Sailo is a scam - chartered a boat out of Ft. Laud, FL
Recently rented a private “yacht “for our mothers 70th birthday celebration along with another friends 40th birthday.
It was a private charter boat out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, The crew was Giovanni and his father.
This boat is the exact opposite of truly opulent. The listing has three bedrooms and 2 1/2 bath, however, we did not see any of the bedrooms, and they were not available for our use, clearly because the Captain and his father were down there majority of the time.
The captain did not listen to our wishes, we asked for calm waters due to a couple passengers being prone to motion sickness, however, our wishes were disregarded and we were taken in the ocean route which had 5 to 6 foot swells and took almost 3 hours to get to our destination. We kept asking how much longer and they kept telling us just a few more minutes, needless to say it took hours. Just be honest about the length of time that it’s going to take to get to a destination in rough waters, and be mindful of your passengers! Then we find out that we could’ve went a whole different way, which would’ve been more Scenic and no turbulence. Needless to say one of the passengers physically got sick because the waters were rough and we were out there for three hours holding onto our seats! It was a terrible experience.
The area where we finally anchored was subpar, considering that the boat next to us where the guy had been living on the boat for three months, and had trash cans floating in the water and was an eye sore. It was such a bad experience we asked to leave early, then we got taken on an extended tour when we just wanted to get back. The Captain did not listen to anything that we asked for, and the boat was not clean, didn’t even provide hand soap in the bathroom. Needless to say this experience for two individuals birthdays ended up being a terrible day on the water and was nothing like what we expected.
When I reached out to Sailo To express our concerns and the experience, I went into great detail and advise that we didn’t see any of the bedrooms, would not have wanted to be down in the main cabin because one of the two crew members were down there at all times. We were told by the crew that two out of the three bedrooms were used for storage and they were occupying the other room. It seemed like one of them was living on the boat.
Sailo did their “investigation” and said the owner of the boat took a video and the pictures matched the boat. There’s no way that the pictures matched the boat because I’ve seen the pictures, and I’ve actually been on the boat. No one from Salo actually went to the boat to inspect it and there’s no way that video reflected any accuracy of the boat condition. Then they tried to say that the weather report did not reflect any weather that day, which is a complete lie. We had a tropical storm and received notices that small boats should not have been out on the ocean, considering that the only boat out there besides us, was a large navy ship. That should’ve told us something.
I’m still waiting for someone from the company to call me because I’ve asked to escalate the issue. When I asked who I was going to be speaking with and their title, I received a response to allow them to do some more research and get back with me. This company is a complete scam!!! Do not use them!!!
