BEWARE
BEWARE - Ripe have a highly punitive refund policy on cancellations, offering only 10% refund after 121 days of the policy. I sold my vehicle and they have effectively kept the entire premium (once cancellation fees are added) for 1/3 of the time used on the cover. This is hidden in small print inside policy documents, it’s extremely underhand and possibly breaches UK consumer rights, I will be challenging this with Ripe and if I don’t get a satisfactory outcome I will be contacting the financial ombudsman. Stay well clear of this company.

Had been with ripe for a couple of years never had a problem made a claim last year and was settled within a couple of weeks really no problem came to my renewal and was informed sorry they couldn’t offer me a renewal as the underwriter would not cover me which was Aviva so I started hunting around and got a company coastal insurance who gave me a quote but told me because of my claim there where an additional 20% add on for my claim which I didn’t mind and agreed the quote who was the underwriter only Aviva who ripe said wouldn’t cover me this was not a write off claim damaged panel

We're sorry for the disappointment and inconvenience caused when we were unable to offer you a renewal. We understand this was frustrating, particularly as you were able to obtain cover elsewhere with the same underwriter.
While both insurers may use Aviva as an underwriter, each insurance provider has its own acceptance criteria, rating, and risk appetite. Unfortunately, based on your individual circumstances, the decision was made that we were unable to offer cover through Ripe Insurance for a further year. Regrettably, this isn't a decision we're able to override.

At first it seemed reasonably good despite their computer system crashing and the hard working David having to fill in the whole form again. But three days later I received a call from them saying that a typo had resulted in the policy being £5 cheaper and I needed to pay that. I suggested that waiving the £5 would be correct in these circumstances, but that was apparently not possible. They were still the cheapest no-frills policy, but do strike me as a bit unprofessional. David (who dealt with me) was clear, and worked hard despite the company and systems not being supportive to his work. I suspect the organisation is just another bureaucratic money-grabbing entity with bigwigs paid far more than they are worth, and a lack of investment in equipment and employees.

We'd like to clarify what happened regarding the additional payment. Following the system issues, it was identified that a small human error had been made when your policy details were entered, resulting in the year your motorhome was purchased being recorded incorrectly. Once this was spotted, David contacted you to explain the situation and correct the information.
The £5.85 was not an administration fee or a charge for making the amendment. The age of a motorhome is one of the factors used when calculating the cost of cover, so correcting the purchase year resulted in a revised premium. The additional amount reflected the difference in the cost of the policy based on the correct information, which is why it could not be waived.
We appreciate that this was inconvenient, and we sincerely apologise for the error. While our advisers take great care to ensure all information is entered accurately, occasional mistakes can happen, and we always aim to correct them as quickly and transparently as possible.

No claim bonus problems
Gave me a great price, and I purchased the policy. However it turned out they didn't accept my no claims bonus because it was from Motability. Therefore I had to leave. They were perfectly nice about it, but I was frustrated that it was not made clear that a no claim bonus was not permitted from Motability.
