Great explanation and advice
Great explanation and advice, really helpful, easy hands-on practice included with real life examples on do's and don'ts.
A sound, coherent framework to guide you through visual communication
I particularly appreciated how Jernej offers a clear and cohesive operational framework to guide decisions on visual communication and beyond. Plus it's quite modular: you first learn general principles ("fundamentals"), then understand how to apply them in the most common scenarios of scientific communication - such as images, paper figures, presentation slides, posters, and grants. Having that as a guideline already spares you some time in decision making (and hopefully prevents you from hasty bad decisions).
His webinars are concise and to the point (I'm looking forward to the upcoming ones!), but if you can, do sign up for one of his workshops. It does require some preparation—learning the fundamentals and submitting some of your old slides/images you want feedback on —but it's well worth the investment. Jernej carefully structured our 1-day workshop to maximise participation, discussion of common challenges and tailored feedback. The subgroup exercises we went through offered valuable insights into others' thought processes and their reception of our visual communication. Overall, it’s a far more effective and rewarding experience than learning methods online. Plus, it’s a good networking opportunity!
Thanks, Jernej! Keep up the great work, and I hope your vision of the Seyens method becoming a recognized asset on people's CV comes true soon :)

Essential workshop for scientists: practical and eye-opening
I recently attended the Visual Communication Workshop by Seyens and found it to be an incredibly valuable experience. The workshop was exceptionally well-structured, with a thoughtful blend of pre-workshop self-study and interactive sessions. The pre-workshop material was concise yet packed with insightful principles that are often overlooked in daily scientific communication.
What truly set this workshop apart was the personalized, in-depth feedback provided. Jernej’s expertise and constructive guidance not only will help improve my visual communication skills but also highlighted techniques rarely taught in traditional academic training. The level of detail and practical application made the workshop highly impactful.
I highly recommend Seyens to anyone looking to elevate their scientific communication—this workshop goes beyond standard guidelines and offers truly actionable insights.
Well-structured and fun
Well-structured, good balance between individual and general feedback on slides and figures.
Great Course!
Overall Great
The *Seyens Method for Effective Visual Communication of Science* course offers a comprehensive and practical approach to transforming complex scientific content into visually engaging and easily understandable material. The course focuses on key principles of visual design, data visualization, and storytelling, equipping participants with the skills to communicate science effectively to both experts and the general public. It emphasizes clarity, emotional engagement, and accessibility, making science more approachable and impactful. While the course is highly beneficial, it may require some prior knowledge of design concepts for optimal results. Overall, it’s a valuable resource for anyone looking to enhance their ability to communicate science visually and meaningfully.

The online material was very clear and nicely structured, providing valuable insights and easy-to-implement strategies for visual communication. The workshop was also good, and the hands-on exercise with feedback from others was useful as well.

Visual communication review
Feed back of our own works is a great session, allowing us to become both author and audience at the same time.
Seyens method online course
Jernej Zupanc provides a great course on the design strategies of science visualization, which includes feedback on participants own work. This is not a course on how to use software (e.g., PowerPoint), but how to design.
There is a quite a bit of self-study material, with the option of instead following a web seminar about this content, which is nice as it provides maximum flexibility. I used the online self-study material and liked it as I could pause and take screen captures of slides for my notes. He uses effective examples to show you what works, and what does not. I can recommend the course as it challenges you to look at your own work critically and provides ways to improve. Most people can design a figure or a presentation, but with this course you learn how to do to it well.

I liked how several things that are different aspects of visual communication were put together and explained to us in a comprehensive way.
Interesting course on general design guidelines
The course was interesting and informative. In particular the last part on detailed design principles and color schemes helped me a lot. However, a significant part of the course was spent on general and rather abstract aspects of visualisation that could have been way shorter from my point of view. Cutting this part would make the course more concise and less repetitive.
Good and interactive course
Jernej was a really good and motivated Coach. He provided is with a lot of preparation material and as well after the course we got additional Materials to learn further.
The course was interactive and we got good feedback on our slides and figures.
Excellent training and session
very much interactive and what was different was got feedback on slides or posters which was very unique.
Looking for more such session, Jernej is amazing.
