I had a very positive experience with Shurgard Camberley, especially thanks to Richard. He was extremely friendly, professional, and truly prioritised customer care and long-term relationships between the company and its customers. Richard clearly thinks about both the customer’s needs and the company’s values, which makes him a great manager and an excellent decision-maker. He kindly helped resolve my issue regarding the subscription cost for a service I did not use, and I really appreciated his understanding and support. Excellent customer service — highly recommended.
Initially great impression with Shurgard in how easy it was to set up my account and the hand holding process etc.
Got to the site and there were no trollies to move any of my large pieces of furniture, meaning that I had to do this all by hand.
When I vacated my unit and gave them notice, they terminated my contract with written confirmation and still continued to charge my direct debit and are claiming this is hidden in T&Cs.
I contacted them about this predatory charging as they have taken money out of my account after confirming to me that the contract was now terminated, and I have handed my keys over. Awful customer service that didn't offer to help and simply told me that there was nothing that they could do, and nobody to redirect me to.
It seems like this must be a common thing with this company, but I am furious that I have fallen victim to their deceptive practices, and cannot believe that I am expected to pay for a unit which I cannot even access to knowingly sit empty for over a month.
Absolutely disgusted in Shurgard's business practices, refusing to discuss this clear breach of my consumer rights and burying hidden charges in their T&Cs to sting you later on when you no longer need their service.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Even easier to set up a storage account now on-line and entry access is more secure on a app , they even give you a phone call to welcome you and guide you through

The units & the general cleanliness of the whole area was good to see too
The only downside would be lack of actual ppl to speak with at the location as it appears to be a remote store, although anyone I've had to speak to have made everything clear & understandable
The security at Shurgard is very good, I found the whole initial experience not good. I don’t like technology at the best of times and having to read a load of instructions on your phone makes it worse. I miss heard the advisor on the phone when he said which floor my container was on, so took ten minutes trying to get the lift to work. The lift doors kept shutting when I was trying to get the trolley out. So overall not a good experience for me.
the storage is very secure. outsiders cannot get in. big enough space.
Quick and easy booking and check-in. Also I love the mobile app gate/lift key - very convenient!
Great customer service as first unit just about combated the size of my head lol.
But the team was very helpful with my upgrade.

Customer Service is excellent and booking process was pretty straightforward - most difficult thing was proof of identity but its good to know that it's being taken seriously.

Richard was exceptional in the whole process and sorted everything out. Other staff members over the phone were not so great which is why I'm highlighting Richard really helped to better our experience. Knowledgeable, friendly and understanding! Great manager!
Apart from being unable to enter the premises because I had not downloaded the App, everything was perfdct
It was easy to rent a space, we did it online while the office was closed, and the facility seems good, even if the trolleys are a little old and very heavy, but their marketing really needs looking at, on the website and signage on site, it says you can move in for a £1. Unfortunately you absolutely cannot, its £18 for compulsory insurance unless you can prove you have your own (you get refunded after you have paid if you can prove to the manager you have it next time they are open) and there is also a charge for a lock, so it's more like you can move in for £40, then its £40 rental per month plus insurance so £60 a month for renting, oh and be careful of the small print a value locker may be an unusual shape with maybe a roof beam or two running through it like ours making it impossible to stack boxes high like they suggest to make the best use of the space. They would probably have scored better if they were honest up front about all the charges and it had been clear about different types of locker, and their prices. It leaves you feeling a little disappointed to be honest, they could do better.

So far we had a great experience.
The only downside is that our unit has 2 doors and we can only use one. It would be much easier to access our belongs if the other door was accessible.
