We found the shop very easily and it was like walking into a sweetie shop. There were so many beautiful coats in so many colours we didn’t know where to start. We were looked after really well and helped to make the right decision.
My outfit arrived on time and is perfect.
As Mother of the Groom, I knew my outfit had to be special. At Shibumi Sophie introduced me to dresses and jackets. I chose the style for each, but it was choosing from the beautiful silk fabrics that made me confident. I loved my outfit and it was greatly admired. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Thank you Shibumi.
I was going to give 4/5 as a delay in delivery did cause some stress, on reflection it is a little unfair as the circumstance were out of Shibumi control at the time of delivery.
However, I have purchased over a period three coats from their range each one stunning, tailoring is exquisite and when you wear these items they make you feel really special. Each time I have worn one of these coats I have had so many compliments and comments about the look, the originality and the design so if fact you do deserve 5/5.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Shibumi, the quality, design and style are truly unique and Ruth and Sophie certainly have an eye for what suits you. I know where I'm going for my next big event...
The outfit I ordered was a Lyra coat in Moon and a Monroe dress in Moon dust for my son's up coming wedding.
The whole ordering experience was simple and straight forward.
The quality of the silk and the finish of the garment was of an exceptionally high standard. I have lived in the middle East for several years and have had garments custom made in silk and this outfit made by Shibumi is of the same high standard
I simple terms it is absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to wear it. I would also like thank them for making me a clutch bag to match the coat. How's that for customer service . Above and beyond .
I found Shibumi via Pinterest whilst looking for something different to wear as Mother of the Bride and especially as I would be walking her down the aisle. I got exactly what I wanted, a classic, elegant outfit which brought many compliments my way on the day. The staff were helpful, the only problem was too much choice! I will be back. My coat had to be returned initially as the arms were too neat but that was dealt with efficiently and was no problem at all. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to shine on a special day. Thanks Shibumi.
Beautiful clothes but the worst customer experience I have received in years.
They accept orders which they aren’t able to deliver & the back & forthing in trying (& failing) to resolve was frankly, laughable.
I’m still awaiting contact from the owner, who I asked repeatedly to speak to.
I note that other negative reviews on here have been met with distain (clearly, when it comes to Shibumi, the customer most definitely isn’t always right) which reiterates my earlier comment regarding the level of service.
PS I am not Rosemary but interesting to see that I’m not alone in my terrible experience (still awaiting contact from the owner incidentally!)

I would advise anyone considering spending a lot of money on an outfit for a special occasion to think very carefully before buying one from Shibumi. I had seen Shibumi coats and dresses and promised myself an outfit for my sons wedding. I contacted them 5 months before the wedding, made an appointment, selected a matching dress and coat with a jacket in another colour. The dress was to be made to measure. The order was paid for in full (3 noughts figure). It took two months for the dress and coat to arrive, and several more weeks for the jacket to be delivered. The dress had not been made to the correct measurements and fitted very badly. When the jacket arrived it had a problem with the attachment of the interfacing and the front and collar had a strange lumpy appearance. Shibumi initially refused to accept responsibility for the incorrectly made dress, and it took several more weeks for them to agree to pay to have the dress altered. After two lots of alterations by a tailor recommended by them the dress still does not fit correctly. The faulty jacket was returned, and after further delay the replacement arrived, which had exactly the same fault. This has been returned and a refund is awaited. A refund of the cost of the made to measure service has been given - but a few days before the wedding I do not have the special outfit I paid for 4 months ago, and their website and marketing promise. Shibumi have been extremely difficult to deal with, delayed responding to emails and calls, implied that responsibility for the problems with the dress sits with me, and have made excuses and ignored or misconstrued information. The director Ruth has refused to speak to me. The approach to dealing with a complaint seems to be, deny it, blame the customer and eventually grudgingly provide the bare minimum refund. I would give them zero stars if this was an option.
Thanks for your response, which just about sums up your attitude very nicely. For the record as this is in the public domain - you had a phone message and a text within the hour and later the same day an email to confirm that I WAS NOT HAPPY with the dress when I left the tailors after the second lot of alterations.

Beautiful dressing gown, altered to fit perfectly and looks wonderful!
I contacted Sophie about ordering a jacket which need additional length in the sleeves and body as I am quite tall (5'11") and "off the shelf" products don't fit. As mother of the bride I wanted to have a well fitting jacket. The jacket arrived well wrapped and earlier than planned and fitted beautifully. It was much admired at the wedding and I felt special, the advice from Sophie was excellent and I cant fault the customer experience.

Great product and great service. I had an unexpectedly late invite and Shibumi was very flexible in their approach to sending my coat - which was admired widely!
I bought a reversible dressing gown as a gift for a friend, when arrived ( was early) it was in a lovely package and the dressing gown was beautiful.
My friend loved it.
As an older woman of generous proportions I had struggled long and hard to find anything to wear as mother of the groom that didn't make me look like a stuffed chicken. And then I found Shibumi! Because of the anxiety of Covid I ended up with two beautiful coats, and have worn both of them several times already. I felt comfortable, elegant and appropriate. I really valued the opportunity to try on for size and colour and the team at Shibumi couldn't have been more helpful. It has all been a delight.
My son decided to get married at short notice in May 2021, leaving little time to get an outfit. My daughter found the Shibumi website and I immediately decided that I wanted one of their outfits. Sophie was extremely helpful over the phone, advising about colours, fabrics and styles, and the express service actually managed to deliver my outfit in time, despite horrific conditions in India at that stage. Sophie made a special trip to the post office to ensure I got it a few days before the wedding. The dress and coat are beautiful and fit perfectly, based solely on my measurements (no time for fittings). I am now looking for other occasions to wear these elegant and luxurious garments.
I contacted Shibumi by telephone and email and used the on line booking tool. It was very easy to do and the communication was excellent. I decided to visit the shop because I wanted to make sure I made the right choice for my daughters wedding. I wasn’t disappointed. My coat arrived on time beautifully packed and perfect for the occasion
I bought a dressing gown from Shibumi that fell apart at the seams having only worn it a few times around my house after 8 days of owning it. The company refused me a refund even though I was legally entitled to one under the Comsumer Rights Act as not fit for purpose nor was it of satisfactory quality. (I took legal advice to confirm this fact). I had pointed out to them where the seams were coming apart down the front of the gown as well as the sides and despite me asking them not to mend it, as I wanted to get a professional tailor of my own to check it, they mended the front, so as to hide the evidence of the manufacturing fault (Incredibly, they haven't even managed to line the stitching up with the original seam). They have not had the courtesy of replying to my last e-mail and nor have they given a reason for only mending the front seam, where there is absolutely no tension during wear. A clear indication that they are covering up the fault that they have absolutely no explanation for and cannot blame me for. By doing this they have gone expressly against my wishes in this ongoing matter. They left the side seams torn, their accusation being that I must have sat down too 'heavily' in it. The gown is falling apart down the sides of my legs, not where my bottom would put pressure on the seams. Luckily I took photographic evidence of all the faults before I returned it to them. They have treated me with contempt and discourtesy throughout my dealings with them. I have noticed other very poor reviews on Trust Pilot too about their lack of customer service and the poor quality of the dressing gowns. It would appear that we have all been treated in the same way - accused of mistreating the fabric/garment. I do not spend £255 on a dressing gown lightly. It was an expensive treat, so to be condescended to in that manner is extremely disrespectful. I fail to understand why they will not take responsibility for their faults and learn from previous mistakes. Not to be recommended or trusted on any level.

What was amazing was that although I live on the other side of the world, my Shibumi garment only took about a week to arrive!
Beautiful quality, it will ‘see me out’ as my mother used to say! 😂
It was expensive, but well worth it!
I bought a coat to wear to my sons wedding from this company. Before ordering, I was unsure about sizing, so I called them for advice and the person I spoke to was extremely courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. The coat arrived promptly - the look and quality was so amazing that I ordered the matching dress soon after it arrived. My experience of this company was a breath of fresh air, the service was excellent, both the dress and coat were great value for money and I would highly recommend them - can't wait to wear my classy, elegant outfit.
The amazing coat arrived on the day promised and was a big hit. Can't praise Shibumil highly enough
I couldn’t have found a better Mother of the Bride outfit than at Shibumi. It was absolutely perfect and I had so many lovely comments, it was just perfect. The service from the girls was fabulous and the quality was so beautiful that I treated myself to a dressing gown too!
I adore the jacket that I received today, took a risk as I needed something quickly and ordered the hot pink as it was in stock.
It’s stunning, fits beautifully and was sent quickly. I fear this will become an addictive website.
