Terrible assistance: Paid for a rent with averything cover. When I called , I had to try several times in order to have answer. Tô return the car at Zagreb, also terrible. No one informed me that... See more

Unfair and Misleading Methods by Sixt Zadar Airport
We booked a car through Miles & More (Hotels&Cars) using our miles and chose Sixt because of their reasonable prices – especially for child car seats, which were advertised at €8/day. However, when we arrived at Sixt Zadar, we were told the seats would cost €22/day. The only way to avoid this was to upgrade the car, which would include the seats “for free” – but the upgrade cost was essentially the same as the inflated seat price.
To make matters worse, they didn’t even have a suitable baby seat available. The one they gave us had loose straps and seemed too big and unsafe for our baby. When we asked for another option, we were told they didn’t have any other suitable child seats available.
The insurance offered on-site was also much more expensive than what we saw online – by 300 %. Sixt charged for a Standard Package 204 EUR for 7 days (30 EUR per day!!), choosing it only it is 14,5 per day for Full protection, standard package is usually included in the rental price . Even worth we realized that standard protection was already included in the booking through Miles & More (Hotels&Cars)
We would have gladly booked all extras in advance at the advertised prices, but because we booked through Miles & More, that wasn’t possible.
In the end, we felt misled, pressured, and stuck with unexpected costs and unsafe equipment – not the experience we expected from either Sixt or Miles & More.
All good
We rented a Renualt Captur in Zagreb for 5 days in April. The car was brand new. Had absolutely no issues with the rental and was served so well, that we asked for the name of the person taking care of our rental. Her name is Kristina and she did an amazing job. We have rented from Sixt before in other locations and had no trouble as well. If you want the best service in Zagreb, then speak to Kristina.
WARNING!!!!!!
I paid for all kinds of insurances and for prepaid fuel, still they charged me more then the information on the receipt.
Don't rent car through Sixt in Croatia, they are not serious company and they fool people.
On my receipt, the price for renting chosen car including everything was 2265,74 euro.
They did withdrawal of 2325,11 euro.
59,36 euro extra without any information!
I thought first the difference was around 15 Euro but it was more!
When I asked about change in the price, they answerer was that the price was without VAT.
But on mine recipe, you can see the price with and without VAT.
Total price is 2265,74 Euro.
No valid answers from the company.
Unfortunately i never got back my Money from Sixt Zagreb. I rented my car in Sweden, so I called Sixt Sweden. They are the same, thieves and criminals.
NOT SERIOUS COMPANY.I will never rent a car from Sixt and absolutely cannot recommend anyone to rent a car from Sixt, especially Sixt in Zagreb.
I have rented SIXT for many years....
I have rented SIXT for many years..... But never have I been scammed like this - SIXT in Split airport is a rip off !!
Do not rent from them
They push you to purchase insurance, they bring so many other hidden costs on top of that and your rental costs you double in the end.
I could have bought a second hand car for that price. And I only stayed for a week!!!!
After I paid for the rental and returned it safely they were still (!!) looking for damages and scratches looking disappointed they didn’t! Sri not trust them
very disappointed with the service
So, I paid the online price for insurance against theft and scratches, but when I picked it up they charged me almost double, saying that the car is only now insured against theft and scratches. They did not allow me to pay the deposit and the additional cost with two cards, but I had to pay with the same one, which caused me great problems due to an unforeseen expense. I will never use Sixt rentacar again nor will I recommend it
AVOID RENTING A CAR WITH THESE PEOPLE AT ALL COSTS
After travelling for the last 9 hours, I finally arrived at six to collect my car and go to my hotel. I was confronted by a young lady who was very agressive, telling me that I needed to pay 1400€ for a deposit due to the fact that I did not have insurance with SIXT, she would not except that I had already paid car insurance through the website booking.com, further more. I was informed that SIXT would retain the deposit for a minimum period of 28 days. Otherwise, I could pay a supplementary insurance to SIXT for €68 and a €200 deposit, when I return the car, SIXT would return the deposit. However, this was an outright lie. When I returned the car, the deposit was not returned. There was no refund of the deposit and I was told there would be a 28 day wait for my money. Happy Xmas.
SIXT, you have lost another customer. I am not sure how long you will be able to continue your business in this way. I hope that as more people read the comments left by angry customers. That others will avoid your company. You have lost another customer. I am not sure how long you will be able to continue to run your bussiness in this manner. I hope that as more people read the comments that are writtin by angry customers. That they will avoid your bussiness.
Nightmare
Worst experience I've ever had with a rental car company. Pushy aggressive staff demanding you take additional insurance or they will take a very large credit card deposit.
Final price was more than double what we were quoted online.
Had to wait an hour for the car during which time the type of car we were to get was changed twice.
First and last time time I will ever use Sixt.
Ripoff.
Avoid this firm and the website Easy…
Avoid this firm and the website Easy Terra. They charge an extra amount from your creditcard without your permission. Apperently I have signed for extra's which is not True. Its fraude.
They will rip you off
They will rip you off! Flew into Dubrovnik and also visted Montenegro. Told the Sixt rep we would visit Montenegro and use the Lepetane to Kamenari ferry one way. They said the charge would be 132 euros which seemed expensive. Didn't see an invoice until my return and discovered we'd been chared the maximum amount for visiting Montenego 45 euros; roadside assistamce we didn't ask for 44 euros and 44 euros to use a ferry was cost 4.5 euros and takes 10-15 minutes. Avoid.
Cancelled my reservation, the offered the same but 3x more expensive
I made a reservation for a 7 days car rent, pickup at the Rijeka citycentre. When l arrived there, the Sixt girl cancelled my booking and offered the same dates with a simmilar car (seat ibiza instead of vw polo) for 3 times the price(!) as on their website and needed a €3000,- deposit because l didn’t take the full insurance. Infront of her l made a new booking on their webside, she immediately cancelled my booking again after talking to her boss. Luckily there are cheap busses in Kroatie as alternative. Don’t play their game, walk away.
Rented a car via rentalcars +…
Rented a car via rentalcars + insurance.
When we arrived to split airport to pick up the car they managed to sell extra insurance of 30€ because ”it is a must if we were going to Brac island and the deposit of 1400€ changes to 400€ instead. They said many times that when I would bring back the car they would tank it full because they had better gas prices and it would then be taken from deposit. I brought back the car with full tank and thought they would only charge me the 30€. I rented the car for a week. After returning home the deposit had returned to my account so I thought that everything was ok but after 2 days they charged 277€. Now that I have tried to get an explination they told me the insurance was 30€ per day. It costed more than the whole car rental! I really feel like its a scam how they make people buy those extra ”litle insurance” never going to rent again from sixt!
Avoid Sixt in Zadar at all costs
Avoid Sixt in Zadar at all costs. They are scam artists, car seat for baby was inadequate, the put extra charge on my credit card without NO explanation and they are refusing to refund me. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Appalling experience at Zadar airport.
Extremely disappointed with my recent experience renting a car for 2 weeks with Sixt. I'd chosen Sixt over some slightly cheaper options because I've had positive experiences with Sixt in other countries and trusted them more than a smaller local brand, but it turns out I was wrong. Here were my issues:
1. My booking was for an estate / station wagon car and I was given a Dacia Duster. This has a significantly smaller boot than I was wanting and doesn't count as an estate car in my opinion.
2. I'd booked a full-to-full fuel policy, but was told by the agent to return the car as empty as possible since they have a "special deal" on fuel and there are no petrol stations nearby. I was immediately suspicious of this and fortunately didn't fall for this complete lie - their fuel would have been significantly more expensive.
3. Within 24 hours of picking up the car, I had a tyre pressure warning, so I had to go to a petrol station to resolve this (and discovered that one tyre was at a significantly higher pressure than the rest).
4. There was no windscreen washer fluid in the car.
5. Trying very hard to add confusion and fearmongering to upsell me to higher insurance packages. I know most rental companies have some level of this, but felt particularly rude the way it was handled.
For what it's worth, I've rented cars in 30+ countries and never really had any issues before. I've even used Sixt multiple times before in other countries and found them to be fine. But this has seriously damaged the brand in my mind and I won't be using them again.
Rented through rentalcars.com and payed…
Rented through rentalcars.com and payed full price through their website. Then payed the extra €150 to Sixt when picking up the car, so that they don't block €1400 on my card (because insurance I bought through rentalcars is appearently wortless?).
After returning the car (with a receipt that everything was OK, no damage, nothing), Sixt charged me additional €337 without any explanation. My credit card company is now on the case because getting hold of Sixt Split/Zagreb is impossible. I have no idea how they are allowed to operate. Never again!
Another bad review for SIXT Zadar Airport
Another bad review - wish I read these before I booked! No mention of additional insurance and no paperwork aside from the standard documents when collecting the car from Zadar airport. I’ve got home to discover I’ve been stung for e202 - I had to chase them for an invoice which arrived over a week after returning the car covering insurance and breakdown cover I never asked for or even discussed with staff . Reading the reviews this seems a common SIXT tactic. I’ve now got the time and pain of pursuing the funds I’ve lost. My first and last time of using SIXT - i regularly hire cars and this is the first company I’ve ever had an issue with. If zero stars was an option I’d gladly award it. AVOID!
Don’t use Sixt, worst of the bunch
Car rental companies are notoriously bad but this is the worst experience I’ve had by far. Terrible customer service at Sixt Zagreb downtown. Incredibly unfriendly and deceitful to get extra money out of us. Said we would have to pay the full cost of tyres or windscreen if there was any damage to them despite having $0 excess on the rest of the car unless we paid another $26 eur to upgrade our insurance. Then said they get better rate on fuel so let them fill it up at the end but in reality they charged us for a full tank of petrol after returning it even though we only used half, the details weren’t explained clearly and I believe in a deliberate way to deceive us.
Mario at Dubrovnik airport went above and beyond to help
Mario at Sixt Dubrovnik airport got us out of a bit of a hole, as we needed a 7 seater for the family and I had prebooked one with another rental company, but they needed a credit card payment for the deposit and I only had a debit card (my fault as I didn't read the booking confirmation very well), but they were really rude and then ramped the price up considerably to allow me to pay the deposit on my debit. I cancelled my reservation due to it, but hadn't realised how hard it would be to get a 7 seater form the other rental companies (which there were lots of). Mario at Sixt went above and beyond to help, they didn't have a 7 seater car, but he said we could have a minivan, and then he would drive to our next stop (over 1 hour away) in the 7 seater car and swap it for the van. They weren't cheap, but I didn't have many options left open to me, and they were all very polite and helpful, so I was very grateful for their flexibility.
I just have to warn and be careful
I just say, be aware and look through everything before signing the agreement, I said no insurance and still they put that on the agreement, tired family traveling just want to get away out on the road with tired eyes I missed they put that on agreement and woops they charged me 350euro.
Don't listen on what they say that you don't have to fill up the car with fuel, I filled it up because I felt this don't sound like normal, I read that people has been charged overprized fuel afterwards.
Overvejer du at leje en bil hos Sixt i Kroatien? Stop, lad være for din egen pengepungs skyld!
Hermed vores historie. I får den på engelsk, da det er samme beskd som vi har sendt til Sixt International (dog uden at få et svar endnu)
13 May 2024: We reserve a BMW Series 1 at Sixt in Zagreb over the internet including comprehensive insurance with a deductible of €1150 and with an additional driver (Document attached)
12 July 2024: When collecting the rented car, we are presented with a possible upgrade to a BMW Series 3 including driver for €20 more per day. In addition, we are asked if we want to reduce our deductible to €0, for an additional price. We decline this, as our extended private travel insurance will cover any deductible with damages. Before signing, we ask if this car upgrade is on the same agreement as originally entered into. We get the answer that it is.
20 July 2024: When handing over the rental car, a scratch is found on the front left alloy wheel. We accept the scratch and that it has appeared since we picked up the car. Shortly afterwards we receive a final statement where Sixt Zagreb has added Damage Compensation of €1310 plus VAT = €1637.50
We are of course very confused that this damage is not covered by comprehensive insurance, so we call the rental office. These state that the insurance does not cover metal parts such as tires and windscreens. We were never made aware of this. Neither when ordering nor when collecting, so we ask them to change the invoice so that damage is covered by the insurance taken out, and with an excess of €1150. The office refuses to change this, but asks us to write to the Sixt Customer Service in Croatia.
The same day we write an email to Sixt Customer Service, which maintains the claim for the €1637.50. We also send copies of our original agreement, but they still refuse to change the charge. This correspondence lasts over many days during our holiday, which naturally takes quite a lot of our time and attention to the matter. We also ask for an estimate of the damage, as we thought the amount sounded improbably high.
23 July 2024: As we do not feel in any way that Customer Service in Croatia is responsive to our arguments, we choose to call Sixt in Denmark and tell them about our situation. Alex at Sixt Denmark can easily understand our arguments, so he sends a friendly email to his colleagues in Zagreb to accommodate our request to change the charge to just the deductible of €1150. Despite this, Sixt in Zagreb and Customer Service in Croatia maintain their original demands.
The link for payment of the remaining requested €622 is here open until 27 July 2024.
1 August 2024: We have heard nothing from Sixt in Croatia, so we are contacting Sixt Denmark again. This time we talk to Victor, who also fully understands our desire for changed requirements, as he is presented with our experiences. Victor sends another email to Sixt in Croatia with a desire to change the price requirement. This time, too, it is flatly rejected.
August 2, 2024: We choose to capitulate. Our belief that we had made the right choice by choosing one of the big car rental companies has suffered a crack. We choose to pay the claim, and send an email to the Customer Service in Croatia asking them to reopen the possibility of paying the €622 (the remaining amount of the total claim of €2259.66, as mentioned earlier, has already been deducted from our account)
On the same day, we receive a link for payment of €40 and an attachment that looks like an overview of the damage to the alloy wheel. However, this document is in Croatian, which we do not understand. We choose to pay the €€40, as we believe this is part of the €622, and ask for a document in English.
6 August 2024: We receive an email from Customer Service claiming that the attached document regarding the damage is recognized worldwide, but that we can get it in German if we wish. We are not very good at German, but must accept the document in this language.
In addition, CS writes that it costs €40 to get a document about the damage in accordance with their terms and conditions. Terms that we were never presented with or notified about when we asked for the documentation.
7 August 2024: We receive a link to a new charge of €622. We choose to pay this, even if we do not accept this, as well as the suddenly added €40
In total, we have paid €2299.66 for the rental of this car, as well as the damage, which we believe has been covered by comprehensive insurance with a maximum deductible of €1150
