I like to look up specific SNPs of interest. It is easy to do so. I also like the health documents that highlight your strengths and weaknesses. And I also like access to the biohackers blog and how it is linked to your genetic SNPs and their significance. Can't say enough good things about this site.

They supposedly had a glitch in their online system so I paid $397 USD and then another $111 USD for the DNA kit. I cancelled any and all services but am told they can not refund the DNA test kit charge because it's already shipped. If they had answered the phone or responded sooner to my emails, the shipment could have been canceled. If you don't want to get slammed stay clear of their services.

I reviewed our records, and see our Customer Support team acted quickly upon receiving your voicemail. Unfortunately, the DNA kit order had already shipped the day prior and thus could not be cancelled.
Since our shipments are processed very quickly, often on the same day, our policy regarding refunds on DNA kits is firm. We cannot accept unused kits because of strict lab regulations, which do not allow us to restock or reuse returned kits. This helps to ensure the integrity and safety of our testing process.
I can see here that we promptly refunded you for the duplicate order and shipping costs upon your contact and also refunded your subscription fee as requested. However, the cost of the DNA kit that had shipped was non-refundable. Again, I am truly sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
We strive to provide the best service possible and we do regret any misunderstanding. We remain dedicated to assisting you, and would love to find a solution that works for you if you reach out to us at support@selfdecode.com

Overpriced scam. Used to be good.
I cant even begin to describe how much they changed over the course of a couple years. Maybe they have financial problems because they treat their customers like paypigs. The so called "lifetime membership" that was supposed to be the one-time-purchase equivalent to the "health insights" membership is worth nothing anymore. It doesn't cover any of the newly added features, it doesn't cover the disease reports, it doesn't cover decodyGPT and the list goes on. If i want to use decodyGPT for example i have to sign up for the health insights membership that was supposed to be covered by my lifetime membership and pay and additional 99€ per year or pay for each use. Their "Ancestry" section is a joke (no details at all and they have it in beta for almost a year now), the DNA data file with your genetic data is not in the commonly used notation which makes it a pain to work with on your own, their privacy policy changed from "you'll get the data over our cold, dead bodies" to "yeah we might share your genetic information", the disease reports that are used to identify possible genetic diseases are behind another pay wall and apparently worth 300€ because they force you to talk to a doctor to get them. So all in all: its not worth it anymore. Get your genetic data analyzed by a proper company and wait for a large language model to analyze it for you. Theres no need to give money to this company. It would be wasted. After all, even the DNA file you are receiving is worthless to you if you don't feed them money all the time. If i manage to delete my original 5 star review i will do so immediately. The disappointment i am feeling is crazy and i regret recommending this company to my family and friends.

First, it's important to clarify that our Lifetime Access membership does not guarantee unlimited access to all features we release forever; it means you won't have recurring annual payments. Lifetime members still have access to all core features and reports, including 650+ DNA reports, the lab analyzer, recommendations feature, meal and action plan builder, lifestyle assessments, questionnaires, and more. This is what we always promised to our Lifetime subscribers.
Our price increases are not due to financial problems. In fact, we are continuously improving our service and adding innovative features, which require significant time and resources. Since you signed up in 2021, our service has evolved considerably. As costs rise globally, it's normal for companies to adjust their pricing. We never guaranteed that our service would remain at one cost or be all-inclusive indefinitely, as this is unrealistic.
We understand your frustration with the ancestry reports, and ask you to bear with us. This feature is still relatively new, and we are actively working on improvements. However, our primary focus is not on ancestry - it is on providing health-based actionable recommendations by analyzing your DNA, labs, and lifestyle. The ancestry feature was added as an additional, fun benefit for our users.
Regarding our privacy policy, we take your data security very seriously. We do not share your genetic information with third parties. Your DNA file is always downloadable from your account, and we do not withhold your data in any way. The statements you mentioned, such as "you'll get the data over our cold, dead bodies" or "yeah we might share your genetic information," are not reflective of our policies.
I've reviewed our email history, and our Customer Support team has always aimed to be kind and supportive, addressing your questions and concerns promptly. It's disheartening to see this review, especially since you seem to use our service regularly.
We hope you understand our reasoning for the changes and improvements we’ve made. If you are still unsatisfied with the service, we respect your decision to discontinue its use. However, we are always here to assist you and improve your experience in any way we can.

Very helpful in cancer healing and recurrence prevention.
I had breast cancer at 28. When I asked my oncologist why she thought this had happened to me at such a young age and she told me there was no way to know for certain so not to worry about it, I decided to look into things myself. One of the many tools I used to look for potential root causes and work on improving them was SelfDecode, and it has continued to be a part of my health management and recurrence prevention in life after cancer as well. The health recommendations give you somewhere to start at a time when there just seems to be so much to learn and look at. It was a port in a storm, and one that I am very thankful for.

No-one answers my emailed questions, and even though they say you can cancel subscription but keep access until it expires, as soon as you try to cancel it just asks you to tick boxes agreeing to lose all access immediately. Super annoying.

You say you responded immediately to my questions, but the only response I got was an automated one about how to cancel the subscription, which was what I was complaining about with following these instructions leading to the associated 'lose immediate access' tick boxes. I must say that I am very biassed having been so impressed with SelfDecode's manner and response to questions that I joined them with WeFunder 3 years ago. I have tested with Sequencing and also have a lifetime subscription with Nebula Genomics, but these other companies are very slow to respond to criticism of their reports.

Paid for lifetime membership years ago and still can’t get my raw data. Furthermore most of the provided analysis is generic and conflicting, anything worth looking at is hidden behind another paywall, and the whole platform has been dumbed down to a shoddy marketing scheme.
DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY! I wasted mine and still can’t afford to get more useful test despite my doctors strong recommendations.

For example, to improve your health in area A, we may recommend eating more protein, however to improve your health in area B, we may recommend eating less protein. The list of recommendations we provide is prioritized for you based on the number of risks (genetic, lab, lifestyle) it will help with.

I find SelfDecode helpful
I was downloading a report that i had set in motion. I like knowing what my genes are doing so I can help myself and my body be the best it can be. SelfDecode helps me do that. I love the reports and Joe's podcast. I enjoy the posts that Joe does. It helps me go outside of the box in terms of thinking of things I wouldn't normally. I've been trying alot of the supplements Joe suggests, more often than not I find them helpful. I have a gut situation, so am always navigating that. BTW, I'm an energy healer, meditation teacher and a personal trainer.
