I applied three weeks ago online for an account with YBS. They wanted extra documents for identity which I took down to the local branch near me. I am still waiting to hear from them over two weeks since I provided the documents.. In the meantime I have opened three accounts online with other providers, all of which are now active with money deposited.
Appalling customer care
Appalling customer care. Unwilling to help loyal customers. No help available to those struggling!! Shocking bank.

Beyond awful..
Beyond awful... incorrectly told me that i couldn't add Early repayment charges to mortgage. Cost me thousands in the process given current rate climate. Expect a letter from the ombudsman soon.
Can't get through on phone
I have been given a cheque today but when I went to my nearest Yorkshire Bank on Town Street, Horsforth, Leeds to deposit the cheque it wasnt there even though there's lots of mentions of it on the internet. I have tried phoning YB on 2 numbers. I have been over an hour on these 2 numbers. I have given up.

Sorry but... no, not available right now ... can't talk today .. doesn't work here no more
My mother, recently widowed from a loving marriage of almost 60 years, needed to transfer funds, closing the deposit account my late father had had with his local branch of the Yorkshire Bank (since 1976).
During the initial visit to this particular branch, we made enquiries into carrying out my Mum's request. The female advisor at the time, whose name tag I mentally noted, said "..it's a formal but simple procedure.. requires the filling out & signing of some forms." As my mother didn't have any photo-id, death certificate, etc. with her at the time, she was given some (paper) forms to take away with her, fill in and bring back to the branch the following week.
Upon return to the branch, it turned out the forms given to her previously, were the wrong ones for this type of request. In trying to track down the source of the problem (the original advisor) and to air her complaints, my mother was bared-faced, lied to and given the run-around. Examples include, being told banking staff had recently gone on leave or had left entirely or were too busy and won't be able to speak with today. This is simply unacceptable, deceitful behaviour by branch employees !
My mother continued to receive this for a further 3 WEEKS until her formal request finally carried out. An experience my mother described at the time as TRULY AWFUL - one which nobody should have to go through in order to access their money.
We are glad to have cut ties with Yorkshire Bank and wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone, EVER !
NB.
'Would-be' account holders, take note of the Yorkshire Bank's (and/or Virgin Money parent's ) non, yep ZERO RESPONSE TO ANY of its Trustpilot reviews, GOOD & BAD.
A clear indication of its attitude towards its own corporate image & reputation - NONE EXISTANT !
READERS BEWARE !

What a despicable bank this is
What a despicable bank this is. When are they going to read the levels of dissatisfaction and take note of their customers feedback. By a mistake beyond my control, two mortgage payments have not been made on time. The mortgage companies have accepted the payments late without penalties, but the Yorkshire Bank has debited two charges for failed DD payments. The good news is that I am leaving the bank and moving my business to Handelsbanken, goodbye Branson. THIS BANK IS AN EMBARRASSMENT TO THE COUNTY OF YORKSHIRE USING ITS NAME.
Utterly incompetent - AVOID
I've been with Yorkshire Bank (now Virgin Money) for 18 years and I've put up with appalling service for about the last 12. I finally got round to moving to another bank and my simple written request to close my account has still not been actioned after 3 weeks, despite numerous phone calls, live chats and emails.
It's time to find a better bank
It's time I find another bank. This bank is not trusted as a safe place for my money. The app doesn't allow me to screenshot which I find strange as that would be how to prove the failures of the bank.
If there is to be a corrupt bank out there. This is the one.
Virgin bank fails again
Wrote a bad review for the virgin bank app and received a reply from Apple asking me to contact on a phone that is not answered by Virgin with an appropriate choice. Sent me link to the developer but that just dumps you onto the Virgin web site. Sent option to revise my review but has to be done via the app and once again the app just hangs on trying to open.
Terrible bank
Terrible bank. I have been trying to get share scheme money back that I invested with them back for three weeks. They are quite happy to take your money and are very good at that. Getting your money back is near impossible. Five calls later wasting me above five hours in total and I still can't get my money back. No wonder their ratings are so low. Avoid at all costs.

I bank at Yorkshire Bank
I bank at Yorkshire Bank, Bradfield Road, Hillsborough, Sheffield. On 25th November 2019, I had to visit the bank on very important business. I parked in Bradfield Road car park. The business took longer than expected so Katie Grace, our advisor, took my registration number and told us it would be okay she would sort it. 3 years later, the fine from Highview Parking stands at £300+ with the threat of court action. At 72 and 70 and disabled we can do without this.
Since I posted this review, I've spoken to Highview Parking and have ended up paying £145. Thank you Yorkshire Bank, this is money I can do better things with,
