Helpful staff and great overall renting experience. What we did not like was the milage of the car, over 80000 km, although the interior was in good conditions.

All over a good service, booking, collecting and returning af the car.

Professional pleasant staff helping us in perfect English. Suggested a change from the car we’d booked to a newer vehicle that she recommended was good to drive. No hard sell when we said we had our own excess insurance.
Car was excellent and drop off very quick and easy.

Quick check in and checkout. I appreciated all documents upon checkin and checkout were sent immediately. That gave me an understanding there are no issues or something i should pay attention to. I received a new vehicle and was exactly what I requested. Very pleased with that. The self checkin system did not work but someone came shortly after we called.

The ease of collection and more particularly, the ease of the drop off when we were slightly pushed for time. The staff were friendly and helpful and pointed out the small scuffs, etc. that were present when we took the car, suggesting we take photos to avoid any issues on the return of the car - which there weren't. The car was precisely the model we wanted - so often it's not which can lead to unnecessary problems about size, luggage space, etc. The booking process was also straightforward - it's the third time we've used Sicily by Car in fact and have never been disappointed.

All great and easy

We drove during 800 km all over West Sicily. Bad and even awful roads throw the mountains in the centre of Sicily (Agrigento-Piazza Armerinan-Gangi, Cefalù).
We chose the right car for that : not too large for little streets, enough powerful to drive in mountains.
The staff was fair, competent.
A real problem : it's impossible to read and understand all conditions of booking (too much pages) in so less time. So we have to be confident in your loyalty.

Great service and the rental office in terminal 1 Malpensa AirPort, Aryana was the agent, she was fast to process everything, very helpful and explained everything with a smile. Definitely going to rent again from the same company. Such service is always a bonus point.

Very clear process and instruction on arrival, easy hand back of vehicle at the end of the rental.

The reservation went well, the man at the office in Bologna was kind and correct.
One remark: the drop-off at the airport of Bologna is difficult to find, I think for every one who brings back a rental car for any rental firm.

I booked a prepaid week with Sicily by Car via Booking.com for pickup at Catania airport. On the scheduled pickup day the airport was closed and under red alert because of Mount Etna.

I contacted both Booking.com and Sicily by Car well before the pickup time and also tried calling Sicily by Car that morning. No one answered. The first reply came more than 10 hours later — after the scheduled pickup window had already passed because of the airport closure.

They then refused both a one-day pickup extension and any refund of the prepaid week.
A prepaid booking is of little use if the supplier cannot be reached until after the no-show window has closed, and there was no flexibility for a documented force-majeure event (airport closure / volcanic activity). Opening at 8am is not helpful if emails and calls are not answered until after 7pm.

I would have expected either a short pickup extension or a partial/full refund given the circumstances. I hope Sicily by Car and Booking.com will review this and offer a fair resolution.

Very disappointing experience with Sicily by Car. When I collected the vehicle, I was told that I had to purchase an additional insurance policy costing £209 to be allowed to take the car.

I explained that I had already purchased full insurance through Booking.com, but I was told this was not sufficient and that the local insurance was compulsory—not optional. I therefore felt I had no choice but to pay.

I have since been informed that this additional insurance should have been optional. Had this been explained honestly at the desk, I would not have purchased duplicate cover.

I have contacted Sicily by Car for clarification and a refund, but the matter remains unresolved. Customers should be given clear and accurate information and should never feel pressured into buying unnecessary insurance. Based on my experience, I would not use this company again.

I was physically attacked by their roadside assistance agent. They attempted to defraud me of €3000. Worst experience ever.

Very easy return. At the airport in Naples we had a problem with our original car because we had no physical card on us. Sicily car helped us out in the most uncomplicated and easy manner.
