I'd like to give a huge thank you to…

I'd like to give a huge thank you to Janine, Victoria and Claire for their tremendous work on the sale/purchase of our new property. @Janine, what a woman and what a truly fabulous solicitor.

What's been the most hair pulling house purchase I've had yet (at no fault of Russell's) Janine got us through.
Her service was phenomenal throughout.
She carried half of the chains solicitors on her back and her communication was an absolute 10/10. Hands down the best solicitor I've come across. 1 Million percent will use Russell's in the future and I'll forever be recommending them.
Big thanks Janine, you deserve a month's break in the Caribbean after the past few months. 😂😘

The truth! They request reviews at day one for obvious reasons.

I had them as my solicitors to buy my first home and they did nothing but prolong the process, blank emails, phone calls and voice mails.

Even when I managed to communicate with them they were

A, Ill-informed and lacking support by email

B, so quiet on the phone that I had to use speaker phone and put my phones speaker into my ear to attempt to understand them (when I complained about this she just said "no one else has had this issue")

C, I never actually got to speak to my solicitor but her secretaries,

D, they prolonged the process in order to work for nothing and get paid more.

E, They wanted a review form complete from day one. At that stage you do not want to have a rift with your solicitors so they ask for your review then in order to have positive feedback.

F, Even when legal concerns were pointed out to them (of which they should have highlighted) they failed to acknowledge them let alone investigate them.

G, You have to keep chasing them up and essentially prompting them to do their job by Email as they do not answer their phone or voice mails.

H, If anything of an important nature happens which you need to know then they will not take the time to call you, they only Email.

I, They have poor liaison with other solicitors causing problems for even individuals working in the same profession.

J, They expect you to have your own printer for paper work.

K, They won't allow you to park in their car park.

L, When asked to look into your concerns they merely state "it's up to you".

M, Even when they have been paid they persist to request payment.

N, If you attend their office they won't invite you in but leave you waiting and even then they'll only quickly talk to you in reception.

O, I ended up with three people I had to consult with, two who were working for the sollicitor and the solicitor herself (who I never got to consult with at all)

P, They use confidentiality as an excuse to avoid consulting with anyone on your behalf even if you have stated that you consent and request the support of a 3rd party

Q, They fail to inform you of who your solicitor actually is and who is acting on your behalf by name.

R, They will leave you waiting even for the final out come hours after it had been concluded.

S, They do not apologise when they make mistakes.

T, Their laxety increases your anxiety through difficult legal decisions.

U, Even though you can end up with multiple people dealing with your case you are not provided with phone numbers direct to any of them even if you request them.

V, They treat vulnerable people like easy targets for prolonging cases for more money

W, They won't allow you to use their toilets whilst waiting.

X, They fail to reply to all emails sent to them.

Y, When you leave a lot of voice mails they pick the phone up and put it down again to evade further voice mails

Z, They realise that at a certain stage you can't just change solicitor's because it will delay the process further and you'll have to pay more as you will have to pay Russell & Russell to that stage and your new solicitor to completion.

Very good customer service

In the last 3 years I have used Russell & Russell to both buy my home and sell a property. I've been delighted with the level of customer service I have received, which has made both processes very smooth for me. The great service has meant that it has made no difference that I live in the South and they are not local to me. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

I went to the office and asked for help…

I went to the office and asked for help completing forms for selling a house. When the solicitors assistant spoke to me she said get it up on your phone. I explained no internet and was told to just do my best then. I did expect the forms to be got up on a computer and discussed with me. When I signed the forms I took them to the office and asked could they be checked. The young lady on the desk said they look right to me, blame me if there not. Although I went to the Middleton office at first I was given a solicitor in Bolton which was further away. This was changed when I spoke to the older lady on reception who I found exceptional in trying to help. The documents sent to me the same day -one had my right name and the second spelt my name wrong. This was rectified quickly when I rang them.

A very good conveyencor for house purchase

I used their services for purchasing our first home. They handled the case very professionally. From start to finish they were very serious about my maximum convenience. They are very reliable. They worked hard and very thoroughly about my case. In the end though I started to purchase a leasehold I ended up purchasing the freehold of the same property because of the problems they identified with the leasehold. They not only helped me but also shown path to the seller's solicitors about quickly purchasing the freehold. I can definitely recommend their expertise.

The only downside is that they sometimes miss emails. I requested a call back couple of times by email but they never called me back. However they are always reachable by phone and they always called me back on the same day whenever I requested a call back by phone and also whenever necessary they called me. They kept me up to date about the progress by email too.

A truly dismal experience

A truly dismal experience. The service was consistently slow, reactive, and disorganised — exactly why conveyancing in this country has such a poor reputation.

The original solicitor handling my sale frequently went on leave without notifying us, leaving us with no way to progress the transaction or even get basic updates. We were left in the dark repeatedly, and despite the file being with them for over six months, we faced more than a month of avoidable delays at the point of exchange.

She eventually gave just two days' notice that she was leaving the firm entirely — and the transition to her replacement brought no improvement. The same delays, poor communication, and lack of urgency continued.

Even after raising a complaint (which was partially upheld), nothing changed. I had to chase at every step and felt like I was pushing water uphill the whole way.

It’s absolutely true — a solicitor can make or break a transaction. This firm very nearly broke mine. I chose them based on positive reviews, but in my experience, they were completely unfit for purpose. Avoid at all costs.

Simply the best from the best

Zoe Harryman was my appointed solicitor and she was and is amazing. Always happy, you can "hear" her smile when speaking to you and answering the phone and always there trying to help with any question and issue that you may have. My day was always better after speaking with her. It was a stressful period for me because of the council and the vendors solicitors not answering emails or phone calls. Zoe and her team did their best and chased them, spoke to the agency to try to get the paperwork and updates for me. At one point we were chatting every 2 3 days to try to see what is going on and what can our side do more to push and get things done by the other camp. Nothing seemed to be to much for them and I know that without them I would have gave up and I wouldn't have had a place of my own now. I want to say again a massive thank you and my appreciation for their professionalism, attitude, availability, communication and everything else. Thanks again especially to Zoe and her team which included Victoria, Claire, Natalie and to everybody else that helped me and I might have missed in mentioning. For me Russel and Russel Solicitors are the stunning and the 5 star example of how solicitors should be and how a company like that should run and work together. They are an amazing team and would advise anybody to go and use them. Russell and Russell will do their job close to perfection and will try to get results fast, clear and professional. They will go above and beyond for everybody.
If I could, I would give them 10 stars and still will not be enough.
I m planing to buy more properties in the future and I m looking forward to speak again and work with Zoe and the group.

With them your purchase can take only 2 3 months depends more on the others, as Russell and Russell are fast professional and reliable and they get things done.

Ps: This was 2nd time using them. 1st time, a week before signing the contract, I had to withdraw from the purchase because of the seller causing some damage to the property.
