Literally Could Not Have Been Better
This was our first time sailing and first time to Croatia, so we were a little nervous about the experience and the boat. It was a lot of money, so we especially wanted it to be great - ha! Kate at Sailchecker did a great job preparing us and was quick with her communication. This was easily the best trip any of us have ever taken, and we're planning our next trip even though we've only been back home for two days!

Sailing on Galapagos catamaran with skipper Alen in Croazia
Grat catamaran, comfortably furnished. Good sailing tools , all motorized one person can sail alone. The itinerary was perfect: rovac, korkula, meleda, lastovo, vis, hvar in one week. Our skipper Alen was very experienced, friendly, helpful, he always gave us good Advices and lead us to the best sailing week ever. He was the one to help us in reserving the dockings We did not have any problems with anything

Highly recommend sailchecker
Our daughter advised us to look at sailchecker as we were not having much luck finding a catamaran to charter near Kos. They located one for us within a couple of days with Istion Yachting and arranged everything for us. They answered any questions we had promptly. I could not fault anything and the cat was amazing, probably the best we have chartered in 20 years of sailing and we have always used reputable companies before.

Just back from a superb holiday!
The Skipper, Robbie, was excellent, the boat better than I dared hope for, Croatia quite beautiful, the sailing ideal with over 10 knots on the homeward leg.
Many thanks to you (Sailchecker) and your team for making everything so easy and enjoyable.
Wouldn't hesitate to use Sailchecker again.

Trust worthy company to deal with.
Though we had problems with the booking, as made via another party, Sailchecker eventually managed to sort it out. They stood behind their word, and negotiated a fair refund.

Late season charter out of Gouvia Marina…
We had a late season charter out of Gouvia Marina, Corfu.
Everything worked extremely well and the boat was fantastically well prepared. It was an older Sun Odyssey 32 but it's age was irrelevant as it was in excellent condition throughout.
it was a 'Bobs Yacht' boat and we were extremely impressed with the charter. Lovely people and a great service. Recommended for sure.

We had a wonderful experience on our…
We had a wonderful experience on our chartered boat in Croatia. Our skipper, Nikola was knowledgable and was open to our requests for what we wanted to see and do. Our hostess, Martina, was truly wonderful and made our stay very comfortable. Kate helped us to feel comfortable in booking the right boat for our group and how to plan for our trip.
Most of our communications with Sailchecker were prompt and informative. As far as areas of improvement, it would have been helpful to have more detail as far as the payment options and ancillary costs. We were not informed that we would need a great deal of cash on our trip to pay for port fees (many ports do not accept card payments) and that we would need to pay the skipper and hostess in cash. A more comprehensive estimate and information on how things were to be paid for would have been helpful.
Also, we would have liked to been in contact with our skipper regarding the islands/stops we wanted to make before the trip began. There were a few things that were missed because decisions were being made on the fly.
Overall, we enjoyed our charter immensely and would not hesitate to book a charter again.

We chartered a SO 349 from GR sailing…
We chartered a SO 349 from GR sailing Lefkas through Sail Checker. It had 19 faults, including a blocked holding tank. Domestic batteries which had to be replaced before departure. A kedge anchor which was in the bucket but without any warps attached to it ! Wind instuments didn't work and half the windex was missing. Sail checker refused to make any reparations at all !
Never again with either Sail Checker or GR Sailing.
The above review was removed from the site because it didn’t comment on the service received. I will come to that later.
I will now publish the list of faults handed to GR Sailing at disembarkation and to Sailchecker on my return home.
Hello Kate & Chris
I attach our tale of woe.
We arrived on Sunday 10th Sept.
1. During our first night, battery alarms went off continually. Not a great start to a holiday. I was told that there was nothing wrong with the domestic batteries. However the batteries were replaced after further discussions.
2. The wind instruments were not working and could not be repaired or replaced as parts were needed from Athens. After 2 weeks without them working, there was no attempt, on our return to repair/replace the damaged unit. I do wonder how long this has been inoperative.
3. The windex was broken.
4. The fridge worked intermittently.
5. The catches securing the engine cover/companionway steps vibrated open causing me to fall backwards when coming out of the cabin. Fortunately I was unhurt, but covered in hot coffee, which I was carrying.
6. The bolt securing the bathing platform was missing.
7. One warp was damaged with only 2 strands in place (one cut) . I cut out the damaged part and respliced the rope together.
8. One warp had Knots at either end. I cut off the knots and put a whipping on each end.
9. The cabin lights worked intermittently.
10. The hi-fi system worked intermittently, with no sound inside the boat and distorted speakers in the cockpit.
11. The boat has the loudest domestic water pump I have ever heard.
12. The foresail furling gear jammed because the block feeding it was misaligned.
13. Two blocks at the base of the mast fouled each other and need moving.
14. There is a tear in the sail bag at the outer end of the boom.
15. The zip of the sail bag was very stiff and difficult to move. I remedied this by borrowing a silicon lubricant from a neighbouring boat.
16. The holding tank was blocked and would not empty. I paid Euro 50 to have it emptied when in another port. This did not solve the problem.
17. One clip missing from the bathing platform ladder.
18. Depth sounder in 40 meters of water would regularly sound the depth alarm and show 2 meters !
19. Alarming ! While inspecting the boat before departing port, I discovered that the kedge bucket had 2 long warps on top of a few meters of chain attached to the anchor at one end and the other end was shackled to a ring at the bottom of the kedge bucket ! Neither of the warps had been attached to the chain and anchor. This could have caused a serious accident. I can only assume that this was done by a moron !!!
The above are the faults that come to mind immediately.
I did talk through most of these faults with George before departing. He did say that he had had a similar fall as a result of not locking the companionway clips.
Sincerely
JR
After 3 or 4 weeks of discussion between Sailchecker and GR Sailing on my behalf, they refused to make any offer of recompense.
Following my review being removed, I received the following conciliatory email:
Dear JR
I very much appreciate your honest review and naturally rue my lack of personal involvement in the issues you faced. That said, we can only be judged by our reaction to each and every situation.
When Kate invited you to review us, I believed, without proper diligence, that we had reacted effectively to your comments. I see now, and perhaps too late, that is not the case.
We will have a review over the coming days and Kate will be back in contact with the operator and I will be talking with the owner directly.
I would also like to jump on a train and come to your town and hear your experiences first hand. I understand that would be a huge indulgence on your behalf at this late stage, yet I am sincere in my motives.
I look forward to updating you as soon as I can and look forward to the opportunity of getting together in the near future.
Yours ever,
Chris Lait

This very different what Sailchecker said on Trustpilot:
JR had indeed chartered a new Sun Odyssey 349 through SailChecker in Lefkas last summer.
There were no complaints before the embarkation or while on charter.
JR only informed us about the issues the boat had after he returned back home from his sailing holiday, so there was nothing to do except for sending the list with the issues to the operator (GR Sailing) who denied most of the "faults" the client mentioned, as they couldn't be considered as faults of this particular boat. Jeanneau Yachts all have a few characteristics that Mr Raw found defective.
GR Sailing informed us that they promptly helped Mr Raw at the times he reported an issue. We couldn't be aware of the issues without the clients informing us.
In any case, this review clearly does not state SailChecker's service and support throughout the booking process, as well as our will to sort this issue out, since we were only informed after the disembarkation. When there's no written report left at the base by the client, no official complaint, there's nothing we can do - only to pressure the operator for a refund, and this is what we tried to achieve, spending many hours on the phone with the operator. GR Sailing denied it. So we do believe that we did make every possible effort to provide JR with the best service possible.
Furthermore, this review wasn't made at the time of the incident, and we do think that the purpose is to harm our company's reputation.
With kind regards,
SailChecker Team
The above is inaccurate. Sailchecker state that “Dimitra” was a new boat, but it was in it’s 4th season. It is clear from Sailcheckers website that this is the case.
According to Sailchecker, these 19 faults are typical on all Jeanneau boats !
A full list of complaints was left with GR Sailing on departure. They did send a poorly equipped man to unblock the holding tank while we were in Kalamos. Who failed.
Now to address the booking process.
I understood that Sailchecker had a local agent, and if they did I did not see them.
The booking was handled with skill and transfers also arranged.
I have now chartered 4 SO 349 s in Greece (Ionian & Poros) and this one was very poorly maintained. The other 3 were in tip top condition. I am disappointed to see that Sailcheckers are still offering Dimitra for charter.
JR
Sailcheckers recent response in totally inacurate.
It was Sailchecker who stated that "Dimitra" was a new boat.
It was Sailchecker who said that GR Sailing had said that all Jeanneaus have the faults. SEE ABOVE
Sailchecker seem to think that these faults are acceptable.
Any experienced yachtsman can clearly see that they are not !
