Ahhh, Securly!

You know this site; I know it too. It is a school web filter designed to be better than the other filters. BUT IT'S NOT! Securly is a school malware installed to your school computer by your administrators, and here's why IT SUCKS LIKE GOGUARDIAN DOES!

1st reason: It Blocks like TOO MANY SITES, Even blocks harmless ones that we need to use for free time, education, and work. MOST OF THOSE SITES GET BLOCKED like Wheel of NAMES, CONTEXTO, AND RUINED MY CODING CAREER BY BLOCKING SCRATCH!!! Seriously, I got popular on Scratch, and I create projects to rise my popularity, and this dumb web filter ENTIRELY blocked Scratch on August 18, 2025. These Gnomes also frightened by eating what's called the unblocking wires!!! We know that you should not play video games in class, but it blocks HARMLESS SITES AND doesn't give us free time whenever were done. If you also try to avoid the block page by going to a new tab, THAT TAB TURNS INTO A BLOCK PAGE FROM A DIFFERENT BLOCKED SITE. I also could not ask for permission after school, this is basically evil.

2nd Reason: Securly Classroom is one of the OLDEST main products Securly has made, along with Filter. What basically does is that it spies on your school computer 24/7 reporting critical activity into Securly Aware. But it also spies on you by Securly classroom with interactions the teachers have. And whenever teachers make a blocking plan, I ALWAYS SEE A SLEEPING DOG on my Block page too. If you want to get away from the monitoring, you can go to Gallery or Files Except Chrome because Securly Classroom only spies on you on Chrome. But the only thing I like for Securly Classroom is TEACHER LOCKED YOUR SCREEN!!!
__
| ! |
--

Additional Reasons: Securly also has a feature having BLACK SCREEN (or white screen) with 3 Blue loading dots whenever you load in the page. It is a DUMB feature just BASICALLY BLOCKING THE VIEW OF HOW IT LOADS or EVEN STOPPING YOU FROM CLICKING STUFF TOO EARLY. There is also Securly Pass which attracted many Schools to use it, and in Securly's Youtube Channel (Yes Securly has a YouTube Channel) Securly uploads many videos of schools that are supporting Securly Pass! And though MY SCHOOL NEVER USED SECURLY PASS. One of my teachers tried it and got bored and never used it! Everyone Complains about Securly and why it is bad and These School Computers have a risk of getting STALKED or even sell their PERSONAL IMFORMATION! I actually manage to hack through the block page by using the "esc" key, but IT WAS PATCHED ON APRIL 25th, 2026. This Super colorful Blue backgrounds attract many schools, and THESE CLIPART KIDS AND STAFF ARE LITTERALLY THE WEIRDEST PEOPLE to be there. They ALWAYS Smile AND SEE SECURLY AS A MAJOR HELPER. That's the OPPOSITE OF A NORMAL STUDENT. There is also a dumb feature were clicking on ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or any other AI websites would LEAD YOU TO SECURLY AI CHAT WHO HAS NO BRAIN ON PERSONAL ACTIVITIES. Finally, Securly also released what's called "Securly AI Transparency" (Which basically makes us think that Classroom, filter, and Aware made it) is a whole waste and even BAD FOR THIS SITE, just basically showing your search history, and made MORE PEOPLE GO TO TRUSTPILOT AND REVIEW IT 1-STAR. Every other Review also is AGAINST Securly, but this article would be the probably the best information I've got!

Products:
Securly Classroom
Securly Filter
Securly Aware
Securly Pass
Securly Visitor
Securly Home
Securly Reveal
Securly Discern
Securly AI Transparency
Securly Rithim
Securly Flex (BRO WHY???)
Securly On call
Securly Observe (BRO HAS ME IN ONE OF THE PICTURES THAT IS SAD [Example of Disrespect by Securly])

So, Guys, if you read this through all, I am very impressed and maybe it helped you: Help my YouTube Channel: ThreeStasgamo, get MORE SUBS than SECURLY!

securly sucks so muchhh

securly sucks, it is forced onto our Chromebooks, everything fun is blocked except some stuff that are SUPER niche, if an educational site is blocked it's always for "Games" or "Anonymous proxies" such as Ducksters which got blocked somehow, also they blocked WHEEL OF NAMES. you heard that right for "OTHER ADULT CONTENT" if I could, I would ban securly and make it illegal. I would rather lightspeed as at least it has more freedom

Securly is a Malware Collar - Us Students Wish for Privacy and Freedom

YEAH, I already know I wrote a whole bunch of paragraphs, but it needs to be said...
I did not use a chat bot or any form of AI to create this review, but instead I took about an hour to 2 hours to recount my experience and to give reliable info.

I want to write this review for an honest recounting of my experience as a sophomore student. This extension/app was installed on all student computers in my second semester of 8th grade (which is the first year in my high school) and honestly, this seemed to already be a pain from the start. To be completely honest, it's a real piece of work that should be uninstalled entirely.
For one, Securly heavily delays how the already dysfunctional computer operates tasks, how it runs applications, how it manages data, and its refresh rate of the screen. (For my non-tech-savvy people out there, refresh rate means how many times per second your computer redraws/reloads an image) For example, whenever you want to send an image over GMail, you will have to wait 1 minute to 3 minutes to send a simple image to an admin, teacher or peer because of Securly running in the background. Let's say you want to add some images to your Google Slides for an important class project, but unfortunately, you now have to reload your Google Slides tab two or three times just for those few images to load. Along with your difficulty using Google Slides, if you try to run five to seven tabs, that are running websites, your computer slows down majorly--at sometimes, websites used for research won't load due to the amount of scanning and background tasks that Securly is processing. To sum it up, sprinkles and glitter on a pile of trash.
Secondly, the "reason" why administrators implement Securly is futile and a waste of money. Admin will explain at the start of a new school year what Securly's purpose is during an assembly. The explanation that they give every student is that Securly is meant to prevent data from being hacked, to report suggestive or harmful content, and to "keep students on task," which every reason seems to be positive, but pointless when you, as a student, experience this.
Securly tries to protect students from graphic or illicit content, and yet it doesn't work half the time. As sickening as it is to admit, I have seen my peers look up such content on their computers, bypassing the faulty Protection Software. Securly will also falsely report basic Google Searches--for instance, I was looking up, "How Mental Health is Affected by School Work." Although, it thought that I was mentally unwell and I got sent to a counselor's office within ten minutes. Other content including wars, medication, historical or modern weapons, even types of animals, can trigger this system to report you.
My school claims that Securly can protect staff and student data, but that statement has been debunked twice over. Within the three years of having this Chromebook extension, student and staff data was hacked and leaked twice through another website that shows students their grade, along with their personal information. After the second leak, administrators stated that they would be "taking things more seriously on the school's network." In most students' opinions, "a very poor statement," to put it as mature and as family friendly as possible. Over GMail, Everyone has had their experience with malware and phishing from hackers that pretend to be students countless times, which ask you for very personal information, from your phone number to your banking company that you trust.
Not only do these problems not stop at data leaking, but also teachers or administrators can monitor you when you're at home. Sometimes, students who post their experience online speak of being afraid of the fact that a teacher can watch them anytime, anywhere.
The cherry on top of this horror show of our 'defective-system-cake' is the fact that you have to pay $2-10 (U.S.D.) a year per student for Securly according to Genesis Technologies Incorporated. To put into perspective of everyone with Securly on their device(s), our total amount of money wasted on a substandard security extension is a whopping $14,310 every year.
My third reason why we should uninstall Securly is the fact that it's considered malware under three classifications. Reviewing the facts that are laid out, Securly falls under three different types of Malware: Fileless Malware, Spyware, and a Trojan Virus. It is Fileless Malware because it is a memory-resident software that operates directly in the computer's memory, stealing data. It is Spyware because Securly reports everything that you are doing to a remote user-- A.K.A. admin. It's a Trojan Virus because it's disguised as helpful software, but will gain access to sensitive data while modifying and blocking that data.

Securly blocks EVERYTHING.

i am writing this in class. my teacher wants us to study animals for biology, and i heard that donkeys can be called asses. i thought, “oh, that’s a species! i want to look this up.” guess what securly did? go on. guess!

it blocked it for safesearch. because i wrote “ass”. another time, in 7th grade, i needed a sound effect for an iMovie my classmates and i were making about wars. i needed a sound effect of someone pounding on a door, but i wasnt gonna write “person pounding on a door really hard”. too much typing. so like any NORMAL person, i typed “banging on door sound effect”. it blocked it. again, safesearch. the word banging CAN be not school appropriate, but this thing assumes the worst! i swear, this thing is so damn dirty minded that even if you look up the most perfectly normal thing it blocks it because it CAN be inappropriate.

screw you securly, i hope your CEO burns in hell

This isn’t a protective website it’s a dangerous website. They are spying on kids in their homes, spying on what we do on our own devices that is none of their business. They are also blocking educational websites and websites we use for our school work. Seriously? This is what your motive is? Securly is so damn stupid. Securly is way too out of control!!!

Privacy is entirely obsolete

Privacy is entirely obsolete, I had my identity disclosed without my consent, same with many other students like me. It gives a little too much info about students, and the filters are also absolutely broken. I know this extension is to keep students safe, and I feel like this extension could have potential, but until privacy is brought back, I can't really give it a good review.

Who is running the place?

The people who created this atrocity have got to be at the very least lazy, if not completely uninterested in improving the very noticeable flaws with the platform. I remember, the absolute frustration of the Securly Pause feature - while exclusive to the parent app - which disables all domains, excepting a few like Google Classroom. Except, that doesn't, or at least didn't, even work. Just opening a tab group while Securly Pause would not only mitigate the feature, it would also get around any and all blocking policy, school or home enforced. Don't even mention the blocking policy. Not only did they block common websites that students liked to use, which, I mean, fair, but then they also blocked YouTube, which, while I can see the reasoning behind, became a major hindrance for learning. On top of that, at one point, the klunky algorithm somehow managed to block. Its. Own. Website. Just... how... why? The worst part, though, without a doubt, is, say it with me everyone, Securly Classroom! This juggernaught of spyware hiding behind the branding of student safety and learning, gives any teacher assigned to that student full access to their school issued device. One feature of Securly Classroom is access to every student's entire screen. Not the window, the whole screen. Not even your wallpaper is safe for crying out loud! Another neat little tidbit is that it's live. Every single student's computer screen is at the fingertips of their teacher, being updated every few seconds. On top of all of that, teachers have the power to close any browser tab, completely remove access to the entire computer, restrict any website they want to during the classroom period, prevent students from going onto any but one desired site, as well as send a private message to "get them back on track." And the most hilariously somehow not illegal part about all of this, is that Securly Classroom can be active 24/7. Securly also builds a database for every student's Google Search records. So yeah, Securly is definitely built for kids.

It’s not worth losing creativity, and fun.

No creativity or happiness comes from this, teachers already have Light-speed. I was once was having free time before we had Securly, (at school) our teacher let us have free time after our work was done. It was the best, we had competitions to see who would get farthest in Flappy bird. But then it came, every thing was blocked, our searches our games like ragdoll archers, balloons tower defense, basketball random, and stick war legacy to name a few of my favorites. Our days were once fun, now everything is blocked. Oh also by the way we get spied on by securly at home. They don’t help us. They destroy our creativity, games, fun, and school life’s. As I said teachers already have light-speed, It’s not worth it, for anyone.

Securly SUCKS

Securly SUCKS! It slows everything down, blocks everything, even normal stuff. But it doesn't, apperantly, block the n word. Don't ask me why. And then, it secretely watches you through your webcam and can force you to reveal your location, even at home. And it slows everything down into three blue spinning dots. Get rid of it NOW.

Securly destroyed my school and sent everyone to the chambers

SO, I was walking to school and before school, me and a couple of buddy's go on our Chromebooks and play games. But then, OUR SCHOOL INSTALLED IT. So we couldn't play our games. Then we discovered HTML files. So we played those for 8 months. THEN THEY FOUND OUT. A gnome came to our a school hand in hand with SUSAN WINCUP. They got recently engaged. Then she put a thumb stick in the school server-box and blocked everything EVEN SECURLY ITSELF. Then half the kids in our school got depression and one of them had the "bright" idea to BLOW UP THE SCHOOL. So as they were planting the last mine. SUSAN WINCUPS helicopter with the words "just married" on it. there were little graphics of Gnomes and Susans. Then she started grabbing kids and throwing them in the helicopter. Then as we were leaving THE SCHOOL BLEW UP. Then she laughed and said that we were naughty and that we were going to the chambers. then we flew far to south and north Carolina where the headquarters was. THEN THEY GRABBED US AND THEY US INTO A PIT. Then we were forced to eat raw beans with blue food coloring while a dog in a security uniform watched us. I feel bad for him, he's trapped here too. Then me and the dog escaped when the lights went out. We are on the run now, UPDATE SOON. (hopefully)
