Don't hire him. He sued me. Now, he wants to run when I counter-sued him!
In May 2019, I hired Jayson Carley to perform lead-based paint work. The work product was dramatically below the contractually stated level of quality. It took over 2 months to make the house weatherproof (but, still well below the quality standard). After the job was completed, he disclosed that he had hired a non-licensed subcontractor (who was not lead-based paint certified) – and, because of this, he wanted me to pay the subcontractor directly (as he couldn’t). I refused.
During the project, I discovered multiple lead-based paint work process violations (subsequently I filed an EPA complaint). Jayson’s invoice contained overbilling and double billing problems. Jayson has yet to be able to show proof of all expenses for which he billed me. After discovering, the fraudulent nature of our relationship; I cancelled payment of my last payment to him. Jayson’s response was to file a lawsuit against me in superior court. I was forced to hire an attorney to file a counter-complaint, now Jayson is trying to backout and is asking me to drop my counter-complaint (presumably because he knows that his case is without merit). DO NOT do business with Jayson Carley – I found him to be bully-like in his tactics and untrustworthy in his billing! What ever you do, ensure there is a “legal fee” clause in your contract with him.
