Rheem warranty is a LIE

I have a 2 year old heat pump/water heater that has failed.I reached out to rheem & they informed me that since my family purchased the unit (my mother) and I now own the home that the warranty is voided!! It is amazing the extent this fly by night company go to not to stand behind their product. This great sounding warranty that entices families to spend the extra $$$ for a unit that is less efficient than other heaters in that price range is absolutely worthless.I personally purchase many of these products annually——and from this day forward I will never purchase anything associated with this brand or its subsidiaries period.I wish i could go back and return all of my previous purchases and use a quality product with real warranty that works as advertised instead ot dealing with this inferior company .Rheem should get into politics the way they lie and mislead the public.$3000 for a water heater that lasts 2 years?Thats alot of money for something heading to a landfill.Good job Rheem—Unfortunately it won’t be your expensive inferior product taking its place.

Rheem gas water heater so-called warranty an illusion

Bought a Rheem gas water heater in 2017 but replaced in 2022. This week the thermostat on the new heater (built April 2022) broke. Call Rheem to get a replacement part and am informed by employee and alleged supervisor that the "warranty term for the replacement heater gets transferred from the original product". So this unethical firm asserts that warranty for components built in 2022 started in 2017??

Employees super-rude, double down on this bizarre warranty, proceed to read over & over the entire legal page of the warranty manual without letting customer speak, blame the customer/victim for not reading the paperwork (which of course you only get after the thing is installed). Zero empathy for customer/victim stuck with their broken rubbish product. This will be a new fabulous dinner party story; Rheem has lost multiple customers for life. Well done you!

HVAC Warranty halved because there's no record of warranty registration

My HVAC outside unit cooling fan motor failed two years after installation, and the motor was covered by the Rheem warranty. The motor failed again recently. This time, the HVAC technician informs me, The warranty expired, 3 years short of the stated 10-year warranty. It turns out that if you don't register your unit then your warranty is cut from 10 to 5 years. The installer told me that he registered my unit, but, according to Rheem, my unit was never registered. Funny thing, my registration shows my address but not my name. Rheem was adamant that my unit was never registered, so I'm out of five years warranty.

the local distributor shows that my HVAC unit was indeed installed on my address but my name's not on the registration. Based on this Rheem rejects my warranty. Clearly, I should have followed up with the installer for the warranty certificate, but it makes me wonder how much Rheem benefits from careless contractors (and homeowners).

Rude service reps

8 days without hot water on a week old water tank. Rude, condescending service reps who hung up on their tech! Wanting $30 to ship parts priority on warranty repair and in general did not care about anything except getting off the call. Rheem has become a shell of what it once was

2yrs old in the trash

Heat pump 2~ yrs old. Failed 4 times. Last is compressor. Under warranty but $800 in labor. Quality installer advises me to throw it away. He states that rheem started outsourcing and it has been a disaster for him and owners. I’ve thrown in the trash a complete heat/ac system and had to pay 2024 prices to install a new one. My hot water heater failed after 1 yr.

TERRIBLE WARRANTY SERVICE!!!!!

Long story short: Bought a Rheem water softener, which 9 months later leaked salt water from the salt tank. TWO WEEKS of phone calls with their warranty unit (which turns out to NOT be Rheem, but is Ecowater) and they repeatedly said they would get an answer in 24-48 hrs. Last call the rep PROMISED to call me back in 10 minutes and never returned the call.
Eventually they sent an email that said they would send the part, which I already had told them I could not possibly install (required disassembling and lifting the very heavy resin tank). They IGNORED that this was within the LABOR warranty period!
NEVERY NEVER NEVER again!!

Sold a defective water heater

Sold a defective water heater, they tried to get away with not granting the labour warranty. Told 1 day air shipping for replacement and Home Depot would take care of everything.

Spoke with Home Depot the following day, they had to call Rheem. Turns out replacement water heater was not shipped. They told me it would be 2 day shipping but over the weekend might be an extra day.

Called on Monday to confirm shipping. They told me 1 and 2 day shipping was impossible. They set to have one shipped out but would be set to be packed the following day… then shipped the next. And that it would be about a week for shipping.

If everything goes according to this plan, we will have been without hot water for 1.5 weeks, and have taken 1.5 days off work.

Horrible experience!!!

I purchased a new 5-Ton 14 SEER Rheem…

I purchased a new 5-Ton 14 SEER Rheem central Air-conditioner in August of 2020. Since installation, have had two costly leaks of refrigerant that should not happen, especially in a unit that is lass than 3 years old. The current leak is/was exceptionally bad, resulting in COMPLETE loss of all refrigerant. My A/C service company discovered that the EEV part had developed a huge leak. I called Rheem Customer support as asked if they could help me cover some of the labor cost considering the unit is essentially new (less than 3 years old). They said they will not provide any assistance beyond the part, but I could have my A/C repairman contact his "Distributor Service Coordinator". No help there either! This is extremely disappointing and illustrates why, in my experience, you should stay away from Rheem products. They covered a $25 part and left me to pay the labor and refrigerant cost of over $1,100. Three weeks ago I had to add 3.5 pounds of refrigerant at a cost of over $450 before the EEV leak was discovered. On top of all of this, my A/C repairman discovered that the warranty on the compressor is only 5 years, not the industry standard 10 years. I made a costly mistake selecting a Rheem air conditioner and wish I had read reviews of this sub-par company. Based on my experience with this low quality product, I do not recommend anyone buy their A/C products. Learn from my mistake and save yourself from a similar experience....
As I Am Writing THIS, my A/C guy has been working on my unit and just discovered another small leak in the bottom section of the coil, which he showed me. While the coil is under warranty, the labor will be significant and THE PART IS UNAVAILABLE and Rheem has no estimated time when it will be available. Lovely. I am hereby completely giving up on this Rheem unit and will have a quality/durable/reliable/efficient unit installed like Trane or Carrier or Bosche. Don't try to save money by going with Rheem, I recommend staying away from Rheem based on the costly failures (and inconvenience) I've experienced AND their abject failure to take facts and circumstances into account and be fair with their customers. Don't waste your money.

Rheem also makes Richmond hot water…

Rheem also makes Richmond hot water heaters. While it claims to have 6 year warranty it's really only 2 years on parts and labor. If you used a Gold or Platinum credit card to purchase the product it extends your warranty 2 years and you can make a claim through your credit card benefit program. Also many hot water heaters have recalls due to faulty thermo couple and stores like Menards are exchanging them. What you do is buy a new one so you have the warranty and then they refund you when you return the old one is what Manager told me. Installation you are on your own. Mine failed after 26 months exactly. Hopefully this will help some people out posting this review.

Beware of Rheem totally unbox their product before purchase

Purchased Rheem Water Heater at home depo after unboxing discover the die-electric nipple on the hot side theads where damaged at the factory. The box was undamaged. We photographed the damage and Rheem agreed to send another nipple the next day they said there supply was out told us to go buy new nipples. The company was of no help, we finally took it back to home depo in exchange for another one, that was our next mistake. I had them open the top of the box and check the nipple threading it was ok. The box that the 2nd one was in appear to have no damage not a mark. After we got home we examined the Rheem water heater which had two large dents it the body, someone at their factory must have boxed it with the dents and sent it to Home Depo as the box was perfect and had no visual damage. Beware of the Rheem company.

Failure after only 2yrs - Gas Control Valve and FVIR Bulb

Brand new Rheem 50ga water tank professionally installed in September of 2020. After two years of normal residential use, this product failed. Two trips from a technician and 4 days w/o hot water and the tank had to be replaced. BEWARE, after 12mos. the labor, service call, and material is on you. $400-500 of expense that no consumer should have to cover for a product 24 months old. Rheem customer service glossed over the issue and was unhelpful. So I'll be helpful for future consumers and advise them to NOT PURCHASE RHEEM PRODUCTS. Read the reviews online - hundreds of reviews with failure of their products. And they manufacture in Mexico. You have better, more reliable options domestically. Don't buy from this company. They could have made it right, they didn't.

The warranty is a lie

The warranty is a lie!
I bought one of the heating elements and it didn't last two days. Worthless product and even worse customer service. They clearly had no intention of replacing their defective part.
DO NOT BUY RHEEM, RUUD OR RICHMOND PARTS!
They are junk and the company doesn't stand by their parts.

This company real name an business is…

This company real name an business is making air conditioners and the name of the air conditioner that they sell an make are Friedrich's air conditioners. Do not EVER BUy one of their OVER PRICED GARBAGES AIR CONDITIONERS. It is the biggest piece of GARBAGE that you can buy. Their air conditioners are like a time bomb a ticking time bomb. It only lasts about 1 year before grenades and never works again. And when you talk to the company they tell you sorry it's out of warranty. You're stuck with it. Throw it away. That's their answer. You pay almost $500 for an air conditioner and the thing is garbage in one year. Nice profit isn't it? They stand BEHIND NOTHING in this company, if you can never get anybody to even answer the phone. This company needs a class action suit against them. They are ripping off the public royally and getting away with murder selling very very very expensive junk air conditioners that do not even last a year. I bought an air conditioner last year. A friedrich's air conditioner 8,000 BTU The thing was junk and not even a year. And this company basically told me to go jump in a river and I left numerous messages with the higher up management team that does not even respond to you about anything They need to be sued and they need a class action suit against them. Do not ever ever ever buy a friedrich's AIR CONDITIONER unless you have money to throw away because that is all you're doing. Buy an LG Frigidaire GE any other brand and you might get 3 to 4 years out of it this brand you are lucky to get 8 months out of it. These WORDS DISCRIBES THIS COMPANY. ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC, HORRIFYING AN A COMPLETE DISGRACE OF A COMPANY. That only cares ABOUT MONEY 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰 AN ONLY MONEY 💰💰💰💰💰💰

1-How do 5 one star and 1 two star reviews equal 2.4 stars? Did you guys at trustpilot just fail math or is something else going on?

2-Rheem is horrible as previous posts detail. I got their top of line Heat Pump in Nov 20 and it failed 13 months later. I have been frustrated in all attempts to get it fixed. My favorite excuse--COVID. DO NOT BUY HVAC FROM RHEEM

Poor product quality, poor customer service.

Poor customer service experience - hard to find telephone number to pursue warranty issue, and when you do find the number it is a long (45 minute) wait. Then they won't provide expedited shipping unless you pay a hefty fee. Not to mention the parts shouldn't be failing in 5-6 years anyway. Overall, poor quality product, and poor quality support! Stay away from Rheem.

THIS IS THE WORST ITEM AND WORST ITEM AND WORST EXPERIENCE WE'V EVERY ENCOUNTERED

THIS IS THE WORST ITEM AND WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER ENCOUNTERED. THEY WERE BOTH BAD, BUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE OR LACK THEREOF WAS THE WORST OF THE TWO.

WE'VE PURCHASED TWO RHEEM GAS HOT WATER HEATERS AND THEY BOTH MALFUNCTIONED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THE FIRST ONE WAS IMMEDIATELY REFUNDED AND REPLACED. THE SECOND ONE MALFUNCTIONED BACK IN SEPTEMBER 28, 2021. JUST AS BEFORE, WE CALLED THE RETAIL STORE, WHO REFERRED US TO RHEEM. WE CALLED RHEEM TWICE AND NO ONE ANSWERED. WE E-MAILED OUR REQUEST FOR HELP, AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. WE CALLED BACK AND REMAINED ON HOLD FOR 1.5 HOURS. WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD RECEIVED AN E-MAIL WITH INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO REPLACE THE HEATER. AS OF THIS WRITING, WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. THE HOT WATER HEATER IS A NECESSITY, SO, PURCHASED A NEW ONE ON 9/29 AFTER RENTING A U-HAUL. ON 10/8 WE FILED A BBB COMPLAINT. RHEEM DID NOT RESPOND UNTIL 11/4. THEY ARE REFUSING TO REIMBURSE US THE THE COST OF THE NEW WATER HEATER AND RELATED EXPENSES. WE ARE STILL WORKING WITH THE BBB TO GET THIS CASE RESOLVED.

$1,500 water heater was declared a "lemon" by Rheem's tech support -- Rheem will not issue a full refund.

Summary: $1,500 water heater was declared a "lemon" by Rheem's tech support -- Rheem will not issue a full refund.

I purchased a 50 gallon Rheem water heater (PROPG50-40N RH67 PD) from an authorized Rheem dealer, Johnson Thermol Temp Inc., Washington, MI.

Unfortunately, the Wi-Fi feature, used to raise/lower the water temperature from a smartphone, never worked consistently. After a seemingly random period of time (a few hours to a week) the Wi-Fi conncection would drop, resulting in lukewarm-to-cold showers.

During the next several months I placed many calls and invested dozens of hours of personal time working with Rheem's tech support. To prove my home network wasn't the issue I was required to purchase and install two different Wi-Fi extenders.

Rheem/Johnson Thermal made several attempts to troubleshoot the problem. They replaced the Wi-Fi unit. They replaced the gas valve three times. Nothing worked. Unable to solve the problem Rheem's tech support declared the water heater a lemon (their words, not mine, case number 3137948) and told me to return it and Johnson Thermal would provide a refund.

Johnson Thermal took the water heater back. A few weeks passed; no refund. After two more phone calls to Johnson Thermal and another week went by I received a partial, $700 refund.

Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Rheem failed. I placed two calls to their warranty group. Both times I was told that "the manager was not available but would call back." Neither call was returned.

Attempts to discuss the refund amount with Johnson Thermal failed. I placed a call to the manager -- it was not returned.

A partial refund is not acceptable for a water heater that *never* worked properly. My expectation was/is for a full, $1500 refund.
