  1. Ski Shop

Written by the company

Our motto of “Gear for Skiers by Skiers” is about as real as it gets. We’re not some city shop that’s nowhere near a mountain; we live and play in the heart of the Green Mountains in Stowe, Vermont. We have access to the best terrain and snow on the east coast, and we take full advantage of it. We actually get on the skis we sell to ensure that you find the proper setup for you. Based in Stowe, Vermont, SkiEssentials.com has come a long way over the years. Starting out 30 years ago as Bedside Tuners, a small tune shop in Stowe, the company grew to become what are now Pinnacle Ski and Sports and Inner Bootworks. The online business was a logical next step, and we made our first online sale in the basement office of our brick and mortar store in October of 2004, and we haven’t looked back since.

Return policy is a joke!!

Ordered some Salomon skins from ski essentials based on the their recommendations of length, based on my weight. According to their website, the ideal length was 198 or even 206 cms. I ordered 198 cms. However the skis are much too long for me, at the factory setting there is no kick at all, even on the flat. I adjusted the bindings and got some kick but still not enough to get uphill. The return policy they have is a joke, they won't take anything back that's been used, but needless to say it's impossible to know if skis work for you without using them-the customer service rep I spoke to all but admitted this, so I'm stuck with a pair of skis that don't work well for me, and it was based on their recommendations. Also buyer beware, the nominal 30 day return policy starts on the day you place the order, not the date you receive the order, and shipping is slow, takes about 2 weeks.

Responsible and responsive. My experience is that they usually follow up within 24 hours. Recently they have been slammed with demands, but they are trying hard to keep up. Processing time could vary, due to weather patterns and storms hitting different areas in the U.S. Overall, I think they are reliable. Would recommend.

Extremely Slow Shipping Rinky Dink outfit.

Ordered a ski package on 1/23/2026. Called on 1 26/2026 and item had not shipped. Got an excuse that they were jammed up due to Christmas and New Years. I told then I needed them by 1/30/2026. They said they would try and get back to me. They never called or emailed me back. I called on 1/30/2026 and cancelled. Very dissapointed in the service and would recommend NOT ordering from them unless you want to wait a month of Sundays.

This is a SKI ESSENTIALS CUSTOMER…

This is a SKI ESSENTIALS CUSTOMER SERVICE review, not a product review. Seller sent incorrect product of significantly lower value. Sellers response was, apologies for the error, return product (will refund purchase once they receive) and repurchase item (now I have two product charges on my account & have to wait for them to give me original refund for incorrect item THEY sent). No offer for expedited shipping or discount for time required for me to print new label, repackage and drive to UPS (not close by). Nothing to recognize their error & my inconvenience. Was hoping to have warm toes for ski trip, now I just have a large credit card bill, no product, and lots of frustration. Ordered through Amazon but fulfilled and spoke directly to Ski Essentials.

This was the single worst online…

This was the single worst online shopping experience of my life. I saw all of the commercials, you tube videos and got lots of emails so I assumed they were on top of their game. I tried to order 3 sets of skis for Christmas presents as we were going on a ski vacation on the December 27th. Luckily they did not have one of the skis in stock so I ordered from Al's ski barn on December 2nd and received my skis with mounted bindings on December 8th after a few emails back and forth. their communication was phenomenal.

I placed the order from Ski Essentials on December 1st and after I received my other set of skis from Al's I reached out to Ski Essentials a few days later when they had not yet arrived. This is where the frustration really set in. One thing that I do not like is a lack of communication or responses to chats or emails. Forget about getting a hold of them by phone. I must have spent 6 hours of my time trying to get answers to no avail. I finally got an email saying if I wanted faster shipping I could upgrade my order to 2nd day air for an additional $100. It was about 2 weeks since I placed my order and they still did not ship out...WTF. Needless to say I was not happy. You can leave a message but won't get a call back. It took a few days to finally get one person named Crystal to help. She was good and updated the shipping on what I though was both sets of skis for 2 day shipping. At this time it was now December 17th and I did get one set on 12/19 but could not get any response on the other set of skis. I finally had enough and demanded a response by 12pm on December 18th or I wanted the order canceled and refunded. I had no faith I would get the skis before Christmas so I ordered them from Backcountry. I placed the order with them at 12:10pm on 12/18 and then received a response from Ski Essentials around 12:50 saying they were sorry and they would put a rush on the order and send out immediately. I told them it was too late I already ordered another pair of skis so they did refund my money.
I got the Skis from Backcountry on 12/20. The only person that ever responded was Krystal. I think this place takes on too many orders and does not have the ability to get them out the door. If you have unlimited time and do not care about waiting more than 3 weeks this is your place. I sure hope this was just bad timing and a real limited issue.

Horrible experience

Horrible experience. Placed an order 2 weeks before Christmas (i didn't need the skis until January 5th) No expected ship/delivery date was provided.

After 10 days and not hearing from them - I tried to contact them. I called twice, emailed multiple times, waited on live chat for more than 2 hours - NOTHING.

FINALLY - someone replied (after 10 days) and nothing had been done on our order yet.

We cancelled the order and ordered from another company - but had to pay nearly $300 for 3 day shipping (or we wouldn't have had skis for our trip)

If you can't handle the business, then don't accept it.

Disappointing Experience – Unethical Pricing and Poor Customer Service

I had a very disappointing experience with this company. They list products online at lower prices to attract customers, but after payment is made, they send an email claiming that the price has increased and demand the difference. When I rightfully questioned this, they cancelled my order without my consent.

Their customer service, particularly from a representative named Eric, was unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of resolving the issue, they avoided accountability. This is not how a professional business should treat its customers.

I strongly advise against buying from them as the pricing tactics are misleading and the customer service is unacceptable.

amazing! Can’t go wrong!

Bought a set of skies from these guys a year or so ago. Surprised they only have 4 stars as their service was a solid 5 stars. Ordered skies, gave them my sole length on the boots then they put a fresh coat of wax on free of charge and threw in free shipping 900 miles away. Great service and the best prices at the time.

Bad customer service, charge shipping for returns

Ordered a pair of 2024 ski boot for my son, the pair I received was manufactured in April of 2022. If I wanted 2022, there was other cheaper options before I made the order. I called to understand the situation and was told it was a carry over boot from the 2023 season.
Since the boot will be used as hand me downs for my 3 kids, I plan to return it so I can purchase a more recently manufactured boot. I was told that I would have to pay shipping and was even asked if I called to check on it before my purchase. Basically the customer service is blaming me for not researching enough and it is my fault. I express that to the customer rep, and was told, "okay, I can offer you return label". I still have not gotten the return label yet so I might need to call back.
Skiessentials review videos online is great and made the purchase with them to give it a try. I will not buy again, I will go back toevo.com instead, they have great customer service.

I ordered a pair of ski on Ski…

I ordered a pair of ski on Ski Essential's website. Not knowing them, I had limited expectations. 24h later the ski were packed, shipped, tracking number received.
As I had possible issues with UPS, i reached SkiEssentials and their team were very responsive, providing instant response with accurate info.
Very happy with my overall experience: Good deal, great followup and support. Kudos.

5/5.

Went to my local ski shop to buy a pair. They were asking $500 for only the skis. I found the EXACT same skis along with boots and poles for $494 on ski essentials website. I asked a question through the chat feature at 9pm and received an immediate response. Free shipping only took a few days. Would recommend ski essentials to anyone

Great customer service

Great customer service, price and overall experience. Stood by their product when it would have been easy to make excuses. Bought a helmet on sale. When it arrived, the color was very different from the picture on the website -- was Barney purple and not blue. I think the issue may be with the manufacturer's stock photo and not the store. But by the time it arrived, the other colors I was considering were either no longer available in my size or no longer on sale. Called the store directly and spoke to Conner who was very responsive and helpful. Conner agreed to exchange the helmet for a color that was no longer on sale (had me buy the alternative color and agreed to refund the full price helmet when they received the sale helmet back at the store, given they were selling out) AND emailed a prepaid label for the return of the purple helmet. Can't ask for any more. Will definitely shop here again!

10/10 Experience!!!

Good pricing and fast shipping - even all the way to California. More than that, I had a fantastic experience with their customer service. They don’t seem to answer their phone, but emails received prompt and full responses. Had such a great experience, I ordered a second set of skis for my son the week after.

Amazing people and products

Amazing people: friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient. I learned a lot and really felt they had my best interest. They even talked me down from a more expensive ski because they knew what I was looking for. I will never go anywhere else to buy ski equipment other than ski essentials and Pinnacle (their B&M)
