Rowleys Fine Art Auctioneers in Ely…

I first used Rowleys Fine Art in Ely Cambridgeshire several years ago to sell two old paintings. They both sold and I was very happy with the sale price and the whole process of submitting the paintings for sale.

In 2025 I had to clear my mother's house as she needed specialsit nursing care and had to move into a care home. I spoke to Laura on the telephone to see if Rowleys may be interested in selling quite a few of my mother's personal items. I then cleared my mum's house and brought everything from Newcastle down to Ely. It was more or less an entire car full of boxes.

I took the items into Rowleys by arrangement and met James and Laura who spent over 2 hours going through each item with me. Bar one or two items I consigned everything to Rowleys and they were put into the July 2025 sale.

I was extremely impressed with the pre-sales advice and information provided and the extremely professional attitude of everyone I spoke to.

My wife and I watched the auction live online and everything bar two items sold in the July sale and the two unsold items were sold in the August sale. Fantastic result.

Sadly my mother died just before the July sale and this made the whole process of selling my mother's personal possessions so much more difficult. However, the staff at Rowleys were so helpful even in light of the fact that the process of applying for Inheritance Tax and Probate threw up a number of challenges for both the auction house and myself.

I would not hesitate to use Rowleys again in the future and can warmly recommend them to anyone looking to consign items for sale. A special thank you to James and Laura, Diane and Roddy for their support throughout.
