A wonderful experience! We booked a Club Twin room. My daughter loved the top bunk & the surprise of the “care package” that was waiting for us! Everything was spotless & the beds were so cozy. We will absolutely use the Caledonian Sleeper again!!

Toilet would not flush, seat was very uncomfortable. I've had more comfortable seat in the cinema
Caledonian Sleeper have since apologised which is good , I will probably use them again. It's not often complaints receive a reply let alone an apology. Thank you.

Very disappointing experience. A group of four of us had paid for the twin rooms, we learned upon arrival we weren’t allowed to leave our extremely cramped rooms in which you can’t even sit up fully and there’s no table, and only allowed to access the club car for dining from 10pm (45 mins after departure). We also weren’t allowed to use it for breakfast, our only option was to order room service. I don’t know why anyone would want to eat a full Scottish breakfast in bed and I think as we’ve paid a lot of money for a bed on the service, not opted for the cheap standard seat option, we should be entitled to use the dining area. It also doesn’t state on the website you don’t have access to the dining area. I paid £12 for waffles with fruit/chocolate only to receive one tiny little waffle, a sachet of chocolate paste and fruit. Additionally, once we had finally arrived in the dining area at 10pm, we were told to sit in a booth where a single man was sat. We were happy to sit alongside him however he was not happy to share the space with us, despite there being a few single seats available which he could have sat at. We were then subjected to abuse and he even shoved my 64 year old mother repeatedly. When we complained about this to the staff and train manager we were told they couldn’t do anything as they didn’t see it themselves. This is despicable behaviour and not what you’d expect upon a “sophisticated” service like this. A woman was assaulted and the staff couldn’t even bring themselves to a) escort the man back to his room or b) offer us anything complimentary. We were told by one member of staff he could allow us back in the dining area for breakfast, only to be told later by the same person that actually that wouldn’t be possible. Aside from that, the bed and pillows were comfy, however the journey is very rocky and loud (as expected) so not much sleep was gained. Won’t be travelling on this service again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Comfortable and clean. The best way to travel! Would have been five stars but the wifi didn’t work at all throughout the trip which meant I couldn’t access the information about the services etc available. The coffee bag was also excellent first thing in the morning.

Very friendly staff. Good food and drink on offer. Comfortable temperature in the cabin.

The service was as described and expected. And on time.
The tiny British loading gauge of course brings limitations on carriage size. Like, the corridor has to be extremely narrow for berths to be reasonably long when oriented transversally. Maybe next time sleeper rolling stock is ordered (in the 2040s or so...) some new approach could be tried, with longitudinal berths?
One thing I didn't like was the strong smell of class society: Only passengers in the "club" rooms (with en-suite) were allowed into the dining car at departure. (Those were sold out when I booked the trip.) I was a bit disappointed and did then not visit it later when I would have been allowed in either.

I had a query with my booking. I used the live chat feature on the website and was put through to Garry, who sorted the problem very quickly and arranged a refund for me with no questions asked. Done and dusted in about 3 minutes. This is excellent service.

The staff was very nice. Once you get used to the move of the trains, it is quite ok to sleep. You habe to keep in mind that it is quite loud but there are earplugs. It was a nice experience and I would do it again.

It was very well organized and we found our room quick. It was tough, that the water in the room didn't work. Luckily the toilet in our wagon worked, but a lot of them didn't. The restaurant was very nice, but a guest was so drunk that he pissed into his pants while sitting there and shouting around - we would have whished, that the staff would have sent him to his room before he got this drunk.

We were so so excited for our trip to Inverness in February half term, which we booked just so we could have the experience of traveling up on the Caledonian sleeper! Travelling overnight, by train, completely blew my 7 year olds mind!!! Unfortunately, the cabins were out of our price range so we slept in the peasants seats, which although uncomfortable, wasn't a horrendous experience, and with our Railcard were really reasonably priced. The seats could be made more comfortable to sleep in by removing the window side arm rest. On boarding in Euston and Inverness, the 7 year old was gifted a Caledonian Sleeper soft toy, so he now has 2 he sleeps with each night! He's lovingly called them Cally and Dania.
Waking up in the mountains made limited sleep, next to my 7 year old octopus, worth it. The coffee was great and the only way I want to wake up now, every day. We travelled in Feb so it was all crisp and snowy. Just what my soul needed!
On the way back, our toilets were out of order, which, I'm sure you can imagine was not a great experience with a 7 year old! And because it was Feb, it was dark and I couldn't see the mountains. So naturally, I was a little bit stroppy inside! Luckily, the train crew were all friendly and helpful. They delivered me a glass of wine to my seat, which I absolutely earned, and I quickly got over the darkness obstructing the Highlands!
Overall, we had an absolutely wicked adventure, which is thanks to travelling overnight on the sleeper! I just wish the cabins were more affordable and the toilet was working ("and less freaky" says the 7 year old!)
Will definitely travel again!

Travelled in a coach seat. Ticket was good value for money, especially with my railcard. Coach was clean and staff customer service excellent. My only quibbles were:
I don't believe the seats actually recline, rather instead the seat base slides forward a few inches, so bring a travel pillow.
The at table full Scottish breakfast was not up to standard, especially for the price.

Lovely staff, great food, good drinks selection and an excellent cabin, comfortable and clean.

Thanks for the great service and staff. The only down point is that the toilet was blocked.

Cabin too small, 2 small bags and one person - no way could I have fit another person + bags, fixed ladder very awkward to get in bottom bunk, awkward to just sit down. Be very narrow had it not been for the ladder holding me in I’m sure I would’ve fallen out. To that end would never risk the top bunk as no ladder to hold you in up there. I had a cabin next to the toilet!! Could hear every single movement in there!!! I have travelled in the seat before - it seemed much noisier in cabin train/track/bumps etc….

I ran into a difficult situation the day before my trip and could not make it to Glasgow on-time, therefore, missing the train. Upon finding out, I asked Caledonian Sleeper to refund me at least a portion of my trip and was denied any bit of a refund. It's disappointing considering I was very much looking forward to the travel and was hoping to use the service again in the near future. I don't know if I'll feel the same about doing so again.

Perfect way to travel to the Highlands. Waking up on the edge of the Cairngorms is truly magical. The classic cabin was ideal and the bed super comfy. Enjoying a scottish breakfast capped off a perfect trip.

Amazing first time on the sleeper! We travelled as a family and it was great fun. Loved the little touches such as soap and sleep mask and even more the little teddies gifted to our girls. Kids slept throuhg the night, adults didn't but still loved the experince as it felt like a proper adventure!!
