Seoulstart is a free resource for foreign residents settling in Korea. We publish plain-English guides on housing, banking, healthcare, and everyday expat life - covering everything from signing your first lease to setting up a bank account and finding English-speaking doctors. Korea's rental system is unlike anything most foreigners have encountered. Jeonse deposits worth tens of millions of won. Lease rules encoded in Korean law that landlords and agents interpret differently. Deposit fraud schemes that have cost renters everything. Most information online is scattered, outdated, or written for Korean nationals. Seoulstart was built to fix that. Every guide is written in plain English and based on official Korean government sources including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), the Seoul Housing Portal, and the Korea Housing Finance Corporation (HUG). When regulations change, we update our content. We also provide free calculators for agent fees, jeonse vs. wolse cost comparisons, deposit safety checks, and move-in cost estimates. Neighborhood guides cover popular expat areas across Seoul and Busan including Itaewon, Hannam-dong, Hongdae, and Gangnam. Whether you are arriving in Korea for the first time or renewing a lease, Seoulstart gives you the information you need to make confident decisions.

Thoughtfully curated and always something new

SeoulStart feels different from other resources because of how well it curates its content. Instead of recycling the same basic information, it highlights guides and topics that are genuinely hard to find in one place. There is a strong sense that someone has carefully selected what is actually useful and interesting for foreigners, rather than just trying to cover everything superficially.

What keeps me coming back is the variety and freshness. New guides and perspectives seem to appear regularly, and I often find myself learning things I was not even actively searching for. It makes the platform both practical and enjoyable to browse, which is rare for this kind of resource.

Essential resource for foreigners in Korea

I’ve found SeoulStart to be an incredibly valuable resource as a foreigner navigating life in Korea. What really stands out is how comprehensive and practical their guides are. They do not just cover surface-level tips, but dive into all the key aspects of settling in, from job searching and visas to daily life essentials and cultural nuances.

The content feels thoughtfully put together, clearly written, and genuinely useful whether you are newly arrived or have been here for a while. It saves a huge amount of time compared to piecing together information from scattered sources online.

What I appreciate most is that the platform seems built with real user needs in mind. The guides anticipate common pain points and provide clear, actionable advice, which makes the whole experience of living and working in Korea much smoother.

Overall, I would highly recommend SeoulStart to any foreigner looking for a reliable, all-in-one resource to better understand and navigate life in Korea.
