Bought an SM57 bulletproof built like a tank mic
Bought an SM57 mic billed (on their sales page on Amazon) as Bullet proof and built like a tank. Had it for a few weeks and one day I was using it to record accoustic guitar through my focusrite 2i2. The mic stand I bought wouldn't hold it so I had to rest it on a table pointing at my guitar, it was about 3 ft around waist height (One of those tables we used to put our Telly on). anyway the worst happened and it rolled dropped onto my living room floor (carpeted). About an hour later it suddenly lost volume and sound quality. Anyway I contacted them thinking I would get it repaired but they refused to repair it but offered to sell me another one. So apparently this bullet proof built like a tank mic. is not covered by warranty if you drop it. This mic they say you can gig with can't cope with a 3 ft. drop onto carpet.
This mic cost me over £100 and I've ended up with a cheap mic from Behringer of much inferior sound quality (because after that it was all I could afford). They tried to claim they offered me a replacement but what they don't say is they wanted me to pay for it. I wouldn't advise anyone to buy anything from this company. When I first contacted them they told me to send it back to them but they neglected to tell me they don't repair them. So they wanted me to waste a day sitting waiting for the courier to pick it up for their own benefit with no intention to repair it which of course they didn't bother to tell me. Only when I asked them about cost did they mention the no repair thing. I found them to be shall I say, not straightforward to deal with. A really terrible experience and over £100 Which I can ill afford) out of pocket. It's made me so angry being taken in by the advertising I'm retired and money for this sort of thing has to be saved up and then it's all gone in a moment.
