I am writing to report a serious safety…

I am writing to report a serious safety issue concerning a wooden mobile holder / music hanger / play arch attachment for a baby bed (brand: Sebra), which I recently purchased through Babypark.

This product is designed for use above a baby and must therefore meet the highest safety standards. After only a light pull on the cord of the hanging toy, the attachment component broke off completely. The heavy wooden part fell directly down into the baby bed. Fortunately, my baby was not lying in the bed at that moment, but the consequences could have been extremely serious.

Upon inspection, I found that:

the load-bearing part was not properly secured,

the construction relies largely on glue rather than proper mechanical fastening, despite the presence of a screw,

the central screw opening was not functionally used at all,

the component is therefore structurally weak at exactly the point where stress occurs.

This is not a matter of normal wear or user error, but a fundamental construction defect in a product that is placed above a baby. That is completely unacceptable from a safety perspective.

I kindly request that you investigate this matter urgently and inform me how this dangerous defect will be addressed.

12-01

Thank you for your response and for forwarding the matter to your purchasing department and supplier.

I would like to clarify that I did not purchase this product directly from you, but via Babypark. I am nevertheless reporting this incident to you because I believe it is important that you are aware of this safety issue and can take appropriate action to prevent this from happening to other parents.

The part did not simply loosen it came off while the product was being used above my baby. This means it could have fallen directly onto my child. That is a serious safety risk, not just a defect.

Because of this, I no longer feel safe using the same model again. I therefore do not wish to receive a replacement of this product.

I trust you understand the seriousness of this situation.

I do not recommend Sebra Interiors

I do not recommend Sebra Interiors. We bought a bed that cost over €1,000, advertised as a high-quality piece meant to last for years. Unfortunately, the paint started peeling off—surprisingly, while we were away from home for a month. When we contacted customer service, they refused to take responsibility, blaming us instead of acknowledging the issue might be due to poor paint quality.

Even though the product comes with a five-year guarantee, they only offered to send us some paint, which is far from a proper solution. After reading other reviews, I see we’re not the only ones experiencing similar problems. It seems Sebra is consistently avoiding responsibility when issues arise. Big shame for a brand selling premium products.

Dear Hayk

We are sorry that you are disappointed with the quality of the bed as well as the answers provided by our customer service.

However, the 5-year extended warranty covers breakage of components and damage during normal use caused by manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, which is not the case here.

The damages on your bed, comes from daily wear and tear – possibly your child biting the edges and toys hitting against the bed, and that is not considered a claim. As a service, and to help you, we have sent you a repair paint to help you cover up the damages on the bed.

It is possible to purchase a new cot side on our webshop, if you are not happy with the repair paint.

We wish you a nice day 🌸

Best regards,

Sebra

Poor quality & Dangerous

I had three pieces of Sebra children's furniture all of which were poor quality and dangerous. It would be unacceptable for a cheap brand, not to mention one that positions itself as premium.

Wardrobe: The shelves are poorly secured and heavy, they will bow within weeks and inevitably collapse.

Changing Table with Drawers: A dowel snapped causing the frame to splay and resulting in the drawers falling to the ground.

Baby & Junior Bed: A supporting leg snapped, posing a huge risk to children who sleep in this bed. There are also some design flaws to the extended junior bed, like exposed screws and square corners which diminish the look, feel and safety.

We are a family that appreciates good quality design and take care of our stuff, and I sincerely never experienced something so flimsy/poorly made that 3 different items broke within a couple of years. It's really a pity. It's marketed as generational furniture that can be passed from child to child, but if you have a problem, beware that they will blame you for "pulling the furniture inconveniently, overloading it or applying some external impact."

Let alone it being completely overpriced, I would never recommend leaving your children around this dangerous furniture.

Dear Amy

Thank you for taking the time to make a review, even if it’s only a 1-starred one. We are of course very sorry, that you have had a bad experience with all three pieces of Sebra furniture that you purchased 3 years ago.
First of all, we wish to point out that quality and safety are of the highest importance to Sebra, and all of our furniture is tested and approved according to all required European standards e.g. when it comes to safety and health.
It is important to claim a damage as soon as possible after discovering it, and when we evaluate a claim, we consider several things – e.g. when was the product purchased and when was it claimed (in this case after 3 years of use), photos of the damages, the warranty and signs of misuse /mismaintain.
We do sell a lot of furniture and have never seen an issue like the one you have reported in your claim.
As mentioned to the retailer where you purchased the furniture, it is possible to purchase spare parts, for some of the furniture, so you can continue to using them.

Best regards

Not really practical

The bed looks nice but it does have a squeaking sound, which I can hear even when I put my baby down in the bed which is quite sensitive because you don’t want baby to wake up. I haven’t extended the bed yet probably it’s going to get worse.

Dear Kateryna

Thank you for your feedback, although we are sorry about the 2-starred review.

We are sorry to hear, that you are experiencing a squeaking sound from your baby’s bed. We have a claim system that allows us to work closely together with our retailers regarding claim cases. We have searched the system and we can’t find a case like yours. Did you report this as a claim to the retailer where you bought the bed? It is also always possible to contact Sebra directly by email.

The bed is made of wood, which is a natural material with many advantages, but it does occur that a squeaking sound appears. However, it should not be so loud that it bothers you and your baby.

Often when this happens, it can be solved simply by tightening/loosening the screws.

We would be very happy to help you with this case, please send your purchase information to servicecenter@sebra.dk and we will get back to you.

We wish you a nice day 😊

Best regards,

Sebra

The expensive SEBRA BED !

I bought the expensive SEBRA bed (junoseng) with it's mattress end of 2020, and my son just start to use in some time mid 2021. first months it had a bit of sound but as soon as my son started to roll over it has a very bad squeaking sound. I really liked this bed so I contact SEBRA several times, emails, calls , they even sent me another pallet for the bed but it did not help.
It is 1,5 year that whenever my son rolls in the night he hears a very bad sound (imagine for yourself)
In SEBRA they gave me several instruction for assembling which I think we tried 10 times to disassemble and assemble again, and none worked,
They finally sort of said they can't help more.
I even offered to pay to someone there to come and fix the issue...
now I extended the bed to be bigger and it's worse.
It's a month that my son just sleeps on the floor and I can't complain because of the unstable crap thing he has instead of bed,
I do not want to sell it because I don't think it is the right thing to do that to anyone.
As I told the people in SEBRA , I have the most sleepy boy who slept 80% of nights from 7:00 to 8:00.
So if he doesn't like the bed it is a real thing.

Dear Sun Kwon
We are very sorry for your review and your experience of the bed creaking so that your son cannot sleep.

The bed is made of wood, which is a natural material with many advantages. A disadvantage, however, can be that wood sometimes creaks when used. But of course, it shouldn't be so extreme that it bothers you/your son.

I'm not quite sure which retailer you bought the bed from. We need that information to find you/your purchase in our system.

Please send your purchase information to press@sebra.dk and we will get back to you as soon as we have investigated what happened.

Best regards
