When my husband got sentenced I sort of fell apart but quietly, because he was the one who was scared and everybody kept asking how he was doing and nobody once though to ask me, and meanwhile it was me left holding the mortgage and two kids and this date on the calendar I could not stop starting at, and a friend from church slipped me Sam's name and I almost didn't call, I don't even know why, I think I was just tired, but I did call and the first thing that got me is he picked up himself, no assistant, no callback, just him and we talked for close to and hour and not one second of it felt like he was selling me anything, he asked about the kids and whether I was sleeping which nobody had asked, and then he walked me through what the weeks before my husband had to report should actually look like, plain, one thing at a time, until the giant fog in my head turned into a list I could actually do, and because he had been through it himself when he told me the first week would be okay I believed him in a way I could not believe anyone else, and together we got the commissary money sorted out early and got me onto the visiting list before my husband even reported and figured out how the phone calls worked so I wasn't just sitting there guessing, little things except they are not little at all when you are that scared and that alone, and my husband is home now and we made it and honestly I don't think I hold it together those first months without him in my corner, so if your family is standing where I was standing, just call him, he will carry some of it for you, that is the only way I know how to say it.
I spent time in federal prison and can honestly say that having the right information beforehand makes a huge difference. I connected with Sam about a month before my self surrender date, and he helped me understand things I had been struggling to figure out on my own. From program eligibility and time credits to what daily life would actually look like, he explained everything clearly and realistically. What stood out most was that he treated both me and my family with respect throughout the process. Going in prepared reduced a lot of unnecessary stress, and his guidance proved incredibly valuable from start to finish.
When my husband was preparing to self-surrender, we felt completely overwhelmed. Once sentecing was over, it seemed like there were still so many questions and very few answers. Sam took the time to explain what came next, from facility designition to available programs, in a way that was easy to understand. What helped most was knowing we could reach out when we were anxious or confused and actually get a response. Because of his guidance, my husband went in feeling prepared instead of fearful, and our family felt much more confident about the road ahead.
My dad is at Lewisburg right now, and we just found out he is coming home nine months earlier than the date we had circled on our calendar. None of us understood the rules well enough to know that was even possible but Sam did.
Nine months is a long time when you are counting years. It is birthdays and a holiday and a graduation he was going to miss. If you have a family member going in or already inside, you call Sam. He looked at our situation the way somebody would if it was their own dad.

When my husband got his target letter, we did not know what to do. We had two kids in elementary school and a business to keep running, and every search I did online, either felt like a scam or a horror story.
Over the months that followed, he walked us through what to bring, what to ask for at sentencing, how to talk to the kids about what was coming, and how to think about the time between sentencing and the day, my husband had to report. When that day came, I knew what to expect, and so did our kids. That alone was worth what we paid him several times over. We are coming out the other side of this Now, and our family is still intact. A year ago, I did not think that was possible.

My experience with Sam Mangel of White Collar Consulting LLC was extremely disappointing. We reached a verbal agreement based on terms Sam himself provided. After services began, he sent an invoice that no longer matched our agreed terms, effectively changing the deal after the fact.
Even after acknowledging in writing that he knew his obligation to honor that agreement, Sam terminated our arrangement and kept payment for work that wasn’t completed. There is current ongoing litigation to resolve the matter in Palm Beach County.
Based on my personal experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering doing business with this company to carefully document all terms in writing and proceed cautiously and to fully vet the firm.
My husband was a physician and we were totally lost when federal agents showed up. No one in our friends or family had ever beebn in any kind of trouble and we had no clue what any of this process was like. While we were going through this with our lawyer, she sent us a video that Sam posted from one of his appearances on Caitlyn Collins CNN show and I thought I had to get Sam on the phone.
We ended up hiring Sam about four months before sentencing (which was tight but he was able to work with us!). He walked us through the PSR report and took over our character reference letter effort so that they could really make a big difference. His team gave each writer a specific lane. Our rabbi wrote about family. A long time patient wrote about his patience. Our daughter wrote a letter about how he's a selfless person. They were all amazing... and I wanted to include every single one... but Sam's experience with this process was so clear. He squashed three letters that were beautiful but wouldn't have helped with the judge (who is the only person that really matters in this process!). They made a big impact. He really put that packet together well.
Sam also helped with making sure that my husband was placed in the right facility for his heart condition and helped make sure that the facility was aware of his medications/medical needs. I had heard horror stories about what happens with doctors on the inside. And now I sleep a lot easier knowing that he's got the right treatment and he's in the right place in the BOP.
I would not have gotten through this without him and I could not possibly offer a higher recommendation. Thank you Sam and team!!
I'm a criminal defense attorney who has referred two clients to Sam for post-sentencing work in an attempt to minimize the time away from their families. Both are now home earlier than they would have been otherwise.
Both of them told me that they really appreciate that Sam listens. He and his team will sit on the phone with a spouse, asking about the kids and that sort of thing. He show sup for the family as much as he shows up for the client and that changes everything for people who are scared.
One of my referrals felt so strongly about what Sam did for him and his family that they invited Sam to their daughter's bat mitzfah. I didn't even get invited!!
If you're facing time or if you're an attorney trying to place a family in good hands, Sam Mangel is the one to call.
When my husband was facing federal charges related to our hotel mortgage issues and out of control tax problems, I truly did not know where to turn. I was terrified. We have three kids and I was about to become the one holding everything together.
A friend connected us with Sam and it changed everything. He sat with me separately from my husband and walked me through what to expect. How to talk to the kids. How to handle finances while my husband was away. How to set up commissary. Things I never would have thought to ask about.
He also worked closely with my husband on his character letters and surrender preparation. The letters that went to the judge were powerful because Sam knew exactly what they needed to say and how to frame them. My husband felt like he had some control over the process for the first time since this all started.
He answered my calls on weekends. He checked in after surrender. He helped me understand the visiting process and how to keep our family connected.
If your family is going through something like this, especially in the business or financial world, please reach out to Sam. You need someone in your corner who has actually been through this and understands it from every angle. He was that person for us.
If you want someone who is going to hold your hand and tell you its all going to be fine no matter what Sam isn’t that guy. If you want the truth and a real plan to deal with it, he’s exactly who you need. He’s helped me more than I can put into words.
SAM always picks up the phone and returns texts if he is not able to speak right away .
He makes you feel very comfortable and gives you the time that is needed. Makes us mentally satisfied by answering all OUR CONCERNS in the complex DOJ and BOP system .
When I was indicted , it made very nervous , heart broken and thought the my life was at a full stop .
That's when I first connected with Sam .....
I met him in person couple of times in NYC.
Spoke to him a zillion times .
Sam met with my attorneys in person . Sam while in Atlanta made time to meet them .
"As a physician, I never imagined I’d one day be facing federal charges for Medicaid fraud. The legal process was overwhelming, isolating, and full of unknowns. I was referred to Sam Mangel by another professional who’d been through a similar experience, and from the first conversation, I knew I’d found the right person to help me navigate what was ahead. Sam didn’t sugarcoat anything. He laid out the reality of my situation with clarity and compassion, the same way that I have always tried to do with my patients. Most importantly, he helped me prepare. From understanding what to expect at sentencing, to walking me through prison designation and the day-to-day realities of federal custody, he was there every step of the way. He even guided my family on how to stay strong and connected during this process. In a system that treats you like a case number, Sam made me feel like a person again. I truly don’t know how I would’ve managed without him. If you’re a professional facing the unimaginable, do not go through it alone. Call Sam."
I work at a law firm in Connecticut that handles white collar defense cases and Sam Mangel has become an integral part to our client services operation. While our attorneys handle the case from indictment to sentencing, Mangel comes in and helps prepare our clients for sentencing to re-entry, or the BOP part of a person's journey. (We always hope that you don't need Sam, but find that it's best to prepare!)
I've now seen Sam work with 5 different cases and he has, 100% of the time, brought a sense of calm and peace to our clients and their families. After our clients have talked to Sam, you can tell that it has taken the edge off and that they're feeling much more confident about what's next. You can actually see a physical sense of relief on their faces when they come into the office.
Our office highly recommends Sam Mangel to anyone going through this journey.
When my brother was indicted for white collar crime related to his medical practice, our entire family was blindsided and overwhelmed. We didn’t know where to turn or what to expect from the federal system. After a lot of research and reading everything we could, we kept coming across Sam Mangel. We called and he answered, which felt like a miracle at the time because no one actually picks up. Hiring him was the best decision we made during that time.
My brother is now serving his time with a sense of preparedness and dignity that we would not have been able to achieve on our own. Sam continues to check in and be available to us, which shows that he doesn’t just see this as a business. He genuinely cares about the people he works with.
UPDATE (3 months later): I have to add, I really appreciate that Sam is not just someone who cashed the check and gave us some services and bolted. He's in touch with my brother regularly and really seems like he cares about him and my family. It's so appreciated. We are glad that we hired Sam.
Sam,
1st off I want to thank you, for all you do for prisoners across the US. I hired you in 2021 when you were with the other guys and paid you $7,500 to help me with my pre-sentencing as well as everything else before going to prison. I want you to know you did a great job for me and I’m forever thankful for that.
I do understand you had a problem with your partners but I want you to know, I understand how things work in business. I’ve been my own boss my entire life and being an action oriented entrepreneur who has built, bought and even lost multi million dollar organizations, I do understand things happen and partners split up. You did an excellent job for me and again I cannot thank you enough.
I plead guilty to Wire Fraud on the Covide Loans. Long story short I applied for loans totaling just under a million dollars and in the end I received $375k which I spent on personal items and investments. If you google my name it says I got just under a million but that is not true since when Bank of America figured it out they froze my accounts. I'm glad they froze my accounts because I know now I hurt a lot of people and I plan to pay every penny back. I have it down to $200k left in restitution.
I could have received 110 months but thanks to the help preparing for sentencing, the judge gave me 41 months which I took full responsibility and accepted my sentence with a thank you your honor. Once in the Duluth Camp, I did everything you taught me, including qualified/completed RDAP, which I would have not known about had your organization not told me about. With all the programs you prepared me for such as RDAP, good behavior, and the First Step Act I was able to go to a halfway house after 13 months. I spent 2 months at the halfway house and then went home for 3 more months of house arrest. On December 21, 2023, I can proudly say I was released from the BOP and am now a year and a half into the 3 years of aftercare.
I read and watched everything I could on your website, and that not only helped me to reduce my sentence but I knew just about everything before it happened. I knew what my 1st day would be like, I knew what not to say and more importantly what to say to others in prison. I talked to so many people who said when they came to Duluth they thought they were going to a high-security prison, they had no idea that there wouldn't be any fences and no locks on our doors.
Thank you for everything and if you ever need anything from me please feel free to reach out. I have a lot of free time and would love to help you and your organization in any way I can
I talked to a few other prison consultants before hiring Sam, and I can tell you—there’s no comparison. Most of them felt like used car salesmen, promising the world without actually offering any real help. Sam, on the other hand, was real, straightforward, and completely focused on getting results. He helped me understand how to manage my time inside, what programs could reduce my sentence, and how to protect my reputation once I got out. More importantly, he helped my family prepare for the challenges ahead, which meant everything. Sam’s been there, he gets it, and he actually cares. I’d recommend him to anyone facing federal time.
I have been representing clients facing federal charges for over two decades. In all of my years practicing and representing nearly two hundred white collar offenders, I never considered using a prison consultant. I simply felt that they were out for my clients money and were too transactional. That is until I met Sam Mangel. I was referred to Sam by a colleague I’ve known and worked with for over 10 years. He told me about his experience with Sam and how it helped his clients. So I decided to give it a shot. I reached out to Sam on behalf of my client, a physician facing insurance and Medicare fraud charges. Sam immediately called my client and arranged a Zoom meeting with he and his family. Within 24 hours we retained him as part of our legal team. He carefully, methodically, and more important, compassionately worked with our client and his family. But what really amazed me was how he prepared him for his pre-sentence interview. Our office is in Philadelphia as is our client. He flew here and met with our client and his family, then took at least two hours to sit in our conference room and do a mock pre-sentence interview with him. I’ve never had a client so well prepared. When we received a draft of the pre sentence report, it was abundantly clear how well prepared the client was! Sentencing is next, likely in August. Sam has already told us that he plans to attend and prepare the defendant and his family for the next part of the process. I cannot recommend Sam and his team highly enough! Make the call.
There's no question in my mind that Sam is the best prison consultant in the business. I spoke to a ton of them on the phone. I felt many seemed schemey or scammy. Not Sam. His offering is the very top-tier in this business.
