Shula Rich pioneered Leasehold Management education for the National Federation of Property Professionals. She writes and presents courses nationwide on a regular basis. She presently advises Leaseholders and Managing Agents on Right to Manage and Block Management issues. She drafted the National Contract for Block Management for ARLA, and has been thanked in Parliament for reforms to Leasehold Law. Despite the fact that she has in her own words ‘bought the tee shirt’ she has worked on a voluntary basis for more than twenty years advising leaseholders with block management issues, as well as professionally with managing agents. Shula has a strong academic background as well as having been involved with the drafting of leasehold law since 1996, and an appreciation of both sides of leasehold management.

The love, care and passion Shula delivers in her service is a ray of light in the otherwise complex, shady and cowboy area of leasehold where everyday people are trod on, excessively overcharged and treated like dirt by faceless management companies. Shula's fees are criminally cheap for the exceptional service she provides. I couldn't recommend her high enough.

Shula's long experience and deep knowledge has helped us enormously in dealing with complex and highly contentious issues concerning the management of our block. She's basically helped us out of a hole, which will end up saving us a lot of money and grief. We're very very grateful!

I have been fortunate enough to have discovered Shula and her Brighton Hove and District Leaseholders Association many years ago. Shula has undoubtedly saved me hundreds, if not thousands of pounds over years. She has gone way above and beyond anything I could ever have hoped for my £25 subscription a year, and I've been fortunate enough to have also received pro bono forensic accounting and legal advice from her colleagues and contacts. I am delighted that I have just signed our residents association up to be able to call on Shula's encyclopedic knowledge of all things leasehold- we are going to need a lot of advice, and I couldn't feel in safer hands.
I can't recommend Shula and her organisation enough and honestly don't know where I'd be now without her.

I came to Shula after recommendations from the Platform 9 community at a much difficult time. I needed someone to read my tenancy and advise living with a person with mental health problems and aggression. Shula listened at my case with a keen ear and considered options with care and knowledge for free. I can't appreciate her generosity enough and wouldn't hesitate to seek her advise again in the future!

Shula gave me detailed and highly valuable advice about how to proceed with a Section 20 process (under a RTM structure). Shula is very knowledgeable about the space but explains concepts in simple and relatable language. @Shula thanks for all your help.

Shula helped us with getting Right to Manage for our five storey building, which has 36 flats. She made the process transparent, easy to understand and was always available to help and explain how to proceed. It all went smoothly and we are so grateful for her expertise and support. We could not have done this without her, and she went above and beyond the call of duty to help us. Can't recommend her enough. She's worth every penny. Thank you, Shula!

Shula advised me as a leaseholder running a joint freehold. She was so straight forward and understanding and gave the most accurate advise. I wish I had known of her and been in touch years ago she would have saved me many sleepless nights and not to mention money. This was all done for free on her drop in session. I can't recommend her more highly. She truly wants to help. A solicitor with a expert knowledge in her field but more importantly a human touch that speaks lay person.

I have used Shula for advice over the last few years and always found her knowledge to be very helpful and given in an easy to understand and confident way. Providing enough information to allow me to make decisions when needed. Thanks for providing such an excellent and a well needed service.

I have had to ask for Shula’s advice on several occasions. She explains everything simply, nothing is too much trouble for her and she genuinely cares about the outcome. She is absolutely super, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful and……. very much appreciated! In a class of her own!!

Many people are unaware that at the present time, an individual who has no legal training or qualifications may set up a company or business offering to sell legal advice and documents to the general public on a wide range of legal matters and without being subject to any sort of regulation or standards monitoring or financial control. This is exactly what Shula does: without any kind of legal training she is giving out legal advice. Risky. Potentially dangerous. Not recommended.

I received excellent advice from Shula!
She offered alternative options that other experts hadn't mentioned.
Cheers

This to express our gratitude for your patience, professional approach and perseverance during our contact with you to use your help. As a group of owners I believe we feel in a better place, with an appointed leasehold block manager in whom we all have confidence, based on previous experience of her expertise as a local letting agent.
We have really valued your support and accessibility during the RTM process, and wish you well in your work in the future. (January 2020)

As a Managing Agent, I had met Shula on some invaluable block management training courses. I subsequently recommended her to some clients looking to gain RTM. This is not a process to be attempted by anyone with less than excellent knowledge of process / law. Shula provided an excellent service leaving my clients extremely satisfied with their RTM outcome! She will happily have an informal chat in the first instance. Excellent value for money!!

RTM usually is referred to as "the law" and, as such, seems to be perceived as immune to any quirks of application as "the law" runs on straight rails! Unfortunately, for a lot of applicants it does not and is by contrast, sincerely vulnerable to the merest points of legal order and easily thrown out as an application because of various nefarious reasons. Landlords know this and can easily put this to good use through expensive lawyers and will use these expensive lawyers at will, because exploitative contracts are precious.
We had a secret weapon in Shula Rich of Lease Advice UK. Shula knows the leasehold business, the RTM business and the commerce business inside out and - somewhat to our amazement - got one of the most notorious landlords to capitulate at the first instance. We simply could not believe it and we are looking forward to a bright new start as masters of our own destiny. We can't wait, and it's all thanks to this very giving, ultra-committed, charitable and dedicated lady and her company. The world needs more of this kind of service. Don't be tempted to do RTM on the cheap. Use this company and the great Shula Rich. It was worth every penny!

In July 2018 we won a legal case history for our Right to Manage thanks to Shula Rich. Shula has continued to provide invaluable advice & total support to help us through all the initial teething stages, and is still in regular contact to provide us with her valuable insight.

I called in to one of Shula Rich's 'Drop In' sessions when the leaseholders company of my small block of flats was wanting to dismiss our agent. Shula gave of her time generously drawing on her enormous experience of legislation and we now have a new agent and company secretary. Shula's advice has been invaluable and I have been happy to recommend her to others all who have been delighted.

Superb advice, join the leaseholders association for a few pounds to help the work. Sheila is an authority on leases. She has also advised parliamentary bodies and the media.

Shula gives excellent advice and does genuinely care about the outcome. I have been to see her a number of times and each time get something useful to move forwards with in our large and bewildering challenge against extortionate council major works charges. I just wish she was available for hire as often the drop in sessions aren't long enough! But they are still absolutely super and incredibly helpful and very much appreciated!

Excellent advice given when my solicitor was too stubborn to see that the way he wanted to deal with a simple lease extension was way too complicated and unnecessary.
Have fired my solicitor on the day that I spoke to Shula.
Thank you again for a good and free advice!
