We had a delicate family situation and needed someone to collect a photo album, digitise the old photos and then return the album.
From the very start Alan was reassuring, understanding and professional. What I thought would be a difficult endeavour was done quickly and painlessly. My family in the US are overjoyed with the outcome. Seeing old photos of my beloved dad brought up to the best possible standard has been very, very moving. I cannot recommend this service highly enough. My only note is that he should charge way more for such an exceptional service!!

Alan from Scan Van is a truly lovely person and he and his wife do excellent work. We recently entrusted them with 40 precious photo albums that belonged to my grandmother, photos ranging from the 70s to the early 2000s. Alan came by himself to pick them up and was able to give us a rough estimate of cost and further details on his process. He was extremely respectful of our home and was happy to answer any questions we had. He made us feel at ease and we were very comfortable handing our photos over to him.

A few weeks later he got in touch to say the process was done and we arranged a time for him to drop off the scanned photos and digital files. All the pictures came back in labelled piles so we can easily sort through them. The digital files themselves are very organised, he made great effort to categorise them, making sure to include any notes from the albums that indicate dates, times, events, names of family members and places. Even the backs of the photos themselves were scanned and included if they had writing on them. In addition to all this, they also have the equipment and the know-how to enhance old photos that have been damaged or faded with time - they look fantastic!

Scan Van has taken a mammoth task for us and streamlined it, instead of shelf after shelf of albums taking up space and barely being enjoyed, everything is now readily available for us to create as many copies as we like to send out to friends and family and takes up no space at all!

If you're considering digitising your pictures, we cannot recommend this service enough!

Excellent friendly professional service.

I contacted Alan after a series of family bereavements through which I had inherited a large and very muddled set of photos. Alan drove to collect/return the boxes in person which was great as I wouldn’t have wanted to post them.

He provided professional, expert and sensitive advice, and did a really impressive job of meticulously organising and preserving everything with great care and genuine interest.

I really recommend Alan’s service - I’ve got a great archive now to look at and share - and have uncovered family photos from the 1920s that I’d otherwise never have found at the bottom of a box! Very good experience.

I am so pleased that I chose Alan to digitalise my parents photo collection. The level of personal interest and care he showed in our family archive was exceptional, so much so that I want to let future customers know that they are in very safe hands. The photos are now organised in folders exactly following my hand - scrawled list , and he want to the trouble of naming some that I had failed to label. Alan has done the most amazing job with my photos that have been sitting in a draw for years. I am so thrilled with them. It was a lot of work for a very reasonable price. If you have slides or prints that you wish to digitise and share with friends and family, then look no further. Alan collects your photos in person, scans them, completes a quality check on EVERY photo, and then returns the originals to you. There are no postage or pickup costs. One phone call is all it takes.

An unexpected bonus is that Alan scans both the front and back of those photos that feature comments on the back.

I 100% recommend Scan Van and will not use anyone else for scanning and digitising important, historical, valuable and personally cherished documents and photos. I was clearing my loft and I found all my photo albums from my 60 years of life, and I took all the photos out and ended up with a box full of photographs. I found Alan on the internet and he came and collected all my photographs, plus a manuscript of a book my dad had written and my mum had typed on a manual typewriter in the 1980s. He scanned the lot, came back with a stick so I could put it in a photo frame which moves digitally and shows me all my life in my living room and everything I've done over the many years. I cannot tell you what a great service this is. Alan picked these things up from my house and he delivered them back, and the cost is really a fraction of what you would imagine it to be. Absolutely marvellous.

Alan was an absolute hero, scanning thousands of precious photos - it was a huge job as some photos were in dusty albums, loose, in frames we couldn’t open without damaging the photos, in all sorts of awkward shapes and sizes, nothing was too much trouble for him.

He also took great care of the photos and returned them to us in perfect condition.

I know there are lots of services that offer scanning now, many with posh websites, but I can’t imagine any take as much care as Alan through his bespoke and personal service. I’ll be recommending him to all my friends - thank you, Alan!

I would highly recommend Alan's service. He scanned about 3000 family photos for us. He picked them up and dropped them back, sent me a We Transfer link and USB stick, all in about a week. His rates are really reasonable for such a good service too.

Delighted with Alan's meticulous work and sympathetic approach. He made helpful suggestions about how to tackle my family archive, did exactly as he promised and delivered the results promptly. His scans are of high quality, improving the original images. These included photos which were silvering through age, negative film strips as well as slides, all of which are now in a form that I can easily work with.

Alan is your go to scanner. He picks up your photos and delivers once they have been done. He’s 100% reliable and trustworthy. He creates folders according to years (if that’s what you want) and albums. I am a horder of photos and the keeper of the family photos and now I have everything on a hard drive. Alan is the most helpful, respectful and trustworthy man you can meet. I trusted him with all our family photos and videos pre digital era, and there were many!. Everything was scanned to the highest quality, labelled and returned perfectly. It can be difficult to trust someone with something of such sentimental value but Alan made it easy. Another huge plus was he picked up all the albums and delivered results. Easy process. A very personal and reliable service.

Alan collected my photos very soon after I'd contacted him, and then collected a few more from me a few days later.

The turnaround was really quick and the results are amazing. I'm so glad I paid him to do it rather than trying to do it myself on an app!

I thought Scan-Van did a great job. I handed over a box of about 6000 photographs all from the 1970’s to about 2001 when I moved to digital. A few weeks later I had a USB stick with 6000 scanned images, all in labelled folders. The quality of the scans is really quite remarkable. I have zoomed into some and can see more detail than I could from the original print. I was never going to organised a box with 6000 printed photographs, but I have already organised the scans. It’s great to be able to find old memories.
I am very pleased, I would recommend and I would use this service again.

After my mum passed away we inherited a massive photo collection. (6,700 pictures I later discovered!) It was always my intention to scan everything for the rest of the family but I just didn’t know where to begin and I was fearful of handing over these irreplaceable pictures, until I found Alan. He was genuinely amazing. He came to visit me and assess the work involved. He personally collected the images, scanned them beautifully and returned everything in perfect order, the digital folders matching the original pictures organised in new folders and archive boxes. At every stage he kept me informed and answered all my questions and at the end personally delivered back the originals and gave me the images on usb pen drives as well as via download link. His service is wonderful and I could not recommend highly enough. Having instant easy access to the images is a special thing and finally the whole family can have a copy.

Alan was fantastic. I was understandably anxious about handing over 1000s (2700 to be precise) irreplaceable photos. Alan scanned them beautifully, putting them in the folders I'd requested and even scanning the backs of I'd written anything on them.

His attention to detail means I'm left with easily reviewable folders of photos rather than just replacing a physical mess with a digital one.

I'm so excited to actually look at my photos rather than have them completely inaccessible.

I had some albums scanned and Alan was fine about removing the photos from them to facilitate this.

I live overseas and Alan was able to liaise effortlessly with others to pick up my photos.
