Be careful about "clinical signs"
Refused to pay 8 linked claims for my 8 year old dog who got pseudomonas in her left ear. Which took 2 months and £1300 to cure.
Cited that she had had a few (think 3 or 4 but at least one in the other ear) ear infections in 8 years (she's a spaniel).
Vet supports previous infections likely yeast as treated with drops that wouldn't work on pseudomonas and cured after a week.
So despite being totally different infections and different required treatment they showed the same "Clinical signs"....
Clearly they can get out of everything with this small print considering most serious illnesses in animals start with diarrhea...and we've all took our pets at one time or another with a minor illness that started the same way!!!
Claim has been sent to financial ombudsman

Pet insurance is designed to cover new and unexpected illnesses or injuries that arise after a policy begins. If a condition has been present or recurring before the policy start date, it is usually considered pre-existing. This is standard across most pet insurers and is assessed using the veterinary history recorded before cover begins.
In some cases, conditions affecting the same area can develop over time or involve different infections or bacteria, but medically they may still be considered part of the same underlying condition if similar signs have been noted previously.
We’ve asked our claims team to contact you directly to talk through your dog’s veterinary history and explain how the decision was reached.

Saved us a fortune on what we were previously paying with Waggel with more cover provided on the policy. Not made a claim but hope they are as good as the cover costs if we need to.

Pet insurance claim
I claimed on my insurance for a lump to be removed from my dogs shoulder. It was easy to complete the forms online and Scratch and Patch kept me informed of any correspondence by e-mail. The claim was processed quickly and paid within a good time too

Much cheaper than my existing insurer
I received a renewal quote from my existing insurer. I compared prices using comparison site and this was the cheapest by almost half and the vet cover was higher! I was also able to select no co payment excess for a small increase. Website was simple and easy to navigate. I received my policy documents straight away.

My beloved cat had an infected wound which i noticed late at night and I called the pet care helpline. Got straight through to a vet who asked lots of questions and assessed my cat via video link. Unsurprisingly she suggested a visit to the vet the following day for antibiotics, but she saved me emergency fees and a totally sleepless night. I'll be staying with these guys
