the check to clear and it still hasn’t cleared. Can’t wait to close my account!!! I pray that this bank isn’t a scam but it sure feels like it.

Horrible. All my Bill payments come out as if I am either paying myself or my landlord. The app, which is the only way I can now pay my rent without an actual check is incompatible with a 1 year old Samsung phone. This is a terrible mess with no end in site. I hate to leave but I give it another 2 weeks to fix then I am out after 10 years, the changes are a business disaster.
