We have tried without any success to contact the company. They have increased the bill over the years without notification and never responded to emails. We are now trying to move provider and they will not respond to either phone calls or emails. Yesterday we hung on the line for 48 minutes and still no answer, the same this morning.
We made a payment to top up our Sipgate account, but it’s been three days and the amount is still not visible in our account. Despite contacting their support multiple times, we’ve received no proper response or resolution.
It’s really disappointing how they are holding the payment and not updating the balance. This is not acceptable
Poor service and definitely not recommended.

Really gone downhill.
Their prices are insanely high and their service is terrible. Basically unable to contact support and their web portal is useless.
They terminated my account without notice. And claimed it wasn't used.
This is the downfall of sipgate
As other users have stated, my account was terminated and they kept my balance without contacting me.
Be very careful of using and trusting Sipgate as your provider. When something goes seriously wrong, as it has done for me, Sipgate may not provide a basic customer service solution. Sipgate terminated my Basic account for no reason and without notice (although the contract states notice must be given). I lost access to my number and to my account and Sipgate, which has been unable to provide any explanation as to why my account was terminated (they don't know!), has simply stated that it cannot reactivate my account - again with no explanation and no escalation process - and suggested that I find a new provider. I've lost my Sipgate registered number and there's nothing I can do.
I've been with Sipgate for many years, initially toying with VOIP in 2006, using them seriously for a second line from around 2020 and then porting my number to them in 2023.
I use Sipgate with a Gigaset N300 DECT VOIP box that connects to my Wifi and then connects to handsets via DECT. It works perfectly. Sipgate had good instructions for a similar Gigaset device for how to set it up for their service. (Help Center -> First Steps (Configuration Guides heading) -> How do I configure my devices for use with sipgate?)
The thing to know when porting a UK domestic number into Sipgate is that it will end the Internet contract that the number is attached to (not Sipgate's fault, just the silly way it works). Thus I waited until I was moving ISP, and used the transfer to end the contract. The transfer went perfectly.
Cost is low, quality is excellent. I'm a happy Sipgate customer.
I use an old Sipgate Basic account, which isn't offered any more but which is very cost effective. I think it's a shame that Sipgate don't offer a domestic service for new customers anymore but I can quite see that it could be difficult to support non-tech home users in getting this kind of thing up and running.

My account was accidentally deleted as inactive (I had been waiting a considerable period for Fibre To The Home to be installed by BT Openreach).
Sipgate acknowledged that a advisory email should have been sent prior to the deletion and were able to recover my number.
My VOIP is now working perfectly, thanks to excellent help from Rob Waite in the Customer Support Centre. He is a credit to Sipgate.

Been a customer for almost 2 decades and can't fault them. Very happy with the service over the years. Just wanted to say thankyou and give you credit for the service provided.
Poor. Service is good when it works, but for the last 6 months support is astonishingly poor. No one answers phones and takes a month for an email reply, which tells us to call them on a number that says they are busy!
Been a very happy customer for a while now with two Sipgate Basic lines to solve a very basic need. The recent demise of Basic and replacement with Teams Starter, and the merging of my accounts has broken the functionality. Emails to support go unanswered, and no one is picking up the phone. Just a recorded message saying "sorry, we cant take your call".
For a paid service, albeit a cheap one, this is poor.
EDIT: A further email has been responded to, but the inability to call a telephone provider does remain poor.
I've been with Sipgate for about 9 months now and I've found the service to be excellent. It works well with my new Gigaset phones, which I purchased especially to use with the Sipgate VOIP service. I really like the fact that you don't have to pay a monthly charge, but there are add-on packages if you make a lot of calls and want to pay a fixed rate rather the PAYG. The only problem I have had with my VOIP service is that sometimes if I have to reboot my ASUS RT-AX88U router, the Gigaset base station fails to reconnect to the Sipgate service. On those occasions, simply turning off the Gigaset base station for a few seconds usually restores the connection (sometimes, I have to repeat the process if it fails on the first attempt). Once the connection has been established, the service is reliable and good quality. The price for making calls has increased recently, but it still represents good value and I highly recommend Sipgate, especially for people like me who don't make lots of calls as there is no monthly fee, unlike with many other providers. I have standby power to my router, the Gigaset base station and the FTTP Optical Network Terminal aka ONT, so even if the power is interrupted for an hour or more, my phones should still be able to make and receive calls. One last thing, I didn't bother to keep my old landline number, but chose a new local number that was available when I signed up with Sipgate.
Avoid... no support at all, they do not reply to emails or phones. After i ported our numbers to a different company, they charged our card by £484.
They are serious con artists.
Good Quality Line & Easy to set up.
I recently moved over to full fibre broadband at home and as a consequence would no longer have access to my old analogue landline.
I had researched the possibility of using VOIP and Sipgate, of all the VOIP companies I looked at, offered the most straightforward package for a domestic home user, particularly in terms of cost and with using my existing analogue handsets.
All I needed was to buy an ATA (Analogue Telephone Adapter) which I acquired from Grandstream and a free user account with Sipgate. The ATA is connected to both your Router and your telephone and Sipgate provide the telephony service in place of BT or Sky etc.
Sipgate provided me with a local landline number (I could've kept my old one but decided not to) and a user account and once I had installed the Grandstream ATA, which in itself was straight forward, my new VOIP landline was up and running.
With full fibre broadband, the quality of my calls via Sipgate are 100 times better than what we use to get via the BT line and with the Sipgate user interface, it is possible to do so much more.
We use it mainly for incoming calls and provided you get regular incoming calls every month, your landline number won't be discontinued.
We have the basic Sipgate package which means all incoming calls are free and we 'pay as we use', should we make outgoing calls. This enables us to keep our costs down to a minimum.
We've said goodbye to monthly payments which are more costly for us.
I thoroughly recommend Sipgate. Good friendly and efficient service. Furthermore, we've been using Sipgate since the beginning of July 2022 and it's 'just there' and works. No problems to date...
Amazing service at compectative pricing but where is customer serivce / support? I've had an issue with one of my services and called constantly for 2 weeks every signle day at least 3 times but nothing. Tried 3 tickets but only "recived" the 4th one. Shame
The automated sign up process works, to a degree, but if you need any form of help you can forget it. The phone is never, ever answered, none of the email addresses are replied to, and likewise no response to admissions via the contact form. The silence is absolutely deafening.
Edited down to 2 stars after Sipgate stopped Starter accounts for new customers and effectively put us in Limbo:
Sipgate have never been good at answering their own phone but previously they did eventually respond to emails after a few days which was OK considering the cost.
In September 2022 Sipgate stopped selling Sipgate Starter to new customers and it was muted that they would put existing Sipgate Starter users onto a Sipgate Business Basic Account in 2023 at an additional cost of around £10.50 per month and nothing to show for the extra £10.50 fee.
Up to now we have not been notified about any of this so I emailed Sipgate for info. - No reply to my email after 2 weeks.
I checked what would happen to funds in the account if I cancelled and I discovered that they would charge up to £6.00 to return any funds and had lots of hoops to jump through.
I had set up automatic funding for the account and Sipgate had recently modified their system so that automatic funding can only be removed by them once it was set up but I did manage to contact them about that and have it removed. - This change was Really Whiffy.
Sipgate was my only VOIP phone but in response to all this I have now openned an account with Voipify who do answer emails and who answer the phone.
If Sipgate try to move my existing Sipgate Starter account from a none fee Sipgate Starter Account to Sipgate Business Account I will cancel my account with them.
If Sipgate keep existing Sipgate Starter Customers as they are I will probably stay but it is now demoted to a second account and I will drastically reduce the use of the Sipgate Starter Account if it stays in existence.
Sipgate advertise a phone number for customer service but I have tried all day and nothing but an automated message to say they are too busy to take my call!
