Amazing Experience and Staff at Brentwood, CA Safeway
I went to the Safeway in Brentwood CA on Christmas Eve at 5am. It was full of people stocking shelves which meant they probably had been there for an hour and probably left their home at 3am. I went to the meat counter to get a lamb on the bone but there was not one. A young man was setting up the seafood display and his arms were full of ice and fish. I asked him if they had lamb on the bone. He could have easily told me he was busy, that the meat section was closed, but instead he immediately called to another colleague to help me. That person was in the back in the dark, unpacking boxes. He stopped what he was doing and looking in 2 places for what I wanted before going in the back room, bringing out three new boxes, then read the labels on the side to find the right one with the lamb leg on bone. He was so helpful and friendly. Everyone was. I really tip my hat to such professionalism and hard work. It was early on a holiday and everyone was so kind. Well done Brentwood Safeway.

The Safeway on Maryland Ave NE in DC is ONE of the worst that I have been in in a while. The store is dirty, the fruit and veg are rotten or spoiled, & you can't find most of what you're looking for. It's in a black neighborhood where they really don't give a damn. WHY BOTHER!!!

Safeway -- disrespectful & expensive dichotomy
It is a known fact that Safeway is WAY OVERPRICED for what you get. However, on occasion I have to shop there for a few specifics as no one else carries them. Well that list just shortened today! Since Thanksgiving they no longer sell Green Giant Low Sodium Cut Green Beans. No warning, just gone. Unfortunately for me I asked the cashier what was going on with the green beans. "Rick" was gruff, annoyed, and muttering as he had no one in his line and I apparently interfered by invading his space and asking a question. His name badge also indicated he was PIC. Seriously?! So your number one job is to provide customer service but you're annoyed by customers? Seems to me someone needs to find a more appropriate type of employment better suited to his temperament. I won't be returning to Safeway. I can be disregarded and disrespected far cheaper at Grocery Outlet, WinCo, or Walmart.

I dealt with an incredible deli employee over the phone. I was helped by MATTIA at the Burnaby store. I am so impressed with her help and over and above service ! Thank you special lady for everything ❤️
The safeway on henderson is fantastic
The safeway on henderson is fantastic. I love the employees, they are so helpful. The only thing I don't like about safeway is sobeys products( they aren't as good as the s as safeway products were. I wish safeway didn't sell out to sobeys. It isn't same store, thank goodness the employees are still the same friendly people they have always been. I want to mention a few, Tyson is a great one he listens to your wishes on how to pack my groceries. I can always find someone to help get things off the shelf if they are to high. I am 73 and short so I have a hard time. The ladies at self checkout are always helpful and cheerful. I just want my safeway back the way it use to be.

Bad Customer Service
SELF CHECK OUT: I was the only one there at 6:30am in the self check and the light was flashing to trigger someone to help. The employee WAS there but she was chatting with another employee. After about a minute she saw me but felt the need to continue talking. When she finally arrived she said she was talking to a customer that needed a refund. No, she was talking to a person with a badge, which turned to be the employee at the customer service desk.
ACCESS FROM GARAGE WAS LOCKED The store opens a 5am and when I arrived at 6am the sliding doors from the parking to the elevator were locked. I had to walk up the parking ramp and around to the front. When I left I was pretty certain the doors would be open. Nope., I had to walk up the stairs with 3 bags and find help. The service desk (same woman that was chatting with the self checkout employee) said they'd find the person to unlock but they didn't want to expend any energy to find him. At that point I gave them my receipt and asked for a refund. That finally got them to make an effort to find the guy.

Safeway is a nice top-tier grocery store chain
I think this chain of stores is very good. Each specific store is a little different. They have top-quality selections. Their prices aren't the bottom of the barrel, but, neither am I, so it works for me.
I dislike two things:
1. There are employees working at the 20895-zip-code store who have horrible homeless-style body odor. Worse, they are touching fruits and vegetables. That's an issue --- these are not normally heated prior to eating. I complained and was ignored.
2. They have that some stuff is locked behind their plastic covers. It's ridiculous, as one cannot really see what they are trying to sell.

If I could rate it less I would.
If I could rate it less I would.. bought some beer there instead of going to other stores where it is cheaper, expired and absolutely awful... not to mention the canned foods I have bought there recently that are also expired by several months.... check the date on EVERYTHING! Colville WA, and Chewelah WA...
Fired
Who ever does the store Isles and Layout of all your stores has no concept of 'easy to find'. rather chose to strategically have us go thru each isle 2x. Youre Fired.
Total dumpster fire of a company
This company has turned into a complete dumpster fire. From redesigning shelves that make it even more impossible for women and people with disabilities to reach items to understaffing and shutting down self-checkouts. But last night was their worst offense. I ordered grocery pickup at around 4 pm for a pickup time of 9 pm because that's all they had available. Around 8:45, I got the "Your order is delayed" email. I waited until 10 pm, and heard nothing else. At 11:34 pm (2.5 hours after I was supposed to pick up my groceries), I got the dreaded "We were unable to complete your order" email. They allowed me to reschedule, so I chose the first slot, which was at 7 am the following day. However, I would not be able to get the groceries until late that night due to their mess up the night before, so I'm now without the food I ordered for 24 hours. Given this absurdity, I chatted with a representative to ask what kind of compensation I would be getting for this mistake. The chat rep, Artimedes, said, "Your order wasn't canceled. It's ready for pickup." I replied, "Yes because I was forced to reschedule it for a different day and time. Why?" They could find no information about this happening, and their chat doesn't allow for images to be shared. They told me I'd have to contact the store, so instead, I canceled my $300 order. Now, their already overwhelmed staff will be forced to put it all back while I head over to our locally owned and operated grocery store, which will be getting the estimated $2500 per month we spend on food from here on out.
I appreciate the warm friendly service… from Jazmin, Bellevue Eastgate store
I appreciate the warm friendly service from the self-out clerk. Today, I picked up a 1 gallon of milk and thought it was on sale. However, I picked up the wrong brand. After I paid my bill, I realized my mistakes and asked for help from the self-out station. Your employee, Jazmin from 15100 SE 38th St, Bellevue, WA 98006 quickly recognized my error and was willing to exchange the correct gallon of milk for me. She did it professionally with a GREAT smile. I understand many Safeway employee may not be able to carry a smile to work, however, Jazmin did it. She is great.
Safeway do better
I've been coming to Safeway for years. I'm always surprised by how much just a few items cost. I'm very disappointed in the recent security changes in the store. Laundry detergent is apparently being shoplifted. Really? A big bottle of detergent isn't visible as it leaves the store? I understand wine and beer. To cap it off the security area cashier has no training packing bags. I repacked them right at the register. You know better, Safeway. Now, do better.
Find another grocery store!
Here's what's going on with Safeway, 1902 W Main St, Mesa, AZ 85201??
Went there to shop this morning, Oct. 16, 2024 (9am, AZ time).
Desk manager stated: NO CREDIT or DEBIT CARDS could be used. (??!!)
Then added, " It's a global thing. But cash works at our self checkout."
Is it a global thing?
Or was THIS girl blowing smoke up our behinds (as we thought)??
We glanced over & saw NO manned check-outs and the self-check outs were packed.
Is management just saving on hired check-out clerks or what?
smh
Monthly, we'd shop at this Safeway for over $300 worth of meat.
Today, Fry's Foods got our business. (Fry's was NOT experiencing the 'global thing' and had NO problem processing our credit card).
THIS Safeway and their management is questionable, at best.
THIS Safeway seems to be the only one experiencing this 'global thing' that prevents credit and debit card use.
(Hate being lied to.)
Deception while shooting at Safeway
Selling soda to for e customer to buy two and charge more for one. Then blaming the manufacturer. Beware this practice will be used in other store products start looking for a honest store , one that does mislead the customer. Safeway is not that store.
